Yes.

Some enthusiastic fan of "Sakura Trick" (January 2014) edited together all of the
kissing scenes from the entire 12-episode series into a single 10-minute video:

Quite petty of me but I dropped this. Can't bear (s'cuse the pun) to hear that "kuma shock" shit one more time. Something about it just gets under my skin. Find the show to be just plain silly in all honesty. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take itself seriously but it does. Too cheesy....

It's somewhat amusing to see people who have no experience with Ikuhara's work react to this, I must admit.

Most likely already commented on previous pages, but even still, at this rate, everyone will turn out to be bears except for Kureha.

UBW is basically a route about three tsunderes constantly bashing their heads against one another.

Not many people understand it, and most of them didn't bother trying to. TBH I can see it not being everyone's cup of tea. It's definitely in the love it or hate it territory.

think about it in two ways:
1) trying to bound love with logic fails miserably (at least so far)
2) bears judging other bears against humans using bears law - same as homophobes judging other homophobes against gays using homophobes law - same as gays judging other gays against homophobes using gays law - same as Party A judging Party A against Party B using Party A law - who do you think will win? :)

I have no idea what's happening, I enjoyed it but it is equally frustrating as well..

The yuri scenes do nothing for me and while I love recurring motifs to have you piece together the story, recurring footage not so much, if you are showing something again and again it better be amazing, like MPD's transformation scene, and even then it's questionable. I can't shake the feeling of budget restrictions; an introductory scene, OP, essentially animationless ED and reused footage...all this can easily account for 20% of the episodes runtime.

In my opinion some of this time could be dedicated to building Kureha's character, because with just 12 episodes and some crazy Ikuni plot coming at us, you really don't have much time to waste.

Also the court scene seemed entirely out of place with Ginko and Lulu, shouldn't bunny-teeth girl be pleading her case? I am awaiting a decent explanation sometime downstream...

I wont lie, I am always eagerly awaiting for the next episode, and I will wait and see before passing judgement, though these first two episodes haven't convinced me, even if they are interesting...

Yeah I knew by the third time that cropped up along with the whole bear grinding teeth noise that that was going to be Ikuhara's annoying as fuck reccuring motif of the series. The guy really seems to think he's just the most clever person in the world with his direction choices but like Shinbo a lot of it is in reality just kind of intrusive and an annoying distraction and as you say incredibly cheesy.

Aso I didn't get, why Kureha was fighting with the rabbit-teeth girl, but was "eaten" by the same two bears as in the previous episode. And I don't understand, why she can be eaten for the second time.
Kureha has not been eaten even once yet. The trial takes place in her head while she is attacked by the bears.

Er, isn't it too early for her to fall so low as to have bear-trials in her head?
Anyway, it's strange to see one person to be judged and eaten twice. Also why is she fighting with one person, but licked by other two? They were not even present in the location, and she had her chance to commit a "sin" with them earlier. Other than the reuse of the scenes it doesn't make sense in the situation.

Though in cases of heavy metaphors I usually follow the variant of rule of cool. If it's interesting to watch, I can bother with analysis, if not, I won't waste my time. And in my eyes Yuri Kuma Arashi is perilously close to the second cathegory: too much footage repeated, poor charcterisation, too much nonsense, lack of integrity.

Because 2 episodes in, people have to rate it based on what we've seen. And what we've seen is a mess that makes no sense whatsoever, with no characters developed enough to make us care about them, meh music, pretentious artsy visuals spoiled by too much reuse, and the potential to coalesce into something awesome. You can't rate a show for potential… so shows like this are fated to start low and (if they deliver on their promise) increase over time.

(Goes look at the current rating in the show page) Eh, in fact it's quite a bit higher than I'd expect already.

So I'm guessing Lulu and Ginko are the "good bears" in that they are content to coexist with humans by licking their honey and coming back for more, while the "bad bears" eat the meat along with the honey.

IMO he actually makes pretty good arguments, while the defense only says some nonsense platitudes. That the judge keeps deciding in his favor is only because of how biased that court is.

The first episode, it looked good, already this second episode puzzles me, if I were to advise someone, I'd say no.
Beautiful designs and colors, but the narrative and plot are too confusing.
Shabadabu!
But even with the great chaos, I realized that Yurizono is the author of the death of Sumika and is a bear, too.
But I do not understand why a show personaggo again and then let it die a second later, just as I do not understand the use of the court.
Cool!
Oh well, we will pull due consideration at the end of the TV series.

Alright, for the ppl that are s confused maybe you would benefit from watching the show in a way where you pick up on the abundant symbolism that Ikuhara always incorporates into his series. Know that there is going to be repetition, symbolism, as well tragedy. This is how Ikuhara grabs your attention and gets you hooked and why his anime can be described as art. Although this series is doing a lot of what typical anime does, throwing in more ecchi than his other works the underlying messages of greed are present. A lot of series have done this concept of mankind/creatures that resemble mankind murdering mankind. (AoT, Terraformas, HxH, the list could go on and on) However, Ikuhara is doing it in an envirmoent which anime fans adore, HIGHSCHOOL and with adorable girls! The show was created for entertainment but also to provide an underlying message. This is what I have found loving about other series of this fabulous director's. I.e. Utena & Penguindrum. It's crazy how much happens in each episode and although I didn't find this one t hold up as much as the first I have a feeling that the series as a whole will. Give it time and a wild plot will unfold not everything in a great anime should happen with in the first 40 minutes of content. If that's the kind of series you're looking for there are plenty of them out there. I feel as if 12 episodes won't be enough for this show but I'm anticipating every minute of them. Viva Yay!

Gonna throw this idea out there because it's bugging me.

Is it possible that the two bears that ate Sumika WEREN'T Ginko and Lulu? I might be remembering wrong, but they weren't really clearly shown in that scene, right? Not only that, but in this episode, we're shown that there are other bears lurking about, and one of them happens to be Mitsuko. Mitsuko also appears in the opening (though her face isn't shown) pouring honey onto Kureha along with another person who can only be their teacher. Perhaps the teacher is a bear too, and she and Mitsuko were responsible for eating Sumika (Mitsuko even admits to doing it at the end of this episode). So, Xerain's idea seems entirely plausible to me.

This episode has more or less convinced me to hold onto this show. I'm WAY too curious about where it's going to go. I'm also too addicted to the OP to stop watching, I think.

So is this the same imagery of "being inside the shell" that was in utena (egg) and penguindrum (box)

I wonder if this will have a student council (like the Kiga group in penguindrum who wanted to break the world which I believe was akin to).

The duel at the rooftop also reminds a lot of the Utena episodic fights, more episodic duels expected.

To be fair, the beginning episodes of Penguindrum were super confusing as well so I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a lot more coherent than it seems. Also, anyone with "Yuri" in their name is probably a bear.
