The only word that comes to mind with that art style is "aggressive". We've seen in the past that great art does not mean a great series, as Trigger continues to prove. Let's hope that this series is defined by more than just its art.

OK OK

I got majorly baited... should have noticed who's Hanako from the title...

I only saw the cover, and thought Hanako was the girl in the middle... didn't expect Hanako to be the old-era dude.

Series looks interesting, but still not that sure, since it does felt a bit weird.

As for the art style ppls are talking about, I don't really see what's wrong with it...

In fact, it reminds me of a Manga's drawing style. Since some mangas have thicker outlines on things. Mostly in 4komas tho.

___ ___ ___

Also... if the blond hair dude actually likes Nene... since he's also on the cover...

Does this count as NTR? since Nene had (somewhat feelings) toward the guy at the beginning of the episode. But at the end of episode gets taken by Hanako.

I loved it, but I do worry because it felt like a visual slideshow and not really that well animated. I guess the manga itself isn't easy to adapt to animation.

Nene is easily attracted to handsome boys. Like the 15yr old fan girls towards their favourite idols. Every time she sees a cool dude she stats ogling them. But falls in love with our beloved Hanako-kun.

There is no NTR. The guy in the poster is the brother of the Minamoto (i.e the guy at the beginning).

This was pretty meh, the poor animation didn't help, surprised with the high score.

Mm think I heard Umehara Yuichiro there in the beginning.

Yashiro's already annoying but I can deal with it because Hanako is amazing. Ogata Megumi's voice never fails to impress.

Aesthetically perfect and stunningly cute too. Loved it

Very little actual animation but still managed to look good, felt a bit rushed(even though there wasn't much content) but still was watchable

Loved Akarin here but unsure about Ogata

Well, it wasn't bad. Hanako-san is like a chibi Yato (long time no hearing Megumi Ogata in a main role) and Daikon-chan is cute, but.... I don't really know what to expect about this. Will it be an action-packed serie like Noragami, or a mystery-related serie about ghosts and rumors like, say, Monogatari?

If someone could clarify this, please. Thank you

It will be both. The manga had a cool mix of both mystery and action, but I’d say mainly mystery. This story has a very eclectic mix of genres, it’s kind of hard to place haha. But yeah, mystery is the big one. I’ve not watched Noragami or Monogatari, but I can tell you this will probably be very different from either of them, with the small amount of knowledge I have of those shows, but I can guarantee it’s one hell of a ride.

Well, I'm glad that they did the animation art same as the manga, at first I think that Hanako VA didn't suit at all, but when I watch the first episode it was good tho.

And Nene Daikon feet XD, the fight with the mermaid was longer in the manga I think, need to re-read again from the first chapter. Why they not make it into 24 episode? At least until- I'm almost spoiler, my bad. I don't think the anime can wrap all until the next prob, just hope the anime don't end original without following the manga.

Can't wait to watch the next episode, I need more Hanako-kun!

Aesthetically, the anime looks very unique and gorgeous!!

I'm not sure whether this is because of the fact that Hanako's voice actor is Megumi Ogata, but he surely is giving me this Nagito (from Danganronpa) vibe

That Lerche's director really likes those poping up squre panels. He's been doing it at least since Hakumei to Mikochi.

So what if it has "rape" ??

Survival anime is much more entertaining anime than a bad compedy show. At least it is fun to watch people getting killed and trying to survive in island that has monsters

Don't cut yourself on these edges. Try explaining why you consider Ousama Game is 7-8/10 and Kaguya is 2/10.

An interesting plotline with a beautiful art style and deep thematic concerns. I have a feeling I'm gonna love this.

We don't know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths.
As death comes to embrace you, you will realise what you are.
That's what death is, don't you think?

The art is wonderful, I love it. The characters are cute, I haven't read the manga but the story seems pretty cliché. It reminds me a mix of Mononokean and Yamada-kun 7-nin no majo.
Seems nice btw!

Hanako is cute, helps that he is voiced by Aniki lol the show looks pretty as well. I don't know anything about the manga but it seems like a light-hearted comedy. I wouldn't mind if it got a little darker, but it's fine if it doesn't.

Such a lovely picturebook artstyle and color schemes.
Hanako (looks like Magmel mc) & Yashiro both good design & fun personality... but most this comedy didn't work for me, and they could barely even animate the op.
Wished mc stayed fish for longer could get interesting, but this cross realm bond is good direction still.

so Shinji Ikari died in a girl's toilet, and became an apparition? just kidding :D

Nene is plenty cute even if her legs are not perfect.

the action and mood of the anime reminded me a lot of Hell Teacher Nube. Will keep watching some more episodes before decide to drop or continue.

Amazing art style, like nothing I've ever seen in an anime before. It was refreshing and a treat to see it.

Also, the comedy had me laughing. I'm not a fan of comedy anime and in total only 3 anime have made me laugh, but Jibako Shounen Hanako-kun makes it four!

Looking forward to watching this this season.

Just picked up the dub today. This show looks like it could be decent. I haven't heard much about it but decided to give it a go & am glad I did. interesting premise, but Hanako & Daikon Girl just bounce off each other so well.

I anticipate that just watching their antics together is going to make some of my top moments for the Winter 2020 season.

I was impressed by Nene's self reflection & honesty with herself, admitting that she just wanted to be loved by somebody, rather than the particular guy she's crushing on. That's a pretty mature attitude, especially for a girl in an anime show, they're not normally so self aware, so it's really refreshing to see.

Finally, the animation is a feast for the eyes. The colours, shapes, patterns & character designs have a defined style that works brilliantly.

I was not going to pick this up originally cause' of the plot set-up but it is actually quite well executed. Also hearing ero-daikon is in it of itself a blessing and a big plus.

This type of art style I haven't seen for some time now as well as this usage of one scene for several panels/ manga kinda look. Hanako's voice actor and the character design makes him just so likeable. Seeing how their freindship changes Nene and make her wish come true is sth. I am excited for. Also her brushness sets the comedic tone of many scene.

Gotta love this chibi-ish art style! It kinda reminded me of the game Touch Detective/ Mystery Detective I played years 'n years ago.

Both the OP & ED are great!

Hanako is a big mystery here... I have zero idea where this is going, but I'm already hooked for more!

I mean, she is an older woman ahaha. I wish we got Ayumu or Daiking or Kazutomi (the golden trio of shota voices) voicing the main boy, would be a better fit.
Also, I agree, it's a bit mediocre/boring. I will give it more episodes though.

I've been meaning to watch this since it's announcement but got busy for a while so here I am now. Totally digging the whole aesthetic of this show by the way. The contrast, the saturation, the bold outlines, I really like it a lot. I see some people are put off from the chibi-ish artstyle but I really love it and it's one of the reasons I've been anticipating this show. A decent introduction episode. I might pick up the manga as well sometime in the future.

I enjoy the art but there is certainly a limited amount of frames.
Hat dude is probably the most interesting character. the girl kinda is bland and uninteresting.
