Episode 17 - Connecting Hearts: Inaba is captured by some guys and everyone get the message "Save me" their hearts really connected and so they could save Inaba, and now Iori is herself, living her life without a restraint, living freely at her will, having her fake self and her ideal self merged to have a strong Iori or like she say "All right! Nagase Iori's back, baby!" Iori finally get to accept herself with her flaws and problems, she finally get to be free, embrace her dark side, her cheerful side, all of her personas. In Iori character we get what can be a real life person with flaws and many masks that in the end can accept him/herself. "I need you! Definitely! I love you! I love you! I love you! I love you! I love you so much! I love you so much! I love you so much! I love you so much! so, so, so much! Love me back! Make love to me! I love you!" (Inaba inner to Taichi) A good end for this great anime. 5/5 (10/10 for the 1st Arc and the 2nd Arc, they are both great and different) |

Oh Inaba, you deserve all what you like <3 demet, it's one of my favs and perfects tsunderes at this point of my anime life lol xD. I'M SO HAPPY!!! Well the series was really great, I like a lot, specially the first part (the 12 ep anime), this "specials"were a little slow, but in exchange reveal some good details of the every day relations. I'm so happy and nobody else to understand what I'm talking about x'D, so, sorry for being me here :') Thank you Kokoro Connect, you made me happy :') |

I was amazed at how deep they get into the character's perspective. I also wished that Taichi ended up with Iori but I guess the majority likes Inaba more. Sigh That scene where Taichi and Iori is in a dream sequence is heartbreaking 8/10 |

Not sure why, but in the end, especially w/ the ovas, I just didn't 'connect' with this show as much as I thought that I would. It got rave reviews, so I assumed that I'd love it. I even bought it before I watched it. [oops?] The original show itself got a 7/10, as annoying as some of the melodrama w/ Iori was, I still really enjoyed the characters. But the damn ova... too much Iori-being-an-dramatic-bitch-over-something-that-all-of-the-other-characters-were-going-through-as-well. Especially since the last 'arc' of the tv series already addressed her whole 'identity' thing. Also, her feelings for Taichi were really sporadic [his were too, if I'm honest.] Thankfully Taichi and Inaba had had enough previous development/interactions, that when he decided that he loved Inaba, it didn't feel too forced. [a bit underplayed though.] 6/10 Good tv series, disappointing ova. We didn't even get a hint as to what heartseed was either. :b |

That scene with Inaba and Taichi in the infirmary was hilarious. This was a so much better ending than the one the main series gave us, I'm glad I decided to watch this after all. |

Well that was...dramatic. Had they called the police earlier right when they figured out Inaba's location, Taichi wouldn't have to get injured. Also think it's a bit weird to be dating someone in front of someone you used to like. Sure you can like someone else, but those old feelings don't disappear that quickly.. It ended nicely though, so 7/10. |

wellp, i'm kind of disappointed that after that scene in the first season with iori almost dying and getting her first kiss with taichi, somehow he ends up with inaba, although she feels a lot for him. it's just not...right, and i think that the love between iori and taichi is stronger overall, even though there were these moments of madnes...it left me feeling kind of incomplete. If there'll be more, i probably would watch it. This anime had nice morals and great character development, but the romance part although started nice somehow it went downhill. I'm sure this ending will please most of the people that watched it but tbh i think iori x taichi was way more nice after that dying scene. so yeah...this is a solid 7/10 and since first season is like an 8.25/10 this is 8ish in my books. Great anime nevertheless, extremely complex. Also as a sidenote, the fact that we still don't know a lot about this experiment and heartseed itself, is also a bit of downsider. But this is just my harsh critique on a very good anime! it had the potential to almost go there, that's why i am a bit harsh with this one :) |

8.1/10 its a solid anime--it delivered exactly what the plot, genre, and other reviews said that it would. it did a little more with that thrilling and suspensful bridge scene, along with the kidnapping scene. i love events like that because you don't expect it, and im a person who loves a surprise like, especially because I don't see it often in other series. this is actually the highest rated slice of life that ill definitely recommend to my friends. now when my friends ask whats a slice of life that i like or recommend, i can say Kokoro connect instead of toradora (which i hated) nice job! |

I thought this OVA was a lot better than the final arc of the TV series. And if that final arc kind of put me off of it a little bit. This OVA kind of makes me want to read the LNs. Because despite all the dumb plot points. Despite its repetitiveness. Despite how cliche the romances and love triangles are. There's a bit of truth in all of these characters. And I find myself compelled to see where the author would take their stories. This arc focused heavily on Iori. And it was all essentially stuff we'd seen before about her character. But it was better realized here than in any of the previous arcs. Despite the similarities to the second phenomenon. This new one really helped them suss out the big story they wanted to tell with her. And concluded it satisfyingly as well. Part of me thought they dragged depressed Iori out for too long. On some Get in the Robot shit. I was so impressed by how they concluded it I didn't mind. There's something powerful about not wanting people to see your true self. It's something everyone can relate to at some point. If the people around me knew some of the awful things I've thought about them. They'd no longer want anything to do with me. Are common feelings people have. And how they depicted that in the club room scene that sets it all in motion was genuinely kind of wrenching. And on top of that Inaba's snap out of it speech was actually pretty effective. It's simple but something people should take away from this arc. Don't push yourself too hard to be what you think people want you to be. If your friends truly can't accept who you are. Then find new friends. I thought the climax was super corny. Kidnapping is always kind of hackish plot point. But I loved seeing them come together after being disjointed for so long. I felt genuinely happy seeing them all use their different strengths to help Inaba. And Iori using her own inconstant nature to her advantage at the end. Yui rushing over and hugging her seeing her friend back to normal was really sweet too. I was torn throughout Kokoro Connect's anime. Between being genuinely moved by it and caring what happened to the characters. And rolling my eyes at how dumb it could be. This OVA found itself in the former category more than the latter. So I give it a 7/10. |

That asking out was so forced that I almost puked. Relationship with Inaba is one of the worst things which I've ever seen in romance anime. I mean, even ending of Nisekoi wasn't that forced. Fuck it. Iori is the only person for him. 5/10. |

Overall, I really enjoyed this series. At one point, though, I was on the fence about it. I was only mildly annoyed with Iori's character in the beginning, but the last arc had me doubting whether this series was "great" or just "okay." But let's talk about this show's romantic subplot, which ended up doing something I had never seen before in anime: Letting the underdog Best Girl win the love triangle. Although it was somewhat a bait-and-switch, the move didn't come entirely out of the blue or anything. I could see that Taichi's relationship with Iori looked reasonable, but too flimsy (or "immature" as the show puts it) to last. But how many shows actually go with the relationship they merely teased to create conflict with the main relationship, or just flat-out deny it as a one-way love? I could see the chemistry between Inaba and Taichi, but Inaba was clearly positioned as the underdog (who I almost always end up rooting for) before the end. I was legitimately stunned. |

Feels bad 4 Iori. All the crap kept happening to her and then Inaba was like well suck it up, even when some of the shit that happened to her was Inaba''s fault. I had been rooting for Inaba troughout the whole show to be honest, but it feels like Iori just gets the short straw here, on top of everything telling Iori that she had an erotic dream with Taichi would probably make her feel worst. I believe she still liked him, she didn´t reject Taichi because she did not like him. I know Inaba was trying to help her and all but still I feel bad for her. At least she didn´t lose her friends. |

Let me tell you a story about why I'm ended up here. Let's say I'm trying to search for gender bender manga randomly in MAL, and then i found Kokoro Connect, the manga version, in the search result. Then I remember something, about this title is already have anime version, so I start to watch this. I can say, this anime is full of emotion. At some point the emotion brings me with them. But I love how they could keep their friendship after that amount of huge waves attack them. After finished the original 13's, I thought "ahh taichi will ended up with iori, right". But then, I watch the left 4, and here comes my deep hope, he ended up with inaba ! (OMG i don't know how that happen) 9/10 for the left 4, no doubt. Now I must try to find another anime like this for fill the empty slot... |

I guess this ended well, the episode closed everything pretty satisfactory. Not going to say I'm exactly happy with how Inaban won with Taichi by default but I guess they are suited each other. Iori still the best girl though, but can't really see Taichi with her right now, not after what happened and how he doubted her before (although he also saved her then). But I actually loved that little something they had within their minds, seems like they understand each other probably the most out of other club members. They still share this little something towards each other and can confide to each other just about everything now I guess. I hope they stay friends. The drama that let to Iori's catharsis was really good and the way she helped them in the gym probably took a lot of her courage. Can't say I'm absolutely fine with how she instantly became friends with Setouchi but then again it fixed the relations in their class and I like how she changed her hairs (a little bit Inaba-style but well). The announcement of Taichi x Inaba relationship infront of whole school was just marvellous :D (and their costumes too btw) All in all, have to say I enjoyed this series a lot. There were some needless cliche/trope moments along the way but also many scene that broke the usual scheme. It partly reminds me of Monogatari but not quite and really like the way how character dynamics work here. And the new term brings the new ones to shuffle everything up again. So, to learn how the rest of the series ends now I'll have to read the rest of the book (the only shame here is that the last three ones are still not translated). 8/10 Relationship-driven story with very interesting characters and some minor flaws but still recommended. |

I thought for sure they were setting up Iori and Taichi to be together, and I was sad but I'm used to characters I ship not ending up together so I was like oh well whatever. I was really surprised and happy that Inaba and Taichi actually ended up together! Overall this was a really solid series with a satisfying ending that wrapped things up nicely. |

I like this show, it was slow sometimes and not that interesting but still its was cool and frighteningly realistic. One thing i didn't like was that the poor Iori end up putting up her fake cheerful and happy mask again, i mean Yui also had to end up with Aoki even if she really didn't want it but they all kind of get the happy ending, Inaba SURELY got one... and so on but not Iori, that's my only complain. Also my final score is 8/10. |

That thug was pretty retarded. Man what a great conclusion to this final arc and to the show. I'm really satisfied and while I was almost fed up with Iori, I still gotta say that her characterization was pretty decent writingwise, same goes for the other characters as well. And surprisingly Taichi even ended up with Inaba, way to go. 7,5/10 It was really close to an 8, tho. |

The best arc since the first one IMO, but still a little too over the top and emoesque for my taste. My friend and I were making Linkin Park jokes through the last three episodes lmao. I'm conflicted about the relationship development, but that imaginationsphere "farewell" scene, if you will, was pretty fucking sad for me. Taichi and Iori were my ship. But I do like Inaba too... The masturbation scenes were my favorite part of this series, 10/10 for those. |

This was so terrible I'm actually amazed. The first thirteen episodes were bad, yet somehow digestible. These four episodes were just shit piled on top of shit. Iori's personality was re-engineered so many times, I think she embodied her ridiculous character flaw as literally as fictionally possible. I think the series as a whole could have been an engaging and emotional character driven coming-of-age drama/romance. and that's what I was expecting. It had all of the pieces, but it was just put together in the laziest and most arrogant way. Reading comments on here, I'm convinced now more than ever that the majority of anime fans actually prefer terribly written schlock over anything else when given a choice. |

Just finished the series! Good place to conclude and definently a decent way to end the show. In my opinion if they kept this show going it may have been a little bit repetitive with the drama so I think it was a overall good conclusion. P.S. always rooted for inaba (dereban). I always thought that the taichi x inaban duo would be a good match considering inaban had no faith/trust in others while taichi the opposite being a “selfless freak”. While inaban is kinda like the dark, taichi is the light. |

Going from what MaL states, this is technically OVA episodes, but at the same time is technically the final arc? Imma talk just on these 4 episodes alone, and not to much as the anime as a whole. yeh that was good, i actually liked the ending. Sure it wasn't the perfect ending, but it checked enough boxes for me to say "hay, that was pretty good" Off the bat, the best way i can describe these 4 episodes would be along the lines of "imagine finally biting into a delicious muffin that you've been fantasising on eating all day. thinking that those chocolate chips were REALLY chocolate chips, only to find out they weren't and in fact fucking RAISINS" I wholeheartedly enjoyed the first 2 episodes. Iori was always the most distant character, she kept to herself on her personal/ family issues, always tried to put on a smile to cheer everyone up and was probably the most valuable to stress. Seeing her finally break down from pressure and stress from all the unnatural events, was eventually going to happen and SilverLink did a pretty good job at showing it. They did a good job at her showing her real self, how she was fed up with everything, how she could no longer handle being positive to cheer others up when she herself couldn't even cheer herself up. Her drastic change of attitude was really shown when she talked back to characters, expressing her true feelings to characters and the situation and sometimes going with the "non-cliche" ending. These 4 episodes did a great job on expanding and developing Iori as a character. However the last 2 episodes really didn't sit well with me, Kokoro connect literally have a "villian" specifically made to cause mayhem and pandemonium, yet they choose NOT to end the 4 episodes (let alone the entire anime) with his final act . The whole "Inaba suddenly role playing as Taichi and deciding to do a 1v3 clutch against a bunch blockheads" flopped as hard as you'd think it would. It felt forced for her to suddenly do that, and more as an excuse to progress Iori's "i'll think about it" dialogue she chose. But it dosen't stop, sure i was happy Iori finally found who she wanted to be and could finally relax, but then out of the bloom like a father who left his family until he heard they won the lottery, blockhead no.3 suddenly used his self revive skill and followed them for god knows how long, and for god knows what reason they didn't see yet even HEAR the wandering psycho while they were alone in a silent area. Dude must of fucking had dead silence or something for all i know. Either way, Taichi jumping in to take the blow, was the most Taichi thing you could think of and i really wasn't surprised. But the finale conclusion for the gang was pretty good in my eyes. Iori and Taichi reset their friendship, Taichi and Inaba both have the love life together they deserve with lots of pampering wanted from Inaba probably, Aoki and Yui yes, and it wouldn't really be a Kokoro connect ending without Heartseed the main antagonist of the show, getting little to no character development or any explanation wouldn't it :) all in all, 7/10 to these 4 episodes and the anime then if its the true conclusion for this anime. |

This arc knocked Iori down a notch for me. Especially after everything they've all been through together, she should have trusted her friends more and let them know that she was feeling pressured to put on a certain face all the time. Her entire arc should have ended the moment Inaba laid into her. Aoki does the best he can with what little screen time he gets. He's definitely going to wind up winning Kiriyama over. Dear God, Dereban is just too much win. I didn't really know what to make of her in the beginning, but I was a fan ever since her first arc. She and Taichi are a much more natural and suitable couple than he and Iori. They're able to be their true selves, and they just have great chemistry. Seeing her slowly evolve from Tsunban to Dereban was amazing. As far as the switch from Iori to Inaban, I didn't feel that it was sudden at all. Taichi made a point of trying to move on after he got rejected. He said he still loved her, but that didn't necessarily mean that he still wanted to be together; you don't turn off romantic feelings that quickly. The fact is, he and Iori were always walking on eggshells with each other, for various reasons both in and out of their control. It was just as they said; an immature love that just never took off. Meanwhile Inaban had always been in his mind ever since the confession, and they were already close even before then. Taichi accepted that it just wouldn't work with Iori, and realized he had something great right next to him. Anyone who says his switch from Iori to Inaba was sudden simply hasn't been paying attention to the trio in the last few episodes. (I don't think that Iori just went back to normal in the end. She had unloaded a huge burden, and was now choosing to be herself. Thanks to the relief, freedom and acceptance she now felt, that true self just happened to be pretty happy and energetic. If she was actually feeling anxious about any particular thing, we would have seen that.) |

Ending was more satisfying than anticipated. Iori still feels like a somewhat poorly written character and too annoying for my taste. I dont know if there are sequel novels, but them not really explaining Who balloon vine is and what his motives are (tho his motives are easy to figure out) was a bit of a let down. Still good anime and fun to watch. Inaba best character by far. |

I'll read the novels soon, especially since the anime only adapted like a third of the overall story from looks of things. But it was nice seeing Inaba and Taichi go out together. Taichi suddenly needing Inaba felt a tad sudden like that but in the end, they had great chemistry together and obviously would work well as a lovable couple for the long run. The way Inaba went to sit by Taichi at their date was really sweet and clingey and lovey-dovey, pretty much went Dereban mode like what Iori started calling her. Kokoro Connect overall has been quite the unique show. It's atrocious and beyond annoying at times with so much forced dialogue and drama and twists (with conveniences everywhere given Heartseed's powers and lack of real exposition about it), but while I have to give it a low score for all the bullshit its featured, Himeko Inaba carried the show for me BIG time with how lovable she was and with her really nice development too once she confessed her feelings to Taichi and started really falling for him and trusting in her friends more often. Even Taichi while not great, was alright and definitely a nice person with some odd yet fun moments at times with Inaba and was another positive I'd say in the show. Aoki was meh, Yui and Iori was beyond frustrating for me. Overall, its a bad show but among the trash, bits of treasure were there. |

A satisfying conclusion to an unsatisfying arc. I didn't care for this OVA as much as the main series, mainly because we had already seen Iori's issues before and it didn't feel like enough new material was presented. The series never felt repetitive like this arc, and this was more like a loop of Iori pushing everyone away because she doesn't know who she is and can't accept other people's feelings, and others trying to get closer. The kidnapping plot was silly in a bad way. The question about whether Taichi really loved her was interesting. I really thought they'd get together because they seemed to hold hands in the opening. I was pleasantly surprised by Inaba actually stepping forth. She's the one who got the most character development, as Iori, despite all the focus on her, still seems to be in the same condition, albeit accepting herself more. Taichi kept saying that even if she doesn't know who she is, he'll still love her. The series in the end questions whether that attitude is actually romantic at all. If the person's sense of self doesn't matter, the love seems impersonal. As I've grown older, I've found more and more how important this kind of love is. But it's not a great starting point for a relationship. It doesn't make you feel special. Also, their relationship was always more about a rescuer and a damsel in distress. The rescuer character was the typical main male character in romantic comedies for a long time, and only in recent years it's been replaced by the aloof, sarcastic type. As a result, Taichi didn't feel that special, as I felt I'd seen him so many times before. The drama in the main series was really enjoyable, and what's rare I even found it funny at times. Not so much this arc. So 8/10 for the main series, 6/10 for the OVA, Inaba's final developments pushing this above the average. |

Sweet finale to end the series! Certainly a gratifying close to this final arc which has for the most part been fine, in all honesty. Reading through the post of the user above, I can relate a lot of his/her points to my experience. Iori's rediscovery process seemed really appealing with Episode 13's cliffhanger but the execution after that has been so-so. Taichi's attitude during the course of the arc was really immature and I'm glad he admitted to that in a sense by mutually ending the relationship and acknowledging that he was more likely in for the relationship just for the sake of being in one. Dat ost in the background during the confessions though, it's been on repeat for a while. 'Nuff said. Dereban. Yes! I freakin' loved her character in the main series but this episode alone makes me love her twice folds xD. Add Sawashiro Miyuki-san's stallar performance on top of that, and it's just perfection. Adding her to my favourites list, seriously. Two scenes in particular, the mind spill and the final cuddling scenes were just too adorable. 10/10 moments. Easily one of the cutest reactions to a proposal, that. Good to see that Iori's genkiness is back, meanwhile. I'm really going to miss this cast, honestly. A bit more closure on Yui and Aoki wouldn't have hurt but welp. Seeing all of them using telepathy to their advantage in the beginning and come out of this ordeal with stronger bonds is really heartwarming. Heartseed turned out to be an entity with some kind of positive intentions after all, as suspected. I'm kind of glad they didn't put too much emphasis on who and what it is, sometimes certain things are better left unknown. ED theme was a real pleasure, too. Actually, all the themes were good. Silver Link. didn't let us down with the Animation Quality as well so that's another plus. All in all, it was fun 17 episodes and I'm surely going to miss the series. This final arc, however, gets a 7/10 from me. High 7. Almost an 8, basically. Maybe my thoughts may change in the near future but a 7/10 for the time being is more true to my experience. Edit: Easters break well spent. |

It took Taichi a knockout to the head for the show to get bearable, if only I knew he would come to his senses and ask Inaba out I would have vouched for a truck™ to slam him to the nearest hospital from episode one. |

Sugram22 said: I’m not mature enough? Lmao, this was one of the worst animes I’ve ever seen bruh. Every arch after the first one was terrible and so dumb that I started to consider this more of a comedy (and a bad one). That last arch with they transforming into babies was just the cherry on the top. The relationship choice was still weird imo but the anime got so many other reasons to be considered trash after that. This show has to be the opposite of mature 😂KirytsuShinze said: It's just me that here on iori team ?..
