Nice to meet you. I'm Japanese, but I registered to study English. I can't speak English very well, so it may be late to reply, but I'd be happy if you could get along with me! As the number of my friends is increasing, I may decline your friend request if there is no particular reason for it. In that case, I'm sorry.
There was a time when I was a little bit of a cosplayer. A long, long time ago, though.
Anime movies I've seen in theaters recently
Meitantei Conan Movie 28: Sekigan no Flashback Mononoke Movie: Dai Ni Shou - Hinezumi Versailles no Bara (Movie)
Then again, I love the Slayers series, so I'd love to talk to someone or something!

That was my bad I think that I just happen to misread the posts at the time because I was over tried that night replayed to your post anyways sorry about that.
Hello! I'm very sorry that my reccommendation was something you had read already :(
I did try to check your list, but I must have missed it!
Sorry again that I couldn't give a good reccommendation OTL
I had to but my actual books elsewhere to fit Berserk and Vagabond into the shelves. My library picked up Vagabond just recently because Vagabond got a reprint in a 2in1 edition. The single volumes are really rare and fetch a very high price. The same goes for Berserk as well.
This is my collection, it's not fully up to date and I've got some more manga stored in my wardrobe which I want to sell.
Brushbuddy guarding my collection with his life (probably)
Vagabond is also part of the manga which I own but didn't read yet. Guess I should do that soon ^^
I think there are likely many people who don't automatically recognize an actor speaking with a skull as Hamlet, but they'll know it as Shakespeare. It's one of his most iconic images, along with the line "To be, or not be, that is the question", which is also from Hamlet, and funnily enough although people will combine them they happen in different scenes. However, I've learned not to take these cultural points of reference for granted. I tutor adults learning English who come from different countries and there have been times where I'm surprised they aren't familiar with something very famous where I am, like Sherlock Holmes or the works of Edgar Allan Poe. It makes me realize that it's a very big world out there, and it's a great feeling to share these works as well as learn about culture from other countries as well.
I was vaguely familiar with Mickey's Craziest Adventures, but haven't read it. I looked it up and it turns out it's French, which explains why. My experience with Disney comics is primarily from American and Italian comics, with a bit of other European ones too. Several countries have built up their own styles and traditions regarding the comics, Italy for example has several new characters invented like Brigitta. Craziest Adventures looks like it has gorgeous art, so I'll have to read it too. I was a little surprised to see Mickey and Donald together, as in many of the comics they rarely interact with each other. Also if you like Scrooge you absolutely have to read Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. It can be difficult to find now, but that is a whole epic about his life story mixed in with American history.
And please don't feel bad about your answer to my question about Henson, it was very informative! I'm happy to hear that Sesame Street is well known, and I love all the Cookie Monsters in that cookie shop. Were they good cookies? Something interesting I'll add is that Jim wasn't actually as involved with Sesame Street as people think. The show was already in development and he was hired on to produce short segments with puppets. When they tested the show with children they found that they were most interested in the parts with puppets, so it was retooled to have them appear more. He was actually somewhat conflicted about it because he was worried about being viewed as a children's entertainer when he was attempting to make a show for adults. But all that being said he is undoubtedly part of the show's DNA, creating many of the muppets and performing ones like Ernie and Kermit.
Muppet Christmas Carol is perfect for December, and it's actually one of the most accurate adaptations of the book even with the muppets making jokes. Amazingly the outfits are more accurate to what people actually wore in the time period of the story than many serious dramas. If you watch it be sure to watch the version with the song "When Love is Gone" included. It was removed from the theatrical version and it makes a section of the film feel too short.
I hope you don't mind these very long messages, I've been enjoying chatting with you.
Thank you, you did a great job with such a difficult song. So many Gundam songs are great but as you said, most western fans aren't familiar with the series, it's a shame. Still, I think many Gundam songs are so good that can be appreciated by non fans, I like many songs from SEED and I haven't watched that one yet.
As for the extra entries, yeah, I didn't hear about those songs prior to the contest. LiSA is an incredible vocalist with such a powerful voice, attempting to sing any song of hers is definitely difficult, I really struggled with Crossing Field but at least had fun while doing it. Random english lyrics in anime songs are indeed awkward, sadly those are quite frequent nowadays.
I wasn't too keen about singing these songs either, but I had fun trying to make it work. It's a karaoke contest after all, perhaps trying to do a previously unknown song is the final challenge lol. Had the same thoughts about the song selection, most of these are considered classics so maybe I was at fault for being out of touch with the anisong community.
Hey, I just listened to your cover and you sound great! Singing in such a pitch is so difficult but you nailed it, plus it definitely fits the melody. I originally planned to sing Beyond the Time from Char's Counterattack but I thought it was way too long, people unfamiliar with the movie might have found it boring.
As for singing like a voice actor: I love character songs and love hearing the seiyuu singing in character, it's an impressive ability imo. I joined the voice acting event too and it was such a struggle to stick to one voice, can't fathom singing in character.
One of my favorite lyrics from Nightmare Before Christmas is one in Jack's Lament when Jack takes his head off. In English it's "And since I am dead, I can take off my head, to recite Shakespearean quotations", and in Japanese it's "そう死んでいるから頭をはずしてオペラもこの通りさ", replacing Shakespeare with opera. The problem is that it's directly referencing a famous scene in Hamlet where the actor speaks holding a skull, and with the change to opera the joke is lost. I'm not sure if it's because Hamlet isn't that recognizable in Japan, it was too difficult to adapt those lyrics to Japanese, or a bit of both. When I get better at Japanese I'd be interesting in doing a deeper analysis of the lyrical changes.
Which comics did you buy overseas? The stories don't have a set continuity so you should be fine starting wherever. It can actually be better to read some of the later ones first, because it can take awhile for the characters to evolve into their proper forms. For example, Christmas on Bear Mountain is the first story with Scrooge McDuck, and it's a good one, but Scrooge portrayed there is very different from later stories. Also I'm glad that you're interested in Outwits the Phantom Blot! You can find it in the fifth Fantagraphics collection of the Mickey Mouse comic strip. They're a little expensive, but very well produced.
Thank you for answering my question about Jim Henson! I'm a little saddened but not surprised, he died young in 1990 and the companies involved haven't done the best at preserving his legacy. His most famous creations are definitely many of the puppets in Sesame Street and the group The Muppets. He also did the movies Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. I'd recommend you to watch some of the live show appearances he did, they're really funny and show what a talented puppeteer he was. Also because it's almost Christmas you can watch the Muppet Christmas Carol, which was made after his death, but was directed by his son and is one of the best post-Jim Muppet projects. Here's a video of Jim on The Tonight Show, it's a great one. https://youtu.be/9MiNN3VeVyg?si=6Qo5jO7dx3hIYVrw
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you the show lifted your mood. But i wonder if you would still go to other unrelated events, like for work..
I'm feeling bad about myself lately so my comment was self critical. It had Nothing to do with anything else..
I like talking to you.. Anyway I wanted to make a bad joke but I better not since you are feeling blue.

鬼滅の映画は、まさにその通りだなって思った!
フラッシュバック→戦闘→またフラッシュバック→また戦闘…って流れがちょっと疲れちゃったよね。
ここ数年、村上春樹の小説にめっちゃハマってるんだ。
