That's more than understandable, maybe let me know what you think if you get around to it.
It's fine don't worry, I'm kind of too tired to get a lot done as well myself.
Alright so, this is probably going to be the weirdest thing you've heard in a while, but I've admittedly only read the manga versions - I've never actually played the games. Doing that did get me interested in trying the games though, I definitely plan to play at least the first, Chain of Memories, II, and 358/2 Days.
Oh, the point in one's life. Good point. I'm currently playing FF 1 PR, and most anticipated are 6, 7, and 9, in that order. Eventually, I'll reach your favourite to see what the hype's all about (because every FF has hype, apparently, lol).
I've since realized Hourai High isn't a favourite of mine, with it just having a memorable, and likeable aesthetic. And I'll list the 9s, and 8s I've played, because there's not too many. (I'm glad I've been getting into JRPGs for a few years now, though.) 9s: Ys 1 + 2 together, Pokemon Emerald + FireRed. 8s: Chrono Trigger, Terranigma, Suikoden 1, Nier Automata, .hack Infection, White Knight Chronicles. Maybe because I binged IMOQ, I thought MOQ were 7s, but still one of my favourite aesthetics. Also, I did LPs of Terranigma, and Illusion of Gaia, so that was good memories. My favourite games are more a mashup of WRPGs, eurojank, im-sims, doom-likes, survival horror, and platformers. Didn't even realize how diverse they were until looking, but out of my top 15, or so, there's at least 2 in each of those genres.
I like making platformers, because they're turn-your-brain-off game dev usually. Kinda reminds me of webdev in simplicity, but one notch up, probably.
It's super well liked in general, so I'm sure you could find any number of songs of praise for it if that wasn't enough. Definitely a super good game; worth it for singleplayer, and there's a tonne to do in it. And in case you do get around to it, Dissidia 012 to my understanding makes the original obsolete.
More to do yourself eh?
Yeah, I get that. Even a little edginess can make something stand out from the others in a series, or rather, Persona 1, and 2 seem edgy as well, so it's probably a trend towards stereotypical anime tone. Persona 5 might be the best for many, because it's either the first, or only one they've played, or they like the cheery tone more. Atmosphere plays a large part in what people call taste, in my experience, and tone is a large part of atmosphere. And what would you say are your favourite JRPGs? Is Persona 3 one of them?
If you're interested, I'm working on my fourth platformer, and it's almost half-way done. I might get my comedy isekai JRPG to a short few hours after that.
I'm not even surprised that your favorites are the last two episodes. So goooood.
Mine would be: Jupiter Jazz , Pierrot Le Fou, and The Real Folk Blues, Part II. :)
Oof. That is annoying as fck. Why did they do that? Isn't it only 26 episodes or something?
I'm guessing it caught up to the manga at one point, and they had to stall?
Yeah. That's what I've heard before. The OST is top notch. Just didn't realize it was from Yoko Kanno!
How is the original Gundam?
Hmm. Not really a big fan at the moment, since the cast that gets to operate the top secret military base of operations transportation are run by a majority of kids. LOL
Hard not to be in disbelief. XD
but I think Wing is still my fave. Probably biased, though, since it was the first I saw, back when it aired on Toonami, hah. I get what you're saying.
Just a disclaimer. I'm not really verse in the gundam series, so I'm not sure what Wing is. Haha XD
Also, I probably was too little when that aired in Toonami. :P
Turn A Gundam was too bad in your personal opinion?
From the ones I've watched so far, my two favorites so far are: Kidou Senshi Gundam: The Origin, and Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team.
Also, if you're wondering why I'm watching the first Gundam right now, it's because I just wanted to dip my toes a little bit more into the mecha genre.
I don't want to be one of those people that only watches their favorite anime genres. I like to watch jump around different genres because it's refreshing personally speaking.
Yeah, made my original back in '10. But there are people still active that joined in '07, and '06 (I think), so still got me beat, lol.
WTF. You had an older account than me?!?! You're the REAL O.G. 🤜🏽
Dissidia is amazing, super fun and it's a huge game on top of that. I beat it, as in rolled credits, but I'm pretty sure there's still just about as much to it that I didn't play, and I think even a couple characters that I never unlocked. It's a full on JRPG, it's by no means a simple arena fighter; tonnes of moves, equipment, maps, it's got a full on story to everything, neat remixes and some really good original tracks, and so many mechanics to the actual fighting - I don't know how much you know about it or not, so I won't go into it too much unless you want to hear more, but I absolutely cannot recommend it enough. I've got a DS yeah, so I'll try and get myself a copy a some point.
At the same time though, I feel like I actually play through longer games faster because I don't have to worry about running out of game, that probably doesn't help much with the hundred and fifty hour long ones though - those are still impossible.
What's your favourite parts about Persona 3? And I've read hardcore fans saying it's best, would you say that's true, or nah? It'll take so long to get there from the beginning of (S)MT, so I wouldn't mind a few spoilers.
It's preference over quality. Do you have any 9/10 favourites? If you do, it's that taken further, it's a low-end favourite 6/10. Mostly because of genre, and aesthetic: NES-style SNES JRPG mostly set in highschool + quirked up = pleasing to moi.
Definitely agreed that it's Watanabe's best work at least in my opinion.
I love Samurai Champloo as well, but Cowboy Bebop just hits different mannnn!
Do you got a favorite episode?
OH! I have heard of Wolf's Rain, but have obviously not watched it.
Thanks for the recommendation! Appreciate it! :)
WHAT?!?!?! YOKO KANNO scored the soundtrack?!?!
YEAH. DEFINITELY ADDING IT NOW FOR SURE. XD
Sometimes the older animation style just hits different. ^^
I love old school sht man. XD
I'm even watching the OG of og of Gundam show. The 1979 one! lol
Trying to be more cultured in that series.
And no. I'm not going to watch every single gundam series. That's too much. DX Haha!
Oh. Interesting. Just saw your actual anime list just now.
You must've had quite an old original MAL user account, eh? Your old pludel account.
That anime list design is pretty old school now. :P
I've played X-2, XII, XIII, Dissidia 012, and Theatrhythm Curtain Call - so really not many. I've got the other XIII games sitting around to play as well but I also super want to play the DS versions of III and IV. I'm not super keen on the Pixel Remaster visuals myself, but that sounds like a pretty solid idea to me. And I feel you on that backlog issue, it's especially bad when it comes to JRPGs.
Well, I could be wrong. There's probably more people who have him as their pfp, but I don't
spend a lot of time in the forums, so. :P
Good choices as your all-time favorite.
Cowboy Bebop. Nothing has come close to it.
It's rustic hand drawn 90's anime, that 'old school vintage' vibe,
the gorgeous soundtracks, and the memorable characters, I knew the moment I finished it was going to my all-time favorite.
Too fcking good. 🔥🔥🔥
If the mechanic gets in the way of fun, and feels stressful, I'd get it. That's what I got from what you said about Persona 3's original release, though let me know if I'm wrong.
Hourai is a goofy highschool JRPG that I saw mentioned as the worst someone had played. It's might've been better without the high encounter rate, but it's one of those pieces of media that, despite it's argued mediocrity, sticks with you, in this case aesthetically.
SMT 1 is great, but after 10 hours, when they introduced the darkness mechanic (where you can't see, and have just a wall-hitting sound cue), I lost my motivation to continue. My OCD "collect, and see everything" side didn't like it. But regardless, SMT's trialistic (good, neutral, evil) philosophy, and the religious mashup are both things I haven't seen done to such effect elsewhere. I might just restart with Megami Tensei, because I beat Akalabeth, so I think I could handle it now. Oh, and how much did you play of SMT?

Been a long time, since I've seen someone here that has Spike Spiegel pfp.
Your top 1 favorite anime I'm guessing? :o
Catching up on any good anime?
Most of the ones I’ve been watching is seasonal….the wait. ><“
