I loved how there was a link between Miya's and Natsume's situations. The entire episode was amazing, especially the when Miya, Natsume and Nyanko paint the tree branches.

It was also interesting to see Natsume speaking to an ayakashi and Tokou seeing Natsume talking to no one. It was a nice reminder that Natsume is hiding his power from the people important to him because of what happened to him in the past.

The only thing I want more out of Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou is Taki. I demand more Taki :[.

I have a funny feeling the relatives he's living with might already know he sees things but don't want to say anything to him because they're not 100% sure.

I wish he would just tell them. I mean, his cat talks for goodness sake. That's proof, right?

I really like the parallels between the two situations. Very nicely done.

Beautiful episode indeed, although I was looking for a more cliche ending, such as Miya joining him in the painting which would be in full blossom embracing him both with a smile on their face, cliche as it is I felt it would've fitted in perfectly, but oh well still a well done episode.

Yeah but it doesn't seem like they can hear nyanko-sensei talking..
Beautiful episode indeed.. I love how many touching stories this anime has =] and the depiction of lonliness through them aswell.

Beautiful episode. I loved when Natsume, Miya and Nyanko-sensei were painting the cherry petals.

I wonder if Natsume will tell Touko-san and Shigeru-san about the ayakashi…? Or maybe they already noticed or even know because of someone they knew…
I think, then procrastinate.
Therefore, I am.

Imagery was fantastic this episode. It actually made me want to make one of the scenes my desktop image. And so, without further ado,

I wish I had a BD rip or something higher rez for the snapshot but this is good enough for now until I get bored of it.

Aaaawww, nice episode. I'm glad that the yokai and the painting man reunited in some fashion.
I'm curious about her mask coming off at the end. Does it mean that the man now sees her true identity as a yokai, or does it mean that she appears completely human now without the mask? I liked the ambiguity of the ending--kind of Twilight Zoneish (but heartwarming, instead of creepy).

The connection between Miya's secret and Natsume's, that was very lovely. I wonder if Natsume will ever talk about it openly with the people at his house.

For some reason, I found this episode really touching. I think it's because of how Miya was afraid to show herself to Yasaka and then the connection Natsume felt with Miya because they were the same. It's heartbreaking when you can't tell the people you love what you're hiding from them. And then when Miya was traveling by herself (with Yasaka in the painting)...again for some reason, I just cried. Beautiful episode and I love the part where they were painting the cherry blossoms. I kinda wish I could do that with my room!

a beautiful episode. what i enjoyed the most was the conversation around hiding things about yourself from people who care about you. i feel like i've struggled with that my whole life, and to this day i am not sure of any absolutes i've understood about what's "right" or "wrong" ... for me, it's been most important to stay true to my feelings... and those feelings have a context of intense humiliation, alienation, and isolation... just as natsume has witnessed as well when people realize that he's seeing things they can't see. it is what it is. i look forward to seeing what natsume's relationships become. i feel like there is more truth blossoming, though it reveals itself through different times and spaces. also happy that this anime is not focused on a linear plotline that has a predictable end goal of absolute perfect ending or an ultimate resolution to life's probelms. just more on what natsume and all of the other characters learn. seems to be rooted in a non-western worldview of life. for that i love this show so much. <3

Yet another sweet, easy going episode that just seems to pass by all too quickly. Seeing the painting flourish with cherry blossoms and Miya reunite with Yasaka was moving. I really can't help but wonder if Touko has had experiences with youkai herself though.

And I like the direction the story is going in, with Natsume coming to terms with his abilities and hopefully opening up to his family soon.

A new element in the growth of Natsume and his relationship contrasted with Ayakashi; It is added. I always wondered if the story of Natsume to act as accompaniment to those of the various Youkai met during his life, or is it the other way. It's a little hard for me to understand, given that sometimes seem to be precisely the Ayakashi together to appear as the real protagonists of the story. However we saw a beautiful love story, that of Miya and his beloved, sweet and melancholy, no doubt about it.

This reminded me more of Mushi-shi than the other episodes; I think it's mainly because the climax didn't involve any shallow action. Rather, it was beautiful imagery throughout.

Natsume really can be self-sacrificing to a fault. Bakabakashii.

Well I decided that since I won't be watching any seasonal anime Monday - Thursdays this season, at least weekly as they air, I'd instead work on my backlog a bit. And I think I've decided to save Gintama, Cat's Eye, and Conan for May and June...possibly even just June and beyond, I dunno. Regarding at least April I have a few other shows in mind to watch. To that end, let's see if I can finally finish at least the second season of this. It's been so long I literally remember nobody except Natsume by name. Anyway considering this episode was all about cherry blossoms I find it fitting that I watched it in the first week of April. The one thing it didn't take me long to remember is how emotionally draining watching this can be. I mean, by all accounts this was a happy ending with Miya finally reunited with Yasaka. So why did it feel so bittersweet and sad? Can we hold off the waterworks for an episode or 2 please show? :D Also I can't tell if it's because this was made in 2009 or what but even at 720p this wasn't as vibrant and colorful as it shoulda been. I can think of many anime with better looking cherry blossoms, though admittedly from later than 2009 in most instances. I wonder if later seasons look better.

Thought the flowers might've been coming from the painting, but an ayakashi dropping them from a ceiling panel makes more sense.

That moment when Touko caught Natsume talking to himself; shit just got awkward.

Some nice visuals this episode. From the roots growing out of the painting to the gorgeous backdrops, this was definitely one of the prettiest episodes.

It annoys me how little Natsume cares for his own life. Dude nearly died because he didn't want Miya to burn the painting.

That said, the cherry-blossom-painting scene was beautiful. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (until Natsume collapsed that is).

Not really a fan of the ambiguous ending, but whatever.

Good episode regardless. 8/10

Splendid episode, the visuals were simply gorgeous. I really liked the story, sad but beautiful. One can see the parallelism between Miya's and Natsume's situations, the loneliness they both feel for not being able to tell the others about their circumstances.

I think it's been the best episode of this season so far.
