If you argue that it does then it would also be logically to call something like Bleach a mahou shoujo anime, considering all the transforming girls (there's not a lot in SnS either, despite being an MC). The Fantasy description says the following: "When searching for High Fantasy stories, excluding lower fantasy themes (e.g. Mythology, Superpower) can help refine your search." I think it should get another Genre/Theme so you can do exactly that. Both Superpower (originally had this Theme) and Mythology (Shinigamis, Hollows) are fitting but Supernatural in general is fitting much better than Fantasy (which is probably also why it was tagged as such previously) so you could also just change it back or it also could be one of the rare Supernatural + Fantasy cases. I assume it was changed to Fantasy because of this part: "If majority of the cast has magical or supernatural powers, then the story is Fantasy. If only a few characters have powers and most of the cast would be in disbelief to discover this, then the story is Supernatural." Not only didn't people know of Ghouls at the beginning of the show, it also has no Fantasy elements aside from some characters being Ghouls. JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (TV) for example has much more Fantasy elements aside from Vampires (Hamon, Pillar Men) but is listed as the more fitting Supernatural. So why isn't Tokyo Ghoul? The anime set place in modern world before teleport into a fantasy like place in England with forelore, fairies and spirits. It's not entirely a fantasy anime. If you disagree with this, consider adding Mythology instead. |
