Synopsis

With the help of producer Masaya Kaburagi, Aquamarine "Aqua" Hoshino and Kana Arima have landed the roles of Touki and Tsurugi in Lala Lai Theatrical Company's stage adaptation of the popular manga series Tokyo Blade. Co-starring with them is Aqua's girlfriend, Akane Kurokawa, who plays Touki's fiancée, Princess Saya. Due to the fanbase preferring Tsurugi as Touki's love interest, Saya has made fewer and fewer appearances in the manga, making it difficult for Akane to fully immerse herself in the role. Her struggles are compounded by differences between the play's script and the original work—differences that also frustrate Tokyo Blade's author, Abiko Samejima.

Aqua, however, is more concerned with his personal goals than he is with the play. He has only one objective in mind: to grow closer to director Toshirou Kindaichi and find out what he knows about Aqua's mother, Ai.

Entire anime is anime does an excellent job into giving us a glimpse into the entertainment industry in Japan. The show reminded me of the classic anime Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon. Opening and ending credits are good and I think it even got even better in Season 2. Season One was soo good... but I was more surprised to find out season 2 was even better! Season 2 had some stunning animations.

But I am getting a bit worried that by the end of season 2 there is hint its including supernatural phenomenon again. I was OK with supernatural act of the 1st episode but ...

Mixed Feelings
Pretty but you can’t take seriously the gamification of acting. Also the scenes are frequently played in a non-chronological order, so there are no set ups and pay-offs, it’s all gathered in one thematic sequence. It leads to some very bizzare choices, like playing out the ending of the play several times, sometimes with the actors already with removed characterization and sometimes still in costumes etc. It doesn’t feel intentional. It just seems lazy for storyboard artists to do character-focused storytelling and jump around the timeline to drive the point home, but avoid most of the build up or subtle exposition. I guess it’s a ...

best part of season 2 was the end credits song
Hitsujibungaku - Burning

just watch the first season and walk away. the second season will bore you to death with the artist's meta mid-life crisis permeating into the story. from what i've read, the contents of the third season will kill what's left of any love you have left for the characters.

the second season is bogged down with overly wordy origin stories for every side character. the whole thing seemed like the artist was trying to work out some of their own life issues and created filler content in the meantime.

apparently i need to ...
