Jesus Christ. This was probably the most suspenseful thing I've ever watched. I spent most of the episode crying due to nerves and the obvious emotional stuff. It was awesome. |

After years of The Walking Dead avid watching, whenever I see someone get afflicted with a deadly poison/venom on a limb, I automatically think that it may get amputated, so I wasn't particularly bothered or surprised by the scenes. This anime has been consistently great from the beginning. While it seems adventurous and kid-oriented due to the art, it's very riveting and deep nonetheless. And finally that furball from the OP makes an appearance. It seems really cute and mysterious. Gotta add to the party! :D |

Titadou said: Mygosh I can't stand Riko, she's so useless since the first episode. By all standards, she's not useless. She's held back by her physical limitations, but she's got the brains. Let's remind ourselves that what she's doing for a kid her age is not accomplished by many much older and psychically capable adults. Really, Reg's got the brawn, while Riko's go the wits. Only when you compare them in a combat-capable situation do you perceive her as useless. Otherwise, she's great. |

Josdavi said: WTF man, how hard and painful was this episode. PS: Has anyone already taken a look or is reading the manga ?: (No spoilers pls) I am interested in knowing if they are omitting some things in this adaptation, also I have doubts on the level of censorship that is having. Many thanks in advance if you respond, anyway I am determined to read the manga when this series ends. Although I am not sure to read it from the beginning or not. None omitted, what was shown in this episode was almost exactly what was in the manga. The only difference was that the manga actually showed Reg trying to cut Riko's bones instead of just us hearing about it. On the other hand, I suppose that would have been too much for television. Oh, and if you thought that was bad, there's worse to come. |

Whats this Japan? An actual anime where the characters made quick decisions, are mature and suffer consequences? This is heretic! I loved when the new character went up and said "it's like a kiss". In EVERY OTHER ANIME we would get three minutes with this lame romantic drama when the character is blushed or something else. But nope. It's life or death, no need to spend time thinking about bullocks. Japan, Japan. Is this even made in your land? Because it's too good to be true. It's waaaay too good to be true. |

I watched a ton of anime, and the scene where Riko is bleeding out and Reg tries to cut her arm has to be one of the hardest and the most suspenseful that I've ever watched, it really made me feel bad for them, I felt really uneasy and really thought for a second that she would have to go on with a major handicap (her hand + other things)... Well, we'll see. |

I think this would've benefited from a longer runtime than the standard 20-21 minutes runtime, mainly for setting up the struggle between the transition of descending to the fourth layer and the creature that was chasing, where spending a bit more time on the creature and the struggle with them overcoming and finding a solution to escape the position in which they are, would allow us to sympathise and feel the struggle they had much more effectively. Next, I think exposition that's been going on from episode one up to now should be reduced to a minimum or should've been set in the earlier episodes, because we're already too deep in the episode count and I find it weird that there is worldbuilding occurring or some other exposition that is going to happen in the next scene or a couple of minutes down the episode. Lastly, there should've been consequences for Riko, else, it's just dark for the sake of being dark, all the screaming and crying will just lose it value and power once you realise that there won't be any consequences for our characters. All in all, a good episode with good acting and with couple of improvements and creative liberty that would've suffice to make this a better episode with real consequence to our characters. |

Oh no.. the Rikodex is broken, how will they be able to identify all the pokemons now? :( OT: Seeing Riko struggle like this kinda makes last week episode feel in a way rather pointless.. But regardless good episode overall i guess (even if most of the running time consisted of mostly just bleeding and screaming), they will probably stay in this layer for quite sometime now because of Riko injury. |

You really wanna start something, huh. Well, I don't know if you've been paying attention to what people have been saying, but I'm not the only one saying this anime has been paced too slowly. Christ, the episodes with Orza, they took an entire episode just to adapt a single chapter of the manga. I shouldn't have to wait 10 episodes for the bass to drop. If it were any other show with less interesting lore and characters I would have dropped it 3 episodes ago. Don't talk like you know me. Humble yourself. |

After having this PTW before the season started and then removing it, I'm still not sure whether I want to start watching it or not. Seems like a whole show of Frodo and Sam in Mordor, only with A) less of a good reason to be there and B) no end in sight. On the other hand, not having seen it is probably going to become more and more annoying over time.... |

Also, everyone who could have stopped riko and reg in the city (aka leader, habo and their friends from the orphanage) didn't do it because they knew that even if they tried they wouldn't be able to stop them. Tl;dr: the whole "why did they let them go?" Argument is not really valid. |

If you want torture porn I'm pretty sure there are plenty of better alternatives outhere with interesting settings, go watch them instead of coming here and spewing that cynical crap. And if they tried to stop they would have failed either way because Riko would never stop attempting to escape, so letting them go unprepared and with ZERO help is somehow better, i think not, also don't forget the state never approved any of this. And there are plenty of reasons for starting the Journey now, Reg's arrival (which is obvuously linked to Riko's mother as seen from her documents), the documents themselves, whistle of Riko's mother and the mysterious message asking her to go into the Abyss (which is confirned to not be written by her mother), and the very damn fact she is already cursed and was born and died already once into the Abyss, afflicting her with the uncontrolable urge to seek the depths of the Abyss as Ozen explicitly explained. So sorry the only crap i see here is your tantrums. |

While i watched this episode i got teary eyed, i was heavy breathing and my legs were trembling. After it finished i lied down to recover from the shock, for about 20 minutes. I was still trembling and my heart was beating fast, and when i got up my vision just got black for around 3 seconds. This never happened to me , even though i watched anime that were supposes to be "sad",or were gore-filled. Also, this really did happen to me. I did not watch this anime beacause i though the round style used for riko and reg was it's art style(welp, it's not),but now i marathoned it to episode 10 and im glad i did... 10/5 never had such an experience in my life. Anime of the year if the remaining seasons do not bring us something truly exceptional.. |

You are the one here who seems to need to see consequence to know it's there. I saw it come and go several times... Up until this point they had been extremely lucky, and they were riding on their luck. If they keep doing that they'll end up dead, or survive by pure RNG. By this logic shounen animes also have consequences and sense of dangers... Except in 99,999% of those shows the hero always finds a way and somewhat always has laughable lucky pure rng. In this fable, even more laughable, the little kid girl who ALWAYS DOES STUPID THINGS surviving against impossible odds despite hunderds of ADULT EXPERIENCED adventures dying on every layers.. There is only so much luck one can take before the whole thing loses its appeal and made in abyss already played that trope so many times, plus never showing any real consquence. @Kariossus Bullseye. Its way too CONVINCENT, I mean did anyone really think for a moment that the girl lose her arm? I certainly didnt, expected a miracle saving, and got that... @Titadou This isnt even a torture porn, 75% of this show pure trash filler contect, and about 1% the so called "gore"... It could have been great if few little child also went with the pair, and we would have seen those dying horribly in absyy, just imagine, now thats a first class material. @Talcon Agreed. 9 episodes and barely anything happened, this whole show, just terribly slow and as heard very unpopular in japan exactly because of that. All this so called world building makes no sense, because its not gonna play any real role anyway. I guess we just cant enjoy fillers This show should have been a 4 episode ova |

Manga I think the ending of 12 episode would be when Nanachi will be leaving to the adventures with them, and then the 13 episode the one hour long special will be featuring the whole "dad of the year" thing+ the duel and it would end with our group entering the elevator. I doubt an hour can cover everything leading to the elevator. more than likely it will be the story of Nanachi and Mitty with some filler extension to pad out the story more. |

I saw stuff on twitter about episode 10 in Made in Abyss and I wasn't going to pick up any anime this season but I was coerced otherwise and I thought it was gonna be some generic anime but when episode 10 came around... holy shit. Not even the furry topped that scene. but those fangs, dayum |

What a nice story. Fit for everyone. :D |

GoldenDevilGamer said: LimeNade said: It's just a lot of blood and gore, nothing else. And too be honest, it's not terribly graphic like Berserk. But it is more disturbing than your average anime.I haven't gotten the opportunity yet to watch past ep 3 as I've been busy but what's this I'm hearing about? Someone said it was Berserk level so are we talking just extreme gore or is a little girl going to get raped by some weird fucking monster? Cause i'd rather see a baby get eaten (like in castlevania) before the japanese rapey town by weird monster happen Just a a lot of blood and gore, after monster penetrated her... |

Shit got real FAST! The beast was damm ferocious, to the point I feel like the plot in cheating on the MCs... And Reg had to break her arm, a bit more and he would have finished severing it too. Really creepy with all the amount of blood pouring out too! |

I'm sorry, this is too painful too watch. I think I'm gonna HURL! *BLEUGH!!* ..... Guys, there is a F&^*ing furry watching me while I puked. The F&%$!! So, last time Riko and Reg got past the Madokajack (DON'T YOU DARE!) and reached the fourth layer, the Goblet of Giants. But don't let the scenery fool you, the thing was just Normal mode, cause now...you're in HARD mode. Turns out that little creature we saw in the end credits before was our next foe, whatever it's name is, it's F&^*ing brutal! It's intelligent, smart, and most of all, RUTHLESS! It's poisonous spines might as well be an insta-kill, and it even managed to knock away Lyza's weapon. And just when things couldn't get any worse, it just did. The Scaled Umbrella wasn't enough to shield the spines, and one of them hit Riko's hand. They retreat and they ascend to the upper goblet. Sadly, the curse sets in whenever you ascend, and this was the worst time to catch it. Riko's eyes bleed nonstop and the poison caused her hand to swell. And what follows might be the most brutal scenes yet. Riko's hand needs to be amputated, and to make it go smoother, Reg has to break her bones. And the visuals are gut wrenching, her arms are twisted and the blood doesn't help. Next is the scream when it breaks, props to Miyu Tomita, who managed to capture the entire scene very accurately. Last time I felt sick during scenes like this was in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. But it might be all for naught as she is losing color and she can't breathe. Of course we know she'll make it, but it's how they make it out that makes the entire ordeal even more gripping, and make us root for the characters to survive. Thankfully enough, our call was heard, as a mysterious wanderer walks in and helps in resuscitating Riko. With Riko still in need of treatment for the hand, Reg takes her and follows the stranger to a house, AND it looks amazing AMAZING!! Where he finds out that their rescuer was a bunny person, and a Hollow too. And so, the plot thickens. *COUGH!!* *BLEUGKH!!!* |
ONWARDS! Away from homework and on to more anime!!! |
