Tsuki ga Kirei

With a new school year comes a new crowd of classmates, and for their final year of junior high, aspiring writer Kotarou Azumi and track team member Akane Mizuno end up in the same class. Though initially complete strangers, a few chance encounters stir an innocent desire within their hearts. A yearning gaze, a fluttering heart—the hallmarks of young love slip into their lives as fate brings their paths to a cross.

However, though love is patient and love is kind, Kotarou and Akane discover it is not always straightforward. Despite the comfort they find in each other's company, heartache and anxiety come hand in hand with pursuing the feelings in their hearts. With the uncertainty of how the other truly feels as well as the competing affections of those around them, the road ahead is unclear. Even so, under the shining light of a beautiful full moon, Kotarou gathers his courage to ask Akane a single question, one that forever changes their quiet relationship.

A Simple yet Beautiful Anime .

It might make you lose interest at the start because of how ... " normal " the Anime feels like but it soon turns it up as it progresses .
It has like the most innocent/ wholesome romance between Akane and Koutaro . It just makes u feel warm whenever they interact with each other .
The way Akane makes those noises ( i love her va ngl ) and Koutaro does the same stuff a bit more awkwardly . At the start , their whole conversation seems Awkward and boring but believe me when i say that it ... literally makes u tear up at the end . It might have not been the greatest ending and i would have been tweaking if they ended it without the post credit scene .

Touyama's OP and ED was just Beautiful . Yui's VA ( ie Touyama Nao ) just has the most Blissful voice when it comes to OP and ED and Tsuki Ga kirei's OP and ED are just as good . It was Beautiful . The Animation was just as good . The OP's animation changed at a point and i loved it ( from ep 7-8 iirc ) . But it was worth watching .

This isnt similar to the usual Romance Anime's releasing rn and it might be different but it is another Masterpiece which keeps you hooked on till the end .


Though it makes you empty after the end and whats even worse is that it is an Original Anime so .. there is literally nothing you can do about it rather than crying .
I cant take it bruh . Ik im not a Masochist but i literally dont know how to feel after watching Akame Ga Kill , Golden Time and now Tsuki Ga Kirei . But the short episodes at the end of each episode were pretty fun and hilarious

But all in all , the anime has an ending and it might have been in a slideshow format at the credits which kinda tore me up . I was crying since the last episode after Akane left for Chiba whereas Koutaro was chasing after her and finally responded in a loud voice unlike how he usually talks . . It was the best moment in the Anime and it tore me up . It was a bittersweet ending ( just because of how they showed it in a slideshow format rather than just stretching it to just 1 episode and ending it in a proper way . IT IS AN ORIGINAL ANIME AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT NOW ) .

It was a beautiful watch . Thank you very much

Mixed Feelings

Personal Opinion

I’m totally fine with the shyness of them it’s cute.
But the fact that they just won’t talk to each other is so annoying.

The visuals frustrated me the most. I have no problem with 3D (if it’s done well) but even the extra background characters were moving like mannequins.
Some scenes had characters running with Plain face! Like, what??

I do like the art style though. The character design is super cute and fluffy—totally my thing.
But once you pair that with the animation... it just feels off.
...
And the short stories at the end of each episode?
The sad part is here some of them were more fun than the actual main episodes 😅

As for the direction, pacing, and script...
It was just really flat Not nearly as deep or emotional as people hyped it up to be.

I did like the final episode, but honestly?
It would’ve been better if it had just ended right there.
That whole timeskip ending Too much sugarcoating.
Felt way too idealistic.

Tsuki ga Kirei is what happens when two socially anxious teens make accidental eye contact and decide that’s enough to build a relationship. The boy MC stares at his feet. The girl MC stares at her phone. Together, they generate the romantic energy of a dial tone.

People call it “realistic.” Yeah, if your idea of realism is watching two people silently suffer through a middle school crush like it’s a hostage situation. The entire show feels like watching two NPCs glitch into a relationship without ever triggering the dialogue tree. Both MCs have the emotional chemistry of two Roombas passing in a hallway. Half their ... conversations are just shy glances and single-word texts with the weight of a grocery list. It’s like romance by Morse code.

The pacing is glacial. I’ve seen frozen snails move with more urgency. Every episode is 20 minutes of, “Will they say hi today?” followed by, “Nope, maybe next week.” The only real tension in this show is whether or not one of them will have the courage to send a LINE sticker (LINE is the social media they text in). It’s like both MCs try to out-shy each other.

The side characters? Absolute background noise. Girl MC’s best friend is a walking betrayal arc, and Boy MC’s friends serve no purpose other than to remind you that conversations can, in fact, exist in this anime. Their entire contribution is goofing off and doing absolutely nothing. I’ve seen more developed personalities on cereal boxes.

And let’s talk drama, or the absolute vacuum where drama should be. There’s a love triangle that fizzles out with the intensity of a wet match, and the climax is basically a mild inconvenience. The stakes are so low they’re subterranean. I’ve had more intense emotional moments choosing pizza toppings.

Animation? Looks decent at first, until you notice every background is flooded with cursed CGI extras moving like they’re trying not to trigger motion sensors. It’s like watching a heartfelt romance take place in a Wii Sports crowd simulation. It’s like the whole show was animated by someone who was in a hurry to clock out.

Every episode is just quiet awkwardness stretched to its physical limits. If you’re into romance without substance, characters without personalities, and drama without payoff - congrats, you’ve found your masterpiece. But if you ask me? Save yourself the time. Read actual texts from two teens dating in real life, it’ll be more entertaining, better written, and probably have better pacing.
