Do you remember your original or just old experience on the Internet? Can you remember what resources you sat on and what your old userpics, captions or posts looked like?

It was something that phased into my life without me really noticing it, like television. I remember my first years were mostly watching random weird ass YouTube videos (mostly Spongebob edits and stuff) with my siblings and playing Mario flash games and Newgrounds games. This was around the same time I discovered 4chan, too lol. 2008-2012 hit different.

The dial-up life, chatting with strangers on AIM some of which I shouldn't have been since they were creeps. Making a Geocities fan website of Dragon Ball Z... the cursor was a gif of goku doing a kamehameha. Downloading viruses on Limewire and playing Neopets, the good old days.

I didn't really use any forums as such, but I used to often keep checks on Wrestling Information Archive & Solie's Title Histories (both Wrestling websites), and buying stuff from Play.com - which was a little like Amazon. We used Yahoo! as the main browser, as Google wasn't a thing yet though.

Before that though I can remember searching up cheats for videogames, and looking at very pixelated pr0n on my mobile phone if I had free WAP data.

I remember some brief internet experience in 1998 on something that was called AOL room chats (or something), which only kept my interest for a couple of weeks and then I ditched using the Internet until the early 2010s.

Also had a brief Internet experience on GameTrailers.com forums (in the mid-2000s) which later that website died in 2016 (if I remember right).

My very first time on the internet I think I was ~3-4. I was playing online Nickelodeon games or something like that with my mom watching me.

Around 6-7, I started to learn more. I still played a lot of flash games like the ones on the Disney Channel site, but I also started to play my first MMO, Toontown Online. I have many fond memories of that game. My mom showed me how to print out pictures and stuff like that and I was thrilled by that, for some reason. She also showed me how to use instant messaging and I thought it was so fun to chat with my aunt who lives in another city. I loved sites such as Kiddonet and GirlSense, too.

Around 8-9 I discovered forums and started to lie about my age to register for things 🥴 I couldn't wait to be 13, I thought that was such a big and mature age lol. I also started to use MySpace and made a profile for my dog.

Even though I was so little, I was an early adopter of YouTube because my aunt told me about it and let me use her account. So I started using YouTube in the first or second year of its existence. A time when you could find full movies on there... I miss the old days of YouTube when it had more of a homemade feel and the videos weren't so highly produced yet. I even uploaded some videos of my own and had fun playing around with editing software. My videos were VERY cringe and most of them are gone now, but in retrospect, I wish I had kept the videos up for the memories (or at least just privated them). Most are lost to time now.

I was also very active on MSN Messenger. I kind of miss that simplicity now. It was just for talking to friends and that's it. I guess Discord is the closest thing we have today, but with a lot more bells and whistles.

Yes, I remember flash games and searching music online. I don’t know how I still remember this but one of the first searches I remember ever making was looking up the song ‘Lonely’ by Akon. I remember being quite proud of myself afterwards xD I was probably about 4, maybe?

When I was 5, I was really obsessed with making emails for some reason. Funnily enough, I still use an email account I made back then, in 2008. I still like looking at the old emails I got/sent at that time - it’s kinda like a time capsule. I also remember reading about a lot of stuff on Wikipedia as well.

I remember playing these "Diego"  and Dora themed games as a kid. Like when I was really young, say around 4-5 I played these games and some toy story game which actually scared the shit out of me. Like you had to flash a light to find something (I think) and at the time I never knew how to play so I would always get jumpsacred by that bald spider thing called babyface. 5 year old me got the biggest spook of his life then lmao.

But as I got a bit older I used youtube a lot. Though I mostly watched things using cds on my tv.

I do, sort off.

It was in late 92 or early 93, and I was told by David to and I'll quote him here. "Adonis" "Come over and sit down" I sat down in front a bulky PC, and I was seeing an early form of chat room? Maybe, I can't remember if it was BBS's, IRC or even a AOL's chat room.

Anyway, it was some monster from Europe or whatever, and he "was my number fan" "he truly enjoyed my work" and he "had all of them" and then he proceeds to name his "favorite ones" then he tells me the name of his favorite "movie" asking me if I remember it, I didn't even recognize it.

I ask him if I was in it? He replies saying that I was the ffuking start in it, and that he was "hurt" "that I didn't remember taking part in such an important movie"

In this creep mind, "it was my best performance" "I truly gave it all, and it showed that I enjoyed myself doing the movie"
I "hurt he's feeling really badly"

I 😂 at him, saying something like, dude I've done 18 or so "movies" and equal amount of "photo albums" and that it was normal to be high as a kite during filming (poppers, x, coke, ragweed). We boys didn't want to remember much of anything.

So it was normal for me not to remember every "movie/album" I was in.

Then this ffuker demands that "I make it up to him" by "having cybersex" with him. I was da ffuk is "cybersex" 😂 fun times, fun times.
Me every time I hear the word "reparations": 🤣🤣🤣

computer monitor so big and heavy if dropped out of the window it would go through the concrete straight to the earths core

the frustrating dial up and relatives randomly pulling cords to make calls and not understanding that it fucked the connection

playing solitaire and eating cheese on crackers

emojis, nudging people and trying to come up with the most ridiculous screen name using alt codes on MSN

playing total annihilation with my feet up on the desk

first home printer didn't feel like it was actually designed to do its job and regularly shit the bed and spat out ruined paper - eventually decided enough was enough and threw it on my neighbours skip

talking with random dutch people on ventrilo whilst playing diablo online, constant background noise and shit quality mics

disc/floppy disk for everything

running villagers into the corner of the map on age of empires and rebuilding the destroyed empire to tilt everyone, complete shithousery

getting tilted on heroes of might and magic because AI pulls up turn 4 with an entire army and u got one troll who gets taken to the prison showers

telling someone on habbo hotel to fuck off without realising it was a helper bot

going into random anonymous chat rooms where even back then everyone was trying to fish nudes from one another, always finding random niche chatrooms where you go in and find 15 men discussing the optimum way to wax your chest

good times, lots of early gaming memories tbh

It was a Starcraft forum, it is dead now.

then it was this

https://forum.wc3.ru/

and this

https://legacy-of-kain.ru/

Some time later also this:

http://overclockers.ru/

Then this

http://www.animecrazy.net/forums/

I used avatars of Illidan, Gordon Freeman, Sasuke, Itachi, Kain, Raziel, High Elf Priest, Wisp, Prince of Persia, Alukard and Assasin from Ragnarok Online.

I have a story from a local forum for our local network which I will not name for privacy.

On one local network and local forum we had DC++ and ftp servers to exchange files to avoid traffic charges.

Once some older people got to our forum started demand some 'respect' to their age or what not. Hirn told them to fuck off and they should have fucked off. However they complained to admins and admins took their side. We quit the forum in protest. Night set up a splinter forum on his PC and we used it for a week or so. Then admins agreed to take our side and segregate adults into separate subsection of the forum. Stuff returned to how it was kind of.

I was a mod on Night's forum.

I think my first experience was using it in a school class.

After that, I could use it at home, but it was not enough because of the limited connection time. When I lived alone, I was very happy to be able to use the Internet as much as I wanted when I could use it in the apartment I lived in.

When I die and go to the next world where anything is possible, one of the first things I'll do is recover my memory of what was (or were) the 1st internet websites I ever visited, because I don't like not clearly remembering that. I know it may be trivial, but I think it's one of those valuable memories you'd want to have.

I was a complete newbie with the internet back then and knew very few websites lol. I do remember using these though:

AOL
AIM
MSN Messenger
Minesweeper
3D Pinball Space Cadet
Solitaire
Limewire
Wikipedia
MySpace
Skype
Yahoo
Cartoon Network website (for playing Flash games)
YouTube (back in the days when Smosh was one of the highest subscribers)

Windows XP was also one of the earliest computers I've used.

As a 7 year old back then, the only sites I cared about were the ones that had games in them, but I was only allowed to play educational CD games at that time. I thought "well, better than nothing," and so I played Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, JumpStart, Reader Rabbit, Reading Blaster, Math Blaster, ClueFinders, & Super Solvers. Those turned out to be surprisingly quite fun for me. I was still able to play Flash games from the Cartoon Network site and a few other sites, but I wasn't permitted to play for longer than a certain amount of time. Sometime in the early to mid 2000s, I had a lot more freedom to play games, and so I played RuneScape and MapleStory with some friends.

As for online forum experience, I never knew how to use forums back then and wasn't interested in them either. My very first forum experience was with Yahoo Answers, but the site got taken down eventually. My post count was around 4,200.

Good ol' memory lane. I just love looking back at these memories lol

I was 12 when I got internet and I was so excited to get to use youtube. I'd just search for "funny babies" or "funny animals" and then laugh.
The only other internet stuff I did was MSN and icq. Chatting with my friends after school was always fun. Like "Hey, you gonna be online later?" - "Sure, after I'm done with my chores!"

... I also remember one particularly confusing time I went to Yu-Gi-Oh online with my friend and we kept losing, and an older opponent we played against asked if we were masochists. Us, being 12, didn't know what that was and asked him, but he said nevermind and to wait until we're a bit older to learn that word.

I can remember it a bit, I remember using AOL 6.0 and a little later Opera web browsers and I would use it to browse random gaming news sites, and when I got into computer programming around that time I would browse and post on DarkBasic, BlitzBasic and Game Maker related forums. Also the SWS2B forum (Simon Wai's Sonic 2 Beta forum) which was focused on researching prototypes of the Sega Mega Drive Sonic games.

This was in the early 2000s on a Pentium 3 Windows 98 PC, which I actually still have today and use it for some older/retro games.
