| I think this may have become one of my favorite episodes ever. Everything, from the very title and all the way to the end, is beyond perfect. Laughs and fun mixed in with the drama. Finding warmth in what seems to be a cold, lonely world. Sour turning to sweet… Even the experimental approach of the animation didn’t subtract a single point and instead added in to the charm. I didn’t like Tsubasa at first, but both she and Kazuma look good together. It’s really cute. Downright beautiful—what’s there not to love? I’m still relishing in the aftertaste. In a way, it may even be happiness itself. |

| Kind of disappointed in this episode. Another anticlimax in Tsubasa just leaving Yukino's house was just fine because it used it to move in a typically interesting direction; while this resolves the conflict over her father's remarriage, things have just gotten worse for Tsubasa who's become so frustrated she's losing interest in anything; a bleak accord. It forces the focus to be on her interior life which this series has been good at examining in other characters. But most of the rest of it was just some somewhat sappy comedy. I'm not really convinced by the bond between Kazuma and Tsubasa and this doesn't particularly feel like the Tsubasa who we've been seeing getting more and more frustrated. I feel like it's fobbing off the tension and internal conflict it'd built up since Tsubasa was introduced just for some fairly cheap feel-good yuks. |

| This show is great for not dragging out and overblowing sappy internal conflicts, especially in this case as Tsubasa was acting quite silly in the first place. It gives a really satisfying mix of comedy (which its great at) and drama. |

| Thank god this wasn't dragged out. I hope the focus switches from Tsubasa back to Miyazawa, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the conclusion to her story. Love the blonde kid too. I really like their relationship as siblings, although it seems like the series might turn it into romantic which is eh :/ |

| I actually really like Tsubasa's character arc. She completely took over the show for this episode. But because they slowly introduced her situation, and let us know beforehand that Arima and Miyazawa would be put on hold because of the Kendo Tournament, it doesn't feel out of place and really lets you get invested into something else to hold you over. Liked the shots of signs and buildings from her point of view. really set the mood |

| Anoter amazing episode. I really loved the whole visual style of this one, including crayon paintings! They were very fitting for depiction of the feelings of an insecure, lonely and somewhat childish Tsubasa. I found it interesting that they were done by Kimiko Higuchi, the same person who is responsible for the unique art in Gunbuster ED! There's also an amazing breakfast scene at the Miyazawa household, particularly the shot of the legs under the table, which reflect the feelings of the characters (Tsukino is playful, mama is carefree with her legs leaning to the side, and Tsubasa is very reserved and closed to other people, feeling alien in such a happy family, with her legs just hanging there with no action). Afaik, Anno would later use these under-table leg shots again in his live-action movies. It's kinda art-housy, but really something like a signature style. Also, do I need to say how perfect was the balance between comedy and drama in this story of Tsubasa's new family? Everything worked perfectly in order to advance her character and relationship with her father, step-mother and Kazuma. I really, really sympathize with Tsubasa and her feelings, even teared up in the end! The soundtrack and the thoughtful choice of melancholic imagery and colors contributed to my appreciation of the episode. Hideaki Anno is truly a genius. |

| Apparently one member of Kazuma's band was designed based on Shinji Higuchi's appearance, and another one, "Joker", was voiced by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. Nice little tidbit, I'd say! |

| It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it, is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service. |
