That was...actually thrilling. There's some analysis of the hamster virus, vaccine, etc.

I liked the second half of the episode better, really shows Akeno and the experience of her crew compared when they first came on board their ship. Decent action. Literally on the edge of my seat when the Akeno and the girls are trying to survive against the barrage of attacks, even Mashiro is on board with the others as a team. They just had to add a butt groping scene for some popcorn comedy lol

Warr!
The captain finally knows how to consult to everyone.
I'm happy the rat is not a magical being. I would rather have a sci-fi explanation than a supernatural magic explanation. This is already implied in previous eps but this ep solidifies it.
Harekaze communicating with the school shown more explicitly this episode unlike to the previous episodes where the communicating is implicit.

Well that pretty much explain about the "Virus". But for now, what's important is that full battle scene with every crew working as hard as they can without no interruption. That is so awesome.

Finally some real information about the virus, an epic complete battle scene, a posible "secret investigation where a fatal error may have occurred" revealed, i really liked this episode.

Btw isnt Harekaze the ship where students with worst grades goes? it seems all girls there are f*cking genius... I personally like Kouko the secretary, she has all the info about every other ship, she can take notes about speed, trajectory, gunnery, etc in real-time and use that information to make predictions also in real-time, shes too OP.

Mashiro's onee-san is interesting.
Tho she didn't seem to like it very much.
Well in any case things went well this time and they managed to stop Hiei without taking any damage.
Also the cats seemed to be enjoying things onboard.

This anime makes me think about an American war reporter who did much work during WW2 and Vietnam he said the sometimes the worst soldiers make the best fighters.
What he meant was that someone who has a bad time acting according to military rules doesn't have to perform bad during combat.
The military is usually a very strict place and soldiers have to act accordingly but not everyone can do that.

The lacks atmosphere onboard the Harikaze an their battle performance goes along with the idea, the worst soldiers make the best fighters.
And seeing as the just defeated the honour students it proves that point.

I quite enjoyed this episode and the fighting against the Hiei was actually quite clever but at the end when they were all celebrating, I was just thinking about how they still need to send cats over to the ship to kill the evil mice so weren't they celebrating a bit too early.

Also I'm glad that the the mice had a decent explanation for why everyone turns a bit crazy when the mice are aboard

I was afraid this ep wouldn't have fanservice because of the great action but boy was I wrong!

A great comeback ep after couple of not so great ones. It was totally enjoyable with the marine battles and the thrilling atmosphere.

Akeno is really a clever girl and her being captain really shows how far they have come with that experience.

The rat situation improved a lot but I was a little disappointed that it was just a accidental outbreak and no evil conspiracy was in place, but I guess we couldn't really expect that as it was not really hinted from the start.

Hahaha I love this show so much. Great action, great girls, what more can you ask for?!

I like how Akeno gathered everyone together and got their opinions, felt like the whole crew has trust in her now as a captain. I wonder how this whole infection plot will be resolved. Sad that there's only 4 more episodes left. :( I don't know how I'll live without new episodes every Saturday.

The girl that always wants to shoot guns and fire torpedos is so cute.

Amazing ep, I liked the teamwork and it was fun seeing Shiro and Misaki's interactions.
I was also a big fan of Rin and Misaki's interactions as well.

Oh yes, I ship this so hard~
The minor yuri vibes are perfect for me

Misaki x Shiro for the win~ (Ofc Rin x Misaki is cute too)

Kuro was conflicted twice this episode.
The first time was when she had to help Misaki for Shiro-chan, and the second was when she was simultaneously jealous of Shiro's sister for getting that butt grope but also wanting to do it herself xD

Overall great ep and I can't wait for next week~

HORA HORA! KONJOU DA! KOUJOU KOUJOU! MO...ICHOU KOUNJOU!!! ~~~

"They will shoot us full of holes by the time they're in our firing range"
can't agrue with that. talking about Kongou-class battleship; Hiei here. ship like Harekaze would be hard to fight it. but LOL i thought it was Kongou itself. if it's Kongou itself, it would be more harder for them to fight it.

the fight was intense and enjoyable to watch. i like it especially at how they fight Hiei. i think it's pretty smart. so the plan was to drop the cat into Hiei to catch the rat. what a simple plan seriously xD

the ending made me say "WTF" LOL. she suddenly appeared and grabbed her ass ? wtf is going on ? xD looking foward for that and looking foward for the next episode XD

So, the RATts don't function if the ship they're on is immobilized? Or there's a more logical explanation for them to not engage the Harekaze at that point

Man. Mike really shined this episode coming up with a plan like that (with the help of Kouko's real time charts naturally) all on her own and predicting so far ahead. Even Shiro was surprised. After just two episodes she's well on her way to becoming a dependable captain.

Battle was awesome. One of the best so far.

I'm glad the knowledge of these rats reached Munetani's mom. I figured it had something to do with scientists. Have to agree with what someone above said though...I'm disappointed it was all accidental and not a conspiracy.

Whole episode was great until Kuro had to be Kuro. If it had been Shiro's plan she wouldn't have doubted it for a millisecond no matter how dangerous it was. Her fangirling is getting stupid at this point and I wish she'd just get transferred to another ship.

GUTS INFUSION! Mafuyu best girl. I hope she appears at least one or two more times.

Virus...experiments gone wrong.....those are the root causes.

This would be much interesting and thought-provoking if it was caused by some traitor inside rather than rats with virus.

Oh well.....I watch this for the characters anyway....Mashiro's older sister which was together with the principal needs to appear more often

Good that they explained the RAT info... But feels kind of just so simple and convenient. I was hoping for a conspiracy like the others, gives the central plot more meat.
The cause makes sufficient sense but feels forced in to for these battles. GuP's central plot wasn't that good either TBH as it's your typical tournament style format but it never tried to make it seem more than what it actually was.
Well I don't mind, the plot mystery at the start really made me like it. Just a bit of a let down.
Also I thought there would be a mutiny but guess that is not going to happen with the latest developments...
Everyone became friends. Akeno got some development which is great! However I feel kind of disappointed it didn't turn in to a dramatic mutiny.

I guess the anime is still a moe series deep down. No conspiracy and mutiny.

Also, to me this is the only battle that I can see happening with real success.
While the timing was so coincidental that they were probably lucky that they encountered Hiei at around the same time the tidal waters were going to change...
It still makes more sense that the previous engagements.

First battle:
With modern electronics and capabilities of the 57mm bofors, Independence-class would of made short work of Harekaze before it can reach to ranges where launching an effective torpedo attack was possible.
I know IJN tactics plan on using them much longer range, but they also planned on having A LOT of them. For independent torpedo attack, it shouldn't be much different than US which is around 6k yards, or 5.4km. That's because torpedoes are slow and it is impossible to predict the target's path for such a long time making leading impossible.

Second battle:
Harekaze can actually indeed have a high chance of winning this fight. It is much more maneuverable and likely can dodge shells long enough for her 5" to pound on the "Admiral spee" until it sinks. Deutschland class only have light cruiser level armor anyways. While it takes sometime, it is definitely plausible. However they chose to close in to 3km so they can hit the screws of the ship.
At such range, it's impossible to miss or dodge shells given the range. Harekaze would of gotten sunk IRL if trying to pull a maneuver like that.

3rd battle:
Honestly, I can't see how it is remotely likely for the wire to tangle the propellers. They can't see where the paravane is going which would make it hard to control. So even if it did bump on to the submarine, it doesn't mean that it is in a position where it can tangle. Furthermore, the propeller should spin fast enough to knock it away before tangling. The shaft has no protrusion so you got nothing to jam.
Assuming it does, I doubt the propeller would stop. What will be more likely to give way? The shaft, electric-diesel engine, the wire, or the winch?
I would say the wire. So if it does jam, the propeller would spin so fast that it snaps the wire and does nothing.

Regardless I love this series, but I just want to get that off my chest.

I'm not a ship expert but it seems you forgot that the rats stops electronics from working properly.
mei mentioned that the enemy could have already sunk them with their specs but didn't thus she thinks its just punishment for being late. Later on Shiro says their not attacking them seriously as their rate of fire and speed are slow . Next ep they wonder how they managed to sink her, they thought they just slowed it down. So they at least mentioned the problems with that battle, maybe it'll be resolved later and furushou is just pretending to be infected, maybe not.
Same with the 2nd battle, enemy electronics not working properly, thus they missed.

That was entertaining. Liked the battle tho wanted it to get more intense than just luring them in to the low tide. Glad to see some progress on the rats case as well but not being a conspiracy is a let down really.

Instead of those filler episodes, they could have resolved Musashi and other ships situation and proceed to neutralize the final boss in these last 3 or 4 episodes. That way it'd have been awesome thro & thro. But they offer a proper explanation about the rats and didn't mess it up so I'll give credit of that to the anime team at least.

More the outcome of the experiment doesn't seem very righteous to me and with 4 episodes left I would not rule out the possibility of an end villain yet.

Aaaahhhh the cat is cute. And an explanation was finally given for the rats, so great progress has been made regarding that, which is pretty nice.

The stakes have been raised even higher this time around, and this still surprises me. The awkwardness between the crew has died down so that's also a plus. The whole "guts infusion" thing just seemed weird too me, though I did laugh a bit when the captain apologized at the end.

Otherwise good episode, a fight and explanations about rats, these movie quotes are still here and hella funny :D

Do we have an idea of the amount of episodes now ?
I'm not sure where only 4-5 more episodes ( basic 12/13 episode format ) could bring us tbh...

So, we got a better idea about Minami Kaburagi the ship's medical officer: she's a genius who skipped several grades in school (and apparently graduated medical school), and was on the ship to get her sea training done.
I've heard of black sheep in a family, but Mafuyu certainly takes the cake on that one... or maybe she's the pirate of the family. And, the look Isoruku gives the girls at 10:04 is so funny: O.K., help your admiral out of the tube please!! :)
