100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru

Yuusuke Yotsuya has always disliked Tokyo, but he especially hates the people who live in it. He would rather thrive in a virtual world than try to get along with those around him. At the end of one school day, he sees the popular athlete Iu Shindou talking to Kusue Hakozaki, who spends less time in school due to illness. But when he looks away from the two and back again, they have seemingly disappeared.

Mere moments later, Yotsuya enters a state of free-fall, and the world begins to change around him. Dropping into a large pool of water, the first thing he sees when he comes to his senses is an assortment of enormous monsters. He soon finds out that he has been brought into a game world by Shindou and Hakozaki and that he must complete a quest within 14 days.

There is one thing that separates this world from the real world: anyone who dies will be brought back to life in 30 seconds as long as one party member is alive. Tasked with numerous quests that increase in difficulty over time, Yotsuya, Shindou, and Hakozaki attempt to discover the mystery behind the perplexing game world.

It's an ok anime to pass the time.

100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru is a "pseudo-isekai", that suits well when you don't have anything better to watch.

The anime don't bring anything new, but if you enjoy this genre like I do, you can watch it to kill some time. I DO NOT recommend this anime to someone who wants something new or a good/great anime.

The story it's ok, the characters are generic and the animation it's barely an ok.

If you need something to enjoy while you don't have anything better to do, this anime it's a good call.

Mixed Feelings

In summary, this anime sells itself as a standard isekai fantasy, but it’s not that at all, and it’s very likely that many will end up disappointed when they find out it’s actually a psychological fantasy anime.

I almost categorized this anime under "mixed feelings," mainly due to an unexpected plot and narrative twist that hit me like a cold shower. This anime quickly transitioned from being a classic level-up isekai fantasy to a kind of mystery and fantasy story with sci-fi touches. I would even say it has significant psychological elements. It’s not a conventional isekai at all, and while there are cases where this ... kind of twist makes the story a masterpiece, I’m not entirely convinced that’s the case with this anime. Without a doubt, the story and the plot twist are very interesting and worthy of appreciation, but the niche it appeals to is so specific that it’s very obvious many people won’t like it.

I would recommend this anime if:
- You want to watch a fantasy and/or sci-fi story with a captivating plot.
- You like stories where the protagonists undergo very specific and literal character development.
- You enjoy being left with more questions than answers.

I wouldn’t recommend this anime if:
- You prefer more conventional fantasy anime.
- You get overwhelmed by anime that requires a lot of thinking.
- You just want to watch something simple and casual to pass the time.

Estuve a punto de colocar este anime en la categoría de "sentimientos encontrados", principalmente debido a un giro de guion y narrativa que no me esperaba, y que fue como un golpe de agua fría. Este anime transicionó muy rápidamente de ser un clásico de fantasía por niveles e isekai a una especie de historia de misterio y fantasía con toques de ciencia ficción. Incluso me atrevería a decir que tiene grandes elementos del género psicológico. No es para nada un isekai convencional, y aunque hay casos en los que este tipo de giros convierten la historia en una obra maestra, no estoy del todo convencido de que sea el caso de este anime. Sin duda alguna, la historia y el giro de guion son muy interesantes y dignos de apreciarse, pero el nicho al que apela es tan específico que es muy obvio que a muchas personas no les va a gustar.

En resumen, este anime se vende como un isekai estándar de fantasía, pero no es para nada eso, y es muy probable que muchos terminen decepcionados al descubrir que es realmente un anime de fantasía psicológica.

Te recomendaría este anime si:
- Quieres ver una historia de fantasía y/o ciencia ficción con una trama atrapante.
- Te gustan las historias donde los protagonistas tienen desarrollos de personajes muy específicos y literales.
- Te gusta que te dejen con más preguntas que respuestas.

No te recomiendo este anime si:
- Prefieres animes de fantasía más convencionales.
- Te saturan los animes que requieren pensar mucho.
- Solo quieres ver algo sencillo y casual para pasar el rato.

An exceptionally boring anime with essentially zero power progression from start to end. They start out exceptionally weak, and finish being still very weak. From start to end there is maybe like one semi-decent fight. 90% of this show is about teenage girls and their inane highschool troubles (at least 30% of the show is memory flashbacks, no joke). And maybe if the male MC had been decent he could have salvaged something from those useless sidekicks... but no, he is actually the one that's most unlikeable. I am convinced MC is an actual sociopath, even until the last episode of season one he acts ... as if no one else matters to him, and in fact declares this outright towards the very end of the last episode. He is pretty much an asshole constantly for zero reason.

It's not just him though, the girls can be pretty treacherous and unlikeable as well, especially otaku girl who is on MC's level of scummery. I think the writers tried to make the characters look complex, but they just came across as pieces of shit to me.

I'll add that this anime had the very worst season finale I've ever seen. I had to double check it was actually the last episode because it had absolutely zero draw or climax to make you want to watch the next season (just an edgy sociopathic rant from MC which cemented my dislike of him). The overall feeling I got from this show was that it was made for edgy kids and/or young girls, and even that target audience probably wouldn't like it.
