That was damn terrible. Cliche, cliche, cliche for 19 minutes. Only songs and 3 first minutes were awesome.

Giving it 2 more episodes before dropping.

When people said this anime was exactly like Code Geass, they weren't kidding. I think I'm going to love this! Shu might not be as tactical as Lelouch, but I'm sure he has potential! Onto the next ep!

Wow, I don't remember Code Geass looking this good!

Seriously though, this is gorgeous and has a promising start. I've heard lots of...mixed opinions about this so all I could do at this point was jump on in and see it for myself.

First impressions, art, music, and overall production quality was A1. However, timid main character randomly gets a crazy power that he is able to control 100% from a strange female character on day one is meh. At this point I really hope this isn't going to be some terrible Code Geass ripoff, but we shall see. A lot of action without any meaning in this episode.

Don't know if I'm making a huge mistake by watching this after Code Geass but fuck it.

I love how people are supposedly meeting our MC for the first time and they already have his personality all figured out lol
And speaking about Shu, I have nothing positive to say about him at the moment.
Indecisive MC + voiced by Yuki fucking Kaji?? You're just begging me to hate the kid at this point.

Gai seems like a badass but I have a feeling I'm going to hate the guy in the long run lol.

So far this was ok, I just hope it doesn't go to shit like many have stated before. It probably will
The music and animation is on point though, as expected from Sawano/Production I.G

I don't understand why he's so obsessed with helping out this girl he barely knows who was caught for being a terrorist. Doesn't that make him a bad guy? I don't get what's going on, but not impressed with this first episode.

My first impression: Edgy Discount Code Geass

There was a lot of plot holes I found in this episode alone, and it pretty much started the same way as Code Geass but in a much more boring and fanservice-esque way. (the hot chick saying 'use me!')
Animation was decent but I might as well keep watching until at least the third episode so I can get a grasp.

why i hate this episode.

1.The MC goal life was pointless.
change the world?save people form virus or goverment?.it pointless because he don't know how to acomplish his goal life...what a joke

2.meet a rebel army
first meet then help rebel army without notice what rebel army are...

why i like this episode.

MC that's a scaredy patns gets super powers to rescue "his" girl, or childhood friend judging from the short flashbacks.
Gai fighting was cool.

Definitely not unique judging from the first episode but who knows, it might surprise me.

One episode in and I'm already having serious Code Geass flashbacks. What, with the big humanoid robot suits, and the schoolboy main character who doubts the government and is granted a strange power by a mysterious hot girl, in the process gaining some memories that are not his(going by his confused "What was that?"), and is consequently pulled into a rebellion.

Restarting this after a couple of years. Kinda of a whatever first episode. On a superficial level it's incredible but it doesn't seem very promising writing-wise. Character dynamics don't really make any sense, it just sort of awkwardly bridges the plot together with loose foundations. The word is pretty overused right now, but Shu is quite literally the definition of a simp, I already know I'm going to loathe this retard. I spit out my water in laughter when they made him seem like some 'badass'.

I don't really see why Shuu decides to help the Undertakers, especially after Inori gets "arrested". He met her five minutes earlier and for all he knows she is part of a criminal terrorist organisation, yet he decides to take the robot and bring it to some shady part of town, because it told him to? Same when he's told to go save her, what reason does he have to do so? He doesn't know anyone in the group, he doesn't even know what they do, so why should he feel the need to help them? What if they actually were a terrorist organisation?

Might seem nitpicky, but I always find it annoying when unintuitive stuff like this happens without explanation

So, despite Guilty Crown being a very popular anime, interestingly enough, I had (unintentionally yet sucessfully) managed to avoid It Altogether until I recently picked it up. Although I had of course heard of It, I have started watching with no idea how This is going to turn out storywise.

In any Case, I do have to say, that - to me - This was One of the best First episodes I have ever seen. The Art was breathtaking, The Music was very good, The story was intriguing - and most of all, I thought the MC was actually behaving pretty realistically. (The opposite Tends to Make me dislike a Show pretty quickly, so that was a huge plus for me.) While It does seem to incorporate certain cliches, so nothing that hasn't been done before, to me, The Execution of the episode was remarkable.

So, I'll be Happy to Tag along for the Ride Now.

I dunno why all the praise for this first episode, it felt like your average episode for this kind of show, the music is promising but outside that, it was watchable, but nothing more, the MC was a bit cringy but at the same time he didn't leave the worst of the impressions.

Won't expect much, other than there are better episodes than this one, everything happening at once, dunno wtf is going on, hope next episode makes more sense.

The only appeals I see right now are the songs and the pink-haired girl, she is cute enough.

Looks good and sounds good but that's about it from this episode. Pretty cringe fanservice and stupid lines like "use me" as he's getting ready to take a weapon out of her chest. Other bad dialogue like "you abandoned her" like bruh I literally just met this girl earlier today and some fucking armed goons came and took her away. Feels pretty cliche and the writing feels kinda weak. See where it goes anyway.

Inori: *gets brutally knocked to the ground by gun butt blow to her abdomen"

Shu: "please help her, she's injured!"

I don't think they're here to help her bud

Anyway, this is an anime I dropped after a few episodes probably almost two years ago now, and am giving it another chance. Despite not having watched that many anime at the time, I could still see how it felt terribly generic. But perhaps I was being too ignorant again. This time I will follow through and finish it, and give it all 22 episodes to tell its story.

Dang, I don't remember this Gai character having such a badass introduction

And that girl with him, is that ERIS??! *edit*: Ah so it isn't Eris, she is Nino though

I do appreciate the immediate character development even in this first episode. Shu gets a second chance to save Inori, and this time he takes it. And in doing so, he accidentally gains tremendous power. Whether that was meant for Gai or someone else, or just not meant to be used at all, you can at least say that the dude deserved it. I like how even though he is a bit shocked at first like how anyone would be, he fully commits within a few seconds and absolutely folds a mecha.

Surprised to say that that scene actually gave me some slight chills; perhaps it's thanks to the soundtrack that kind of slaps. I'm usually easily moved by a good soundtrack; what was I thinking when dropping this back then.

While the art style is nothing special at all, the animation is indeed quite solid as expected of Production IG. We've already seen some vague mysterious flashbacks, and I'm excited to see how this narrative plays out, and I hope it is executed in a fair enough manner. Here's hoping that I enjoy something I thought before would've been a chore to sit through!

Japan's quasi-independent with areas renamed with numbers. Female lead makes a pact with the male lead that grants him a special power and imprints a mark onto his body. Crafty Ōkouchi.

While the leader of the resistance is a Char Clone (blonde and same Seiyuu as Graham Aker), he isn't the protagonist.

All the stylistic elements in there got points. The boy feels like a coward for not saving the girl, and has to finish her mission. A cool boy saves him but then orders him to save the girl despite his incompetence. He unlocks a power that he knows how to use immediately. And the girl also happens to be a childhood friend. After they "interrogate" the girl "Get rid of her, but only after we kill other people, we want to leave enough time for something to go wrong." I'm only giving this series a chance because of the production value while the story just feels nothing rewarding though I don't really mind how cliche it is.
