Pains me to say this but I thought this finale was really bad.

Mob "losing himself" in his power came completely out of nowhere, and went away just as fast as it appeared. Then we get a very on-the-nose shounen friendship trope where you can't give up, and I know that the show is a shounen but it usually deals with that with a lot more subtlety or grace. The fight animation itself was pretty cool, but the impact of the events never really hit hard like it did in the Mogami fight and the Shimazaki fight. Suzuki was uninteresting to begin with so it's not like the fight was interesting from a narrative standpoint. And to top it off, Suzuki pulls a complete 180 when it's obvious he was about to lose and then finally understands mob. Which would make way more sense if we got the flashbacks of him not being a total asshole before that change of heart, not after. This really needed another episode to pace it out better.

So did I like anything about the episode? Well, everything after the fight was cool at least. Solid wrap up to the show. I knew some people were wondering if the season was gonna end with mega broccoli and I guess they were right lol.

Overall, strong start, phenomenal middle. Show went downhill some when focus went to Claw, and finale was honestly pretty terrible. I'll probably give it a 7/10. maybe an 8 just became of the Mogami/Reigen episodes. All of those episodes were amazing. Wish it lasted.
Mob losing himself didn't come completely out of anywhere him loosing himself to his emotions is a constant reoccurring element of his character, in this instance he was fighting against someone he felt anger towards mixed with the aspect that he was a psychic on par with him giving him the exhilaration of a real fight.
Subtlety and grace? you're joking right that aspect of the show in dealing with friendship was never subtle at all it's very in your face with monologues and contemplation the Mogami and reigan stuff and the major arcs in season 1 had this in abundance as well.

The idea of friendship and empathy is a constant thematic that was built up throughout the series and also a major factor in the mogami arc.

Suzuki was arguably more interesting than Mogami, Mogami was sympathetic, but Suzuki was lost in his own world and ego, he didn't have a tragic backstory to stimulate his character arc, he thought he was the most special and wanted to impose his presence over everyone, a perfect foil to the thematics of mob, while having all his backstory shows that while still being self-centered and egotistical he was affected by someone, "hence his line of losing his way, which traditionally refers to good guy going bad in his past but in this context refers to a bad guy going good. As to why Mobs words had an effect on him in the end, he was on his deathbed as a result of his own power, and in his moments of knowing about his approaching doom he was vulnerable and thought about a significant moment in his life which gave him something that he still wanted to live for which wasn't his goal of domination but his wife that had an effect on him something he was in denial off. And mob helping him would be a radical catalyst to sympathize with this boy in that exact moment.
We got the flashback during the change of heart, which is narratively the perfect moment for it to bring the necessary context.

I'm so disappointed... the ending was trash. I was looking forward for epic moments like in S1 but it never happened...
Also I really disliked the sparkly 100% mob and when he was ???% i got chills all over my body but they had to ruin it :(
The ending was fantastic for its emotional development which was significantly better than season 1.

I've read the manga and I remember I absolutely loved this part, but this episode appeared to be rushed way too much. The editing was off as well. Extremely underwhelming.
I don't know what you were talking about having just read the manga they are exactly the same the only difference was they cut out the emotion indicator and what was off about the editing.

First Mob, then Dimple, now Serizawa. Spirits and Such Consultation Office is extending.

To be precise, I enjoyed the second season up to ep8. I couldn't buy anything afterwards with Sho's dad booming on screen as villian all of sudden, panting up about his powers and wanting muh world domination. So cliched.

I appreciate all the development of Mob and Reigen this season has offered, but the last five episode seems like a pretence to end everything on a grandiose note. Not impressed tbh. I like season one more.

If there's another sequel in the plan then I'm very looking forward to it. 6/10
How was he a sudden villain he was set up in the previous season and his character fits perfectly as a thematic for the show and built upon mobs development.

that was his motivation throughout the story to get together with the girl he liked something that makes mob different from other shounen protagonists. He has a simple goal of any adolescent boy of wanting to create a relationship with the girl he always had a crush and with that comes the strongest desirable emotions that any person can experience. This comes full circle with the boss someone that is the polar opposite of mob yet still experiences that same connection with someone that mob desires. Hopefully I worded that properly I'm a bit drunk.

This last story arc didn't really do it for me. This show peaked around halfway with some amazing episodes, but these last few just didn't really manage to wow me (apart from the amazing animation), lacking that emotional impact the earlier episodes had. I still liked it, would watch a season 3 if they ever get to it.

The battle was good, but not as good as some fights from the previous episodes.

A happy ending indeed, that broccoli destroyed me. xD

Too bad in the end Mob didn't ask out that girl he has a crush on. Maybe in another season or something? :p

This season was great. Way, way better than the previous one if you ask me. Everything was in place, sasuga animation was even more sasuga and the direction felt more dynamic.

Fantastic season.
The character development was so well done and the animation was sick.
Hilarious instead of a destructive mushroom cloud we got a giant broccoli :D

Dimple / Reigen and Mob evolved so much during this season and I honestly believe they did a fantastic job.

Oh my, if THAT is the spectacular finale manga readers hyped up all the time, then I'm disappointed to say the least.
The story destroyed the brutal cliffhanger, we got at the end of episode 8, literally 5 minutes into episode 9 and everything after that has been your typical battle shounen with a villain, changing his year long ambitions faster than you can blink, through a person he's been fighting for what, a few minutes? And for the epilogue, it's not particulary bad, just anti climatic.

MOB is best when it was going the slice of life + serious routes (such as episode 1, the amazing episode 4+5 combo and the Reigen ep 6+7 story) but just as in season 1's last episodes, the author REALLY wants to shovel in a battle oriented story we've seen thousands of times before already.

All I can see is how this series is sailing on its' smooth animations and sometimes its' Reigen moments. Want to name MOB's growth as well? I do not, because I don't see him overshadowing even the likes of Deku from "Hero Academia" in that regard.

All this sounded harsh but in the end, the show is not bad. Far from it. The worst aspects, namely art (not animation),characters and the ending are at the very least average while others (the Openings and animation) are top tier.

Season 1: 6/10
Season 2: Was thinking of 7/10 before the final episode but since not even this one was impressing I'm at a bind here.
Kinda same for me. Although other episodes were also enjoyable for me but ep.1, ep. 4 & combo of ep. 6-7 (+ episode 8 later on, ep. 11 fight and ep.5 fight) were the top moments of this show.
Episode 5 and 13 both were rushed in comparison to manga but bones delivered them by animation.

A bit weird end to the fights scene. However, when the fathers of Sho realise his mistaken, its well enough to give this show a solid 10 as my final scores. To hell with that giant abnormal broccoli tree. The entire series was abnormal, so why i even mention it here? Geez. Okay. Back to the topic. Amazing ending in the amazing show, must be good to pointing out my whole minds. Hope to see you again in the future, Mob kun.

I was wondering the same thing! when was he planning to ask Tsubomi out! after the end of the world!! Plus she has such a tiny role in this anime.
I was reading bits and pieces of the manga and in that he does ask her out in the end.
But ya, a good second season. So many people with powers.

that was great, this season overall i thought was a massively better to the last season. Everything felt like a big one up, i really liked the story of season 2, returning characters felt properly used and new characters were interesting. They really showed off the amount of change Mob has undergone since all the way back in ep 1 season 1, and even further developing his character tremendously this season, along with other characters. This season overall was a great balance of an action story and character development.
Loved the story overall this time around, great continuation from last season which ended with a massive note that mob and the crew had most definitely entered the big league, and what they had done would not be unnoticed. They did a great job at making tough situations for mob that were more dependent on his willpower and what he wanted e.g. when he was being pressured to perform an exorcism on the spirits. Returing characters from squad 7 was an absolute delight to see. I was praying they weren't a one time party trick at the end of season 1, Reigen has literally changed there way of thinking and opened their eyes for them, it would of been such wasted potential to not use them. But seeing them again, and giving them such a massive role as well made me like this anime a lot more. Newer characters like big boss man, Serizawa or Shimazaki were decent. Big boss man reasons for world domination and ideals, were all understandable and average, Serizawa was an interesting character, being a shut in then being brought out by the boss only to be used as a tool, but later coming to terms with what he was doing was wrong and acting on it was good. Shimazaki's character was.... ok. I really thought the only point of his character was for the action scenes and foreshadow his appearance later down the line as he really didn't care about the world domination thing. But Sugiyama Noriaki voice was so, ooooooooooh~~~
The way the plot was delivered felt very close to season 1's though, some simple SOL things with mob performing an exorcism or two, then suddenly a sudden burst of action that blows your mind, then returning to calm few more episode, onto the big mob facing an entire fucking esper organisation and the end few episodes being him taking all of them down. Honestly this season's sudden twist to avert our eyes to the big bad guy was wayyyy more quick then season 1's (which was actually nicely tied in with Ritsu's arc). It felt more like a snap beginning at mobs house being burnt down, and then the final arc. Didn't mind this so much, the shock factor was definitely one to remember, seeing mob after the marathon and the calm last few episodes, to a literal maximum overdrive to the next arc was something.
Arcs such as Mogami vs Mob or Regiens fall out with mob, that were focused more on character development (Mogami vs Mob was more a balance of action and character development tbh) were so amazing well done at portraying characters reflecting on what they had done leading up to their moment, and changing. What Mogami showed mob in his genjutsu fabricated world was such a massive push to mob's own self esteem and realisation to how lucky he truly was to have all his friends, and it was also shown extraordinarily well at the end, with his 1 to 1 with Serizawa and the boss, openly expressing how he felt, along with why what they were doing was incorrect. Reigen's arc got me so emotional for some reason. I think it was seeing his realisation that he had got blinded by hid so so "stable" way of life, he thought he could do anything. But after loosing mob and getting exposed, realised how truly alone he was in the world.
Art definitely felt a tiny bit more higher quality in my opinion, the action scenes were peak performance
Side note, i think i can confidently say i love both season 1 and season 2's opening and ending theme songs equally. They are just absolute bangers.
All in all, this anime balanced intense, out right amazing fighting and action scenes with great character interactions and development, something i felt like season 1 couldn't really balance properly.
9/10 anime from me, now season 3????

That’s a huge ass broccoli. It represents my love for this show.

While this show had its epic highs, I still like the first season just a bit more. Episode 5 had all the climactic elements for me, mixed in with some psychological warfare. Ending fight was too generic. If you’re going just do the standard beat em up, go all out like saitama vs boros. Also I wanted more of mob and tsumbi however you spell her name. Also teleportation dude kind of just disappeared, HIS fight was some good stuff.

But all this is just stuff that I wished for that didn’t happen, if I’m trying to find things that I would consider as flaws, I see none, only nitpicks, like pacing perhaps, but even then that is really reaching.

Episode 5 and 11 were glorious, and for those alone this season deserves an 8/10 just like the first season.

An amazing finale, the fight in the beginning was spectacular, although this season toned down on the comedy a bit, the character writing and development more than made up for it. This has becomes my 5th show to be given a 10/10. Loved every episode, there was never a dull moment, Reigen's arc in particular was my favorite part of Season 2.

Thank you ONE and Bones for creating this epic series and adapting it. Apart from the sakugafest the story was so good, I had my fair share of many tearjerking moments from ep1,ep5,ep7 and ep13. Seeing the kind Mob devloping from an emotionaless boy to a kind and devloped character and finding his place in society was amazing. Reigen, Ritsu, Teru, Suzuki, Former Claw 7, upper echelon and many characters had their share of good character devlopment which is highly appreciated. Thank you.

amazing season, if only i watched it sooner as i forgot who most of the side chars were. i do agree with the MAL scores and say this was better than S1. there were good char devs for both mob and reigen, and the finale action was awesome. somewhat disappointed the big bad boss is somehow still alive, and there wasnt as much comedy as S1, which kept me focused to the good enough story overall...

World domination arc was 11/10. Seriously amazing, way more than I expected. The season as a whole wasn't as good as these last episodes but still good enough to garner a 9/10. I am definitely going to read the manga to see how this story ends. I love the animation. Love the characters. My favorites were mob, reigen, sho, and teruki. Absolutely amazing show, I did not expect to love this so much. Especially after a disappointing season 1.

Not the best conclusion I've seen and the fight wasn't my favorite either but regardless, the season as a whole was a massive improvement over the first for me even if some episodes near the end weren't exactly up my alley. The first 8 or so episodes were clean and strong 10/10 but I think I'll settle for maybe an 8 or a 9 overall for the season. Thankfully I'm leaning more towards the latter for now. But still, what an amazing season.

Lots of character growth and 10/10 moments wrapped up into one. That broccoli joke at the end also made me laugh lol. I'll miss mob once I finish all the other ovas and entries tomorrow.

Mob made that building based chibaku tensei thingy to trap the boss. It was on the show's official poster too

Mob understands that not everyone can be redeemed.

Lol, so Mob must have acted as a bridge between the power emitted by the Boss and the broccoli seeds. So they took in all that power and grew into a humongous broccoli.

Looks like Sho'd family issues have been solved. To some extent at least.

Serizawa had a glow-up and got a job. Hopefully, he'll turn his life around.

That was a banger episode and season in general.

This season's animation was better than the first one. The story was great, the feels were great, the characters were great and honestly, I feel like the second opening has grown on me.

I don't really have any complaints tbh. Eager for S3 though lol.

Absolutely fucking amazing. The art/animation has been a slight improvement over S1; sound quality is more or less the same but the characters improved by leaps and bounds, especially Reigen, the final episode of whose arc was the best in this season, even more than the climactic battle. The villains, or rather the antagonists, were also used quite well IMO in this season. The broccoli tree inside of a city was quite hilarious. Guess ONE is all for planting trees to combat global warming, huh?

My only question is where the hell is that Emiya guy with teleportation and Mind's eye, though I guess we will have to wait till S3 drops. No clue how they're going to have a story after this but if they do, they better give Dimple-sama an arc of his arc.

Well... that was the least likely route I expected this anime to take.

Honestly, they rushed things a lot during this season imo. That had to be the fastest boss arc in any anime lmao. I have no complaints about the quality (animation and characters) but more on the story/plot part. Mob is the most wholesome Mc in any anime I've seen, he's been dropping facts left and right during these last episodes. Animation was off the mark, animators deserve a lot of credit.

I'm so hyped for S3 tho, I'm intrigued to see what the mangaka does after this.
