Didn't really like this episode...the declaration of war was cool and all.
But it felt really underwealming next to the idiocy of Koh taking an unusable suit instead of the GM

Hey there, Bask cameo.

Hmm, did I say this series didn't have emotionally unstable teenagers? Well I take that back.

Haha! yeah. Really the bullshit he pulled would have ether sent him to prison for some good years or demoted him in swiping floors for the next of his military career if the world of Gundam was a little more realistic in it's military rules.
He just took one of the most expensive pieces of equipment and destroyed did just because he wanted to boost his ego.

I realized how Nina is older than Kou. I hope they can make a good couple.

Kou was really reckless, and reminded me of Amuro and the other UC pilots. And yeah, if the Gundam's world would be a little more realistic, he would never pilot a Mobile Suit again. Why didn't he launch on the GM!

BTW, Nice declaration of War!

Another godawful stupid stunt of most protagonist show do in this episode. Hope he redeems himself.

At the moment, the most interesting character is only Gato.

Kou is such an idiot I can't help but laugh. I think I'm enjoying this for all the wrong reasons. That was some nice old school shower fan service though.

Kou was so stupid this episode he should have taken out the GM instead, but nope he didn't and got his ass kicked.

That Zeon chick (Shima/Cima?) is hot.

Kou doesn't bother me as much, hell atleast he isn't punching or insulting someone every 5 seconds like Kamille did. Besides do we REALLY need another hax child prodigy for a pilot? It's nice to see an MC in the Gundam universe that loses now and then.
Nina on the other hand was poorly handled. I understood their intentions but the way they executed it reminded me of the forced drama found in Zeta Gundam.

Amazing episode!

Definitely the best episode so far!!! At first it was weird seeing them on space already, but it's better to skip it and go straight at it instead of showing them getting there wand wasting an episode.

While it was nice to see Kou and Nina develop a close relationship, she's still wary of him using the Gundam. I'm guess it is her pride after all and shouldn't be using it like an experimental toy.

I love the character development. Just this one episode already showed so much emotion compared to some shows nowadays.

Though i think Kou shouldn't have not forced his data too much on Nina and actually listened to her for once.

Of course it wouldn't be a Gundam show without shower scene :P

Still wish it was full body like the older Gundams!

Cima looks like one of those pimp who would slave everyone under her command.

Bask Oum made an appearance!! Shame he didn't prove that much in Zeta.

And yes it's nice to see Kou lose. It just shows he's just a normal a pilot who has good skill and not prodigy or a Newtype that can pull the impossible everytime(We already have Amuro, Kamille, Judau).

And yeah Nina's crying kinda felt like an over reaction, especially the way she holds her face with her hands like she's screaming in horror.

It'll be awhile till they fix the relationship.

Definitely need more of this!! Can't wait for the next episode!

Damn I was hoping monsha would die this ep. If he wouldve gracefully accepted Kou as the pilot after he lost he couldve kept some dignity and been a funny comic relief character. Instead hes just annoying af.

That was a pretty dramatic episode. Looks like Kou just rushed into taking the Gundam out before it was ready and got fucked up as a result. But you could look at it this way : If Kou went out in a regular mobile suit combined with his lack of space combat experience and encountering that woman Zeon commander he would likely have died. It seems the gundams heavy armoring saved him .

The Zeon Admiral had a pretty decent point though, even after the peace treaty at the end of the 1 year war the Federation seemed to be still developing Gundams and even one with nukes on it.

Man Nina went from being angry as hell at uraki to all over him near the end of the episode. But then again he seems to have gotten really injured.

I'm wondering if we'll get some solid links between 0079 and Zeta in this anime

I know Uraki's a boy and certainly easy to impress for a beautiful successful and intelligent (as in studies) young woman but can someone explain me how between 2 episodes the woman has taken such a liking in the ensign? o_o I thought at first he was losing his time with such a person but looks like they have some common things (being very dumb is the main one). He is a qualified soldier and he can't even accept the fact a MS must be first adjusted before space flights? Only to show how good in physics or maths he was -_- I expect someone to discipline him strongly next time, he basically sent the prototype to garbage.(Amuro broke "his" model in an actual fight at least)

When I saw Nina the first time, I immediately knew she would have a bath scene... well, she got it. It still feels as out-of-place as in previous installments. From now on, I suppose this will be a mandatory ingredient of every U.C. Gundam.

The Zeon soldiers welcome another 0083 uninteresting high grade in their ranks... I miss the memorable ones from 0079. At least this Cima was really well designed. (reminded me a bit of Lodoss) But an obnoxious woman and a terribly fanatic ace pilot are disappointing. Maybe the highest one will save the day, his speech was good enough.
Is the Federation still recovering from the 1YW? Because I find it unbelievable that Zeon ships can roam in the space like this. + they have to land sometime to replenish food/fuel ?? Or are there still some colonies who find the old Zeon sympathetic and secretly resupply them?

She seemed so childish... And her Kô felt like a toy in her hands.

5/5 sadly, the outside magic still operates on me...

I honestly can't tell if I disliked the episode because it was all over the place, or if I just didn't pay enough attention and am now really confused. Either way, Nina was acting so weird. First she was suddenly flirty, then she like straightened herself out for a while and became unreasonably cold, then she went back to caring about Kou as though their relationship is more than just colleagues. I don't remember them getting to space either, but I was tired af when watchting the previous ep, so maybe I just missed it. I'm a bit worried where this is going, because the premise is interesting, and the former episodes were really good, but this ep really threw me for a loop, and not in a good way. Hope the remaining ep's are better.

This episode singlehandedly changed my entire opinion of this show from "amazing" to "decent".

...but I loved it anyways, which is why my current rating stands at "Above Average (but definitely not Amazing)"

Kou and Nina both had amazingly adorable and horrifically stupid moments this episode. Kou's 'married couple'-esque banter with Nina was the highlight of the former, and then the rest of the episode (Nina being indesicive over loving Kou, Gundam, or Monsha). Seriously... I didn't even have a problem with the Gundam-love bit, it's amusing and Setsuna F. Seiei did the same thing. But really, if anyone was 'playing around' this episode it'd be Nina. She toyed with Bernard and Kou like pawns on a checker board, moving from Playful to angry to sad to thoughtful to tearful just for the sake of others' opinions and reactions.

Not that Kou didn't have his share of stupidity too, the whole "I WILL BE A GUNDAM (PILOT)" phase that just about every single Gundam lead seems to go through. The only exceptions to that rule seem to be Bannagher and Mikazuki, but that's because neither of them really cares one way or the other.

But again. We got to see Monsha actually proving his worth, Gato acting like a lovestruck schoolgirl in front of his (senpai) Admiral, and again, Kou and Nina acting like an old married couple.
Next episode looks to be another painful one, with Kou wandering for a while before regaining his GUNDAM PILOT SPIRIT! But I have faith that the show will pick up after dealing this, so I'll keep watching.

Even if these two episodes could have been avoided if Nina just gave Kou the balancer codes in the first few minutes.

But in Gundam, I presume, in the time of lunch break, instead of eating are always arguing? It always happens an emergency, then? Seriously, good directing. Narrative compelling and well-scripted, knowing what would happen, through previous episode promos, the vision was pleasant and engaging. Drawings, animations and OST, very good.
It is seen, during the episode, even the ugly face of the bastard, the Bask Om.

Very sudden playful attitude from Nina towards Kou. I almost felt like she breached my personal space.

"Three against five, Keith doesn't count" - that's harsh truth haha.

Bask Om made a cameo at Jaburo.

I was ready for the Zeon soldiers to repeat that "Sieg Zeon" at the end.

Cima almost looks like a cartoonishly evil person. Well, that's probably just who she is.

Also laughed a lot at character interactions during the episode, both at the right (lunch) and wrong (forced drama) moments. Kou and Nina are both so...sigh.

Bask cameo. The drama is still terrible but they need something to advance the plot.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. I wasn't a fan of this episode. Kou acted like an idiot, Mr Mustache was annoying once again, and I was extremely confused by everything going on.

I guess I liked Cima?

Also we're almost halfway through and the plot has barely moved. What has happened? Gato stole a Gundam, there were a few battles, mustache arrives, and Kou breaks the other Gundam. At this rate, I worry that the Titans forming is going to feel a bit rushed.

Did someone fuck up the order of scenes when making this episode? Because I feel like Nina's out-of-nowhere reprimand of Kou only makes sense if it comes after he goes out against Cima Fleet in the Gundam and gets it heavily damaged; before that point, I've not seen him say or do anything that would denote him as arrogant, especially when Moustache Twat is still around being a twat (please tell me he dies later). I also feel like they cut to them being in space in a really awkward and kind of jarring way, so much so that I thought I'd missed an episode.

Well, I guess this is the start of the obligatory unnecessary Gundam romance subplot that every Gundam anime must have for some reason.

So far, I'd say Stardust Memory is kind of one of the weaker older UC OVAs. Not to say it is completely terrible, but there's just way too much focus on all of the relationships and it takes a lot for anything to get moving. I'd think it would be better if the entirety focused more on the relations between the dynamics of Zeon remnant groups and politics shortly after the One Year War.

Oh wow, look at that, the very first time a Zeonite made a good point. The nuclear Gundam is incredibly shady and hard to defend. But sadly, considering the Zeons used nukes twice themselves and dropped a colony, it rings completely hollow.

Wow, only took one ep for me to go from liking and sympathizing with Nina to absolutely hating her. Obviously Kou is a dumbass for going out in an unusable suit, but he wouldn't have even considered it if Nina hadn't mocked and absolutely put him down for no reason. They're clearly building up a relationship between the two of them, and their dynamic was cute at the start of this episode, so why does she suddenly start telling him to his face that she doesn't trust and doesn't like him just because her friend jokingly teased her in private about liking Kou? The plot and characters of this show have been basic so far, but the execution has been great, so I've been able to excuse it and enjoy it anyway. When characters with no writing also start acting like idiots for no reason? Now that weighs the show down. This feels like trying to emulate the erratic nature of Tomino's characters without actually having any of his writing skill. Hope that stupid tsundere bitch dies, and Kou can bite it too. There's no reason for me to care about any of these characters.
