Man, I was hoping that nothing bad would happen. Finally Rei was happy and actually living her life. I could sense that something bad was going to happen though. I wonder how this is going to affect those around her.

The circumstances of her accident are all a bit odd... I didn't like that scene very much although it might set the show for some interesting final episodes.

Yeah, the thing that taints this episode is: why the hell would someone go for flowers that fell into an oncoming train? Maybe it was a reaction type of deal, but eh I don't buy it. The way the episode kept cutting to trains, you just KNEW something would happen though.

Just how many times has Rei tried to kill herself?! And now she dies accidentally when trying to grasp a flower? I feel like her death was totally vain. Ironic, maybe? But I don't feel like laughing.

What the hell? She reaches for those flowers by jumping up and away from the railing? It's like she jumped and magically floated towards those flowers. There wasn't a typhoon-force wind either. Ugh. T_T

Also, I can't believe Rei's mom would commit suicide in front of her own child. While talking to her at the same time.

I could see this since the start of the episode. Death flags everywhere. I hoped it wouldn't happen. Oh well, accidents happen, maybe the execution could have been a bit different. What matters though, is that Rei died. Wonder how it will change Miya now.

Oh my god no. I knew it was coming because of spoilers, and thought her sudden mood shift was kinda suspicious, but I didn't think it'd be unintentional. Rei was really shaping up into my favorite character too. And poor Nanako, she finally scored a date with the person she'd confessed to too. I wonder how Kaoru's going to react to all this.

What the fuck. I had a feeling Rei would leave us, not because of all the death flags here but just in general since the beginning of the series, but not like this.
Not like this. Jumping after a bouquet.
The line between genius and idiocy is very thin.

God god i'm going to have to watch something dumb, funny or relaxing after this series.

From the beginning I was thinking "Oh plz one happy episode plz it MUST be happy episode".

WTF Ikeda, WTF WTF WTF
Why can't she die in next episode???
Because of the conception 'no episode without drama'? Or because the author didn't know how to draw a date between women??
WTF was happened? Has she planned it?

And, oh gosh, 'I just took care about my sister, blablalba'. Best cousins ever and other crap.

What happens next? Nanako death during eating? Fukiko will lose her footing and die?

Oh geez, they've changed it quite a bit from the manga version, didn't expect that to happen this way :< And here Rei has finally found her will to keep on living... It's probably even more tragic that way. At least she died with a smile on her face...

Okay, but they could have choosen better cause of death for her. I'm pretty sure that even if she fell down on a train in motion, she'd instantly become a pile of meat, not had just glanced off of it and fell beautifully on the ground, having last few seconds of consciousness, during which she was able to reflect on her life, lolz.

Man, that death angered me more than anything. For a show that had been handling extreme melodrama so well, to just force her death into the story is just beyond my comprehension.

Wow, what a ridiculous death for an honestly amazing character. Talk about disappointing, like come on. She dropped the flowers so she FLEW off the rails to get them? Jesus.

This is the first change from the manga that did not improve upon it. The way she went in the manga had impact and significance but this? Ugh.

You could marathon the show and remember that 20 episodes back when Rei was still gothic sad, she did this before! haha!

Well, to anyone thinking this is ridiculous. This is my opinion.
Accidental deaths are all over the place in animes, but mostly they happen off-screen, before the events of the main story. And only then do pp feel sympathetic, sad, and their main pleasure is in watching the ones left alive deal with their loved one's death.
Like in Honey and Clover, Sangatsu no Lion.
Why, you just have to tell yourself that there is no different btw characters you know nothing about, and char you love, that have been thoroughly developed. They are both humans. Accidents do happen. Let's take pleasure in watching the ones left alive deal with Rei's death.

Was it really an accident? Maybe I'm wrong, but Rei's reasons for joining in to abolish the Sorority were a bit flimsy to me. But if you take as a test for Fukiko to see what would happen to her if something she loved dearly was taken away from: the Sorority. Seeing her unchanging she felt that she could commit suicide without breaking the promise she made to her mother (who apparently committed suicide right in front of her).

Certain people that commit suicide grow calm and appear happy just before suicide because they are no longer in conflict over whether or not to live. That's why she spent the day before with the two people closest to her; Koaru and Nanako

Because if she died because she jumped after a flower from a train overpass I'm going to be annoyed.

That was the dumbest anime moment I have ever seen.
The show hyperbolized and forced drama a lot but it wasn't this forced, like this time it was downright ridiculous and hilarious.

OK it was obvious from the beginning that something bad was going to happen to Rei with everyone being all happy and dandy and whatnot, which is a bad omen for this show I guess. But for her to die in that way?! wtf. She could have died in many other ways, but she died while trying to catch a stupid flower bouquet and fell down to a crossing train?!

Since the scene was rather fast and jumping from one scene to another, I hope that a better and more satisfying explanation of her death will be given on the next episode. Otherwise it's just disappointing to see her go out like that.

Once I saw the platform to cross the train tracks I knew what was going to happen. Black to white, sadness to happiness. Promised date of sort. All the deathflags for Rei where there.

This is just too sad, seeing a depressed suicidal person like Rei finally find happiness and then die is just too cruel and tragic. Having previously been in that state of mind before I think my sympathy for Rei is amplified cause honestly I didn't really like her for majority of the series.

Edit: In a way I do see how her death was kinda dumb like others in this thread,it was easily avoidable, she didn't have to reach after those flowers, she could have let them go and bought another instead of losing her life for them but this is a drama and this was bound to happen and Rei was the obvious target to kill.

So Rei and Fukiko are full sisters and not half. Even though it's supposed to be tragic to see Rei die like that after finally being happy, I found it pretty comedic the way they portrayed it. Like what the hell was that, it looked like Rei tried to grab the flowers which is understandable but launching herself of the rails to get them and bounce of that train was pretty stupid

I'm not buying it, sorry, it wasn't an accident, it was unquestionably suicide. This evidently elevates a question: why? She was ostensibly feeling well, so why? With what we know, there's nothing we can conjecture that would make sense.

We know full well that Rei is rash and doesn't treat her life with proper care, but nonetheless she wouldn't die in such a stupid way right after the tides turned for the better.

Seriously! I was SO excited for the last 6 episodes being cute Rei and Nanako date sequences, because I totally ship them.. but nooo. This!

The whole part where the police were questioning if her death was a suicide was kind of odd, though realistic. Kind of shocking to see this in an anime.

That was so ridiculous and came out of nowhere, I couldn't stop laughing when it happened.

Jumping from an overpass to catch a bouquet of flowers. Solid move.

And did they have to turn this into a tragedy? I wasn't really interested in a romantic relationship between Nanako and Rei, but to end that relationship like this is awful.

haha wow. This is so stupid. I guess this was written in the 70s so lesbians were hated by Japanese society and the only way a story like this could have been made is if it went full "Kill all your gays" troupe. I'm really trying to like this series but it's making it really difficult sometimes.
