Hey guys! Welcome to MAL Claim an Anime Character, the very first and by far the LARGEST claiming thread on MAL with over 650 banners made! That's hard to compete with, eh ;D? We've been filling claims since February 11, 2008, and we plan to keep going!

So basically here's how it works... if you're head over heals for a certain character, post on this thread and claim them! Everyone can claim an anime character for themselves~ You get a nifty banner such as the one below saying which anime character you claimed

HOWEVER...there are a few Rules to follow before you go off and claim your character~


Rules before claiming a character

1. You'll need 100 forum posts or more to request a claim
   
2. You can only claim one anime character.
   
3. You can NOT claim a character that has already been claimed.
   
4. You're free to claim whoever you want: be it girl, guy, thing, or transexual
   
5. First come, first go. Make sure you look through the claimed list AND the thread before claiming a character
   
6. If you wish to make your own banner, PLEASE say so in your post. Make it CRYSTAL clear, and then PM melancholy with your banner. If you do NOT PM the banner to melancholy, your claim will NOT be added to the list.
   
7. When claiming a character, please follow this format:
   Character's name: last name, first name
   Anime/Manga:
   Character's MAL page: (optional)
   Banner: yes please~ / i will make my own / i don't want a banner
   Image of character: (optional, but please use spoiler tags)
   
   
8. Please don't expect your banner to be done right away. The amount of time that it takes for your banner to be done can range from 1 day to 1 month. It all depends on who is assigned to do your claim. Please be more considerate and patient because we get a LOT of claim requests if you haven't already noticed...If you ask when your banner will be done, your claim request will be ignored I am SICK of getting messages of when banners will be done.

Rules after claiming a character

1. When you receive your banner, we REQUIRE you to place it on your profile or signature. Failure to do so will have your claim taken off the list. This is to see who is really serious about their claims.
   
2. REMEMBER. When putting your banner in your signature, please please PLEASE be aware of MAL's signature limit rule! If you're gonna put the banner in your signature, you'll probably have to get rid of your current MAL signature.
   
3. If you want to switch, drop or trade characters please reply to this thread. do not pm melancholy.
   
4. If you changed your username, PLEASE pm melancholy immediately after you change your username so we can make changes to the list. If we get a "Failed to find the specified user, please try again." message when doing our banner checks, we'll remove you from the list. It'll be your own loss for not reading the rules >_>
   

If you want to help out in anyway, check out The Official MAL Claim an Anime Character Club!
We defiantly need people to help make banners, preform checks to see if users have their banners up, and keep records of all the claims.
I assign certain members to do certain pages so your claim request may be fufillled faster or slower than others. It all depends on who's doing the page. if you're interested in who's doing what page, here is a list

1 question: When you get your banner do you have to link it to thread version 1 or version 2 or does it not matter??
