Welp, the finale of the 6 part series..

It had a Halloween theme with the decorations and outfits around town. For its conclusion, I guess it works considering everything these girls have been through. Plus, after all the depressing emotions, it's kinda nice to see the girls have a little fun. Oh and a little bit of magical action as well.

New material should begin next week so I look forward to that.

So Tougo lost her memory and her name changed, drama wise the effects of keeping her memory would have been better story wise it makes sense.
The anime was pretty good and it was nice to see the prequel even if we had to wait for it for a long time.
The series doesn't disappoint.

The Nogi family is just full of badasses T_T

Well, we'll finally be able to see more Yuuki Yuuna next week(?) now. Been really excited to watch it

Also, if anyone wants to know what Sonoko was saying in the memoirs, you should be able to easily google that up, though they're pretty easy to find out anyway if you've paid attention to the episodes

And that close Washio Sumi chapter.

Man no matter how many time I see this I still crying. The part when Sonoko look at Sumi with her half dead eyes really hit hard especially when this begin playing in the background.

Even though they win the battle and save the world in the end everybody lost in the end. Gin lost her life, Sonoko lost nearly her entire body making her half dead as a result and Sumi lost everything she want to hold dear the most plus neither of them can graduate properly and enjoy the rest of their school life normally. The most beautiful tragedy ever.

Also I love they forsake the OP in favor for more screen time. The change in ED is great too when the classroom is left black then in the end light start shining inside while sakura petal start falling signifying Yuuna entrance into the story.

Overall even after watching movie ver the TV ver is still deliver in all aspect. Though I still think Sakiwafuhana better than Egao no Kimi e.

Looking forward for new content starting next week. Though it won't hurt if they also adapt Sonoko After for one episode before moving forward.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

Still as feelsy as the first time. Honestly I understand why Togo (Wasshi) did what she did in the end of the first season because if you think about it, Shinjyu-sama isn't the ultimate good at all, technically the entity is evil. Humanity is just pawns in its game to be sacrificed for its own amusement. Honestly hoping the new material takes the time to realize it and doesn't just repeat the cycle but actually tries to put an end to it.
Don't believe the hype.

Not much else to say here that I already said on the movie version. A top tier adaptation of a 1 volume LN story which actually ended up improving over the original in a lot of areas imo.

Also next week is actually going to be a recap episode of S1 so don't expect new content until episode 8 guys.

Damn, props to Nogi for figuring out the horrible truth so fast and still being able to go all out and sacrifice so much for her friends and everyone else without an ounce of hesitation. They certainly made a good choice picking her as the leader for this group.

Oh, I agree. It looked too similar though: They fight, use Mankai over and over, there's a vex that uses a big fireball attack, someone goes out of the edge, sees vex assemble, goes back to try telling the truth etc. At least we got more context for the past events and Washio/Tougou. The pacing was too fast but it was expected for such short series, I find it weird how we got a whole episode watching them training but never see such thing after the upgrades.

I just read The Vegetarian today and the breakfast scene was a bit unsettling to say the least.

The 20th and 21th minutes were predictably great, but maybe not as great as I imagined.

Now gotta rate this right? A low 6 I think, with YYY1 a low 7. The characters were more endearing, but this has a bit of... unnaturality?

Still lots of feels, nice final episode to this prequel.

I personally think that WaSuYu worked better as a movie trilogy, I still enjoyed it a lot in TV format (giving this an 8/10) but I prefered it in 50 mins format.

Now it's time to get hyped for the sequel, crossing fingers hoping it delivers hard!

The document the teacher reads at the end of the last episode when detailing the upgrades to the hero system mentions that the implementation of the faeries also means they no longer need to combat train the heroes. If you watched the subs from Amazon (horriblesubs) they did not translate the document.

Well, to anyone who watched the sequel (first 2014 series) the ending is not a surprise at all. It's nice how the the transition to the sequel is.

I really feel like marathoning the 2014 series before watching the next 6 part series. It just wouln't feel right to go from this, to a sequel of the first series which is in turn a sequel to this.

Can't believe amazon translated mankai as all out. I immediately turn off the subtitle. This is the second big mistake after they translate taisha as amnesty (without capital letter) in ep 2.

Episode is really good. They add some scenes that weren't in the novel and make last scene stronger. Still, eventhough the LN skip last battle I had hoped the anime could've improvised a bit and add some battle scenes. Too bad they skip it too.

I think this season offer us a lot of things that are not conveyed in season 1. In s1 Taisha is just a deceiving mail buddy, while in this season we see more human side of Taisha through Aki-sensei who look after the heroes. In s1 we didn't get to see characters interaction with their family or friends much. This season we got to see the parents and classmates, who support the main characters. Lastly we got comrade's death and how the main characters cope with it, which I think is done really well in this season, and make the story impactful.

As for sacrifice I don't remember being mentioned in the other season(sequel) that the ones who implemented it was our dear religous society, so i guess this info is from this season, then again i don't exactly remember the interpretation of vertex and shinjyuu.

Dat soundtrack tho.

In a post-Madoka world, I really do think Yuki Yuna is one of the few magical girl anime to stand on its own. Pretty strong show.

Anyway, sad episode but I guess this explains what happened to the girls at the end.
Isn't the new system kind of dumb, and ultimately worse than the original system though? I mean, if the girls are forced to sacrifice parts of their body to fight, then they can possibly be crippled in a single fight or so, like what happened to Nogi. Either way, they can't fight anymore.

Well, then, time for the sequel series soon.

One last thing: what was up with the "blank" stuff at the beginning of each episode? Why was it always censored?

its not stupid system, before they had to completely depend on girls, and their skills, they changed it so they give them those skills, those gears make up for their lost parts as well so they can fight even after losing everything till they finish their duty.

Its just question of mentality if they will continue to fight for them(in sequel for example i remember teacher is lying to them that they will recover after they are finished with duty, they still figured out somehow its a lie), but losing stuff like memories might keep them from fighting:<

Its just that while before they could continue their life if they performed well, new system is sacrificing them in exchange for sure-win.

That went about as expected considering season 1.

Nogi figured out the "cost" of using that power. Her pirate ship was pretty cool.

This girl knows how to have fun.
I see her in the cover art for the sequel... so...

8/10 (very good) same as S1.

I definitely agree with the bold. I like how it expanded the world a bit and we got to see how everyone else perceives the heroes, and how families and classmates deal with it. Not to mention seeing more of the interworkings for Taisha was a welcome addition. In the first season, it felt like the heroes were pretty isolated with their endeavors, while this season shows that it goes deeper than the heroes.

And with this the prequel to the original story is complete and now I know what happened before Tougou lost her memories. I liked that it gave some explanations and a decent conclusion, but that's pretty much the only positive points I can come with about this series.

I'm finally done with this. God, it was so painful even tho it was only 6 episodes long. I felt like dropping this so many times. It was definitely more boring than the first season even tho it was shorter. It felt like watching the same thing all over again.

Time to move on and jump to The Hero Chapter with the lower expectations possible since it is impossible to be as bad as this season.

My opinion still remains: the girls scream way too much...

Holy shit that was actually sad as hell. Even more fucked up that all of their parents and stuff knew everything that was going to happen but the girls themselves didnt.

I really feel like I should've watched the first season as a refresher first, because the level of fucked-up connections really didnt hit me until essentially the very end.

Like when Wasshi got her upgrade to the gun, I still didnt recognize she was Mimori literally until she was in the wheelchair. Then I knew before she even said anything.

Pretty fucked up that they took her from her foster family, gave her a name change, and tossed her back out there to fight again.

Then I finally put the pieces together and realized that HanaKana giving the melancholy narrations as Nogi, and the way she sacrificed herself at the end, and that she was the girl who was like a mummy stuck to a bed who told Yuuna and them about the truth of the faerie system. Since its been so long since I watched it idk if she verbally said her name was Sonoko in the original show or not.

Just got done these six tonight, and I'll probably get the other six done tomorrow. I wont spoil it for myself, but I'm definitely curious to see the actual sequel to the first season. I remember them getting the use of their bodies back and such, Nogi did too I remember her sitting up in bed. I hope the last 6 episodes explain in better detail how Yuuki managed to get the Shinjyu to do that, and I'm curious to see if Mimori/Wasshi gets her memories back as well since we know she gets her legs back.

Ah, this was so sad, knowing what fate Sonoko has :( I'm glad she gets better at the end of the original season at least...
In some ways, the sad ending is a lot better than the overly happy one of the original series, but that one has its own charm as well.
I still liked the other season a bit more, mainly because I liked those characters more, with the exception of Tougou/Wasshi who I unfortunately couldn't like much in either of the seasons :/ I don't know, I just can't seem to care for her as much as I do for the rest of the gang both here and there, even though I felt sad for her now and in a few of the scenes of the original series.
Still, my favorite has to be Sonoko. She is just too great, and the most relatable. I hope she will appear in the sequel as well.

So that's how the bridge was destroyed. I wonder why their mankai drained the place around them though, that didn't seem to happen in the original season. Seeing Sonoko realizing the downside of the mankai was sad :( And especially when her heart stopped beating, and the face she made to Wasshi with half of her eyes dead :(

The soundtrack was once again pretty good. On the other hand, I can't seem to understand the purpose of episode 3, which could have been used for more build-up and such. The unnecessary ecchi during the transformations were also weird after the original season where only Tougou had some as far as I can remember.

Anyway, a 7/10 from me, one point lower than the previous one. It was a nice show once again, but I couldn't get as invested as with the other girls (save for Sonoko), even with this amazing last episode.
