| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Not bad but I felt like being dropped in the middle of the story this episode. Right from start, there's action, blood, mecha, BETA, etc. The narrative is short but captured the point of the premise. As for the characters...they introduced quite a bunch of them, more than I had expected. The bloodbath is here~  Katia is cute but I hope we find out more about her. |

| Better than I expected, but the pacing. Let's just hope that that doesn't turn out to be an issue. The OST sounds pretty neat though, and I'm happy with everything so far. |

| Better than Total Eclipse/10. Not that I'm saying much with that statement, but whatever. I'm glad they kept the expository monologue about the BETA to the bare minimum, I expect most people watching this are already Muv Luv veterans anyways. Also, I wasn't expecting it to go that heavy into the East/West German political divide, but I can dig it, I guess. |

| Well at least it started out better than TE did, but unsurprisingly this probably isn't intended to be watched for anyone that hasn't played the Muv-Luv trilogy first. It may be a standalone story with different characters, a different country and taking place 16 years earlier, but the universe is still the same. So you kind of just get dumped right into the middle of the action without much explanation if you're unfamiliar with the setting And as always, for everyone that have in fact played through ML before... the same old issue will probably ensue, namely that all of the spinoffs have a tentency of being rather disappointing compared to the real deal. But I won't give up on it right away at least |

| Interesting first episode, always enjoyed war time shows and it's based in modern history which is nice. I did think the animation was off at times, especially with that slap. Katia Waldheim waifu potential-10/10. |

The first episodes dosént hold your hand if you don´t really know the world they are in. They may explain more in a later episode. But for the moment it seams it for the Muv-luv fans |

| Solid start though the MC seems a bit of a jerk. I think there will be allot of politics mixed in with the mecha action. |
| don't really know much about muv-luv but didn't really feel lost. obviously a bit of supsension of disbelief due to the mix of a historical setting of 1983 with mechs and aliens thrown in, certainly an intersting mix pretty good so far i guess it is a series where i shouldn't get attached to any character |

| Eh, I'm not sure what I was expecting from a Muv Luv spinoff, but this wasn't too great. I know it's only the first episode, but I can tell it's going to hard to find anyone likable from this cast, but maybe that's for the best. I'm starved for some Muv Luv so I'll keep watching for now in hopes that it'll surprise me. |

| After the questionable pleasure that was Muv Luv, I stubled upon this, not knowing it was the same franchise. One thing that really bugs me is the title. "Schwarzesmarken"? Really? I could've produce a more correct german phrasing using google translator! All other german translations, including names and pronunciations were on point, so why the hell would they mess up something that important?!? The wording they were looking for is probably "Schwarzmarken" = "Black marks"... Next up, there are still way too many traumatised naive little girls piloting oversized mechas here. Was really glad when Eberbach pointed this out as well :P "Insane pilots should stay off the battlefield." - Lt. Eberback, DDR, 1983 |
| I got a bit bored around minute 12/13 so I decided to drop it. Didn't seem interesting enough to make me even continue watching the 1st episode. One of the worse shows this season. Probably mainly hyped because it is set in Germany. I usually don't care about hype and I don't know about the other Muv Luv stuff. Maybe I'll start watching again once the season is finished if it isn't more than 12/13 episodes and the reviews are okay/interesting or some of the people I know with similar taste as me recommend it again. |
| Pretty solid first episode. Those BETA are nasty, they sure didn't tone down the gore. OST was pretty neat, ED too. |

I can't find a single positive about this show. However Muv-Luv's first two episodes were horror before it turned into a weird harem sort of light action/mecha show, so maybe this will evolve from crap to something watchable. |

I still remember the greatness that is VN Muv-luv, if this anime will be even half, no 10% as good as MUV-LUV then it's definitely worth watching. Reaching that 10% will be hard but after seeing the first episode there is a chance for that. We already have people dying on the battlefield so it is Muv-luv all right. Then again, I wonder how would I look at this anime if I weren't VN reader. I would probably drop it the moment I saw mechs... shame on me. |
| Did they explain how they are maintaining their borders after every BETA attack? Not sure if coincidence as we all know that they are spontaneous and their behaviour can't be predicted. As a fan of the visual novels, I'm content with this spin-off. Keeping my fingers crossed for more! |

| Eh, I still enjoyed TE. TE is honestly better than a lot of the mecha joke shows pushed around recently (i.e. Aldnoah Zero, Valvrave, Suisei no Gargantia). This looks promising though. |

| TBH, I am not a fan of mecha, but will watch if it is good. When I watch I thought "well, these monster like creature look like those from Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse" and damn sure enough it is a spin-off...I like Total Eclipse so I think I will like this too. So far so good... Edited: P.S. The girl in this series and Total Eclipse are so bossy and cocky and crazy and insane lol. |

| The pace is a bit fast but I can live with it. But to say the least, this was my most anticipated anime of the season. So far looking so good. I came for some TSF vs Beta action, and goddamn I got what I want. Loved that they showcased the effectiveness of the reactive shield. Also a F-4 Phantom? Yes please. This is a godsend for all Muv Luv Alternative fans |
