Yes! That is the power of original anime, baby! No need for multiple seasons just to see characters kissing.

This may be the most satisfied ending of all 12-episode anime that I've ever see!

I'm guesso by somewhere along the lines of 8.15 or 8.2.

It'll pass 8.0 in a few hours i'm sure of it, it'll average around 8.1 to 8.3 i'm guessing. Now that the show is done, lots of viewers waiting to binge the show will be able to see it now. Hope this studio and the show gets the recognition it deserves. I understand it was hard for the studio given all the production issues so i'm hoping the viewers help them know that the show was a huge success in the end, especially for a completely original story.

Great series, enjoyable episode with one of the best ending 2k17!

I loved this series from day one and I am very happy it kept up its momentum and finished like this; I can't be happier right now!

Favourite as top anime ever, this is how to do a romance series!

HELL YEAH! A FULL FLEDGED HAPPY ENDING!! HA!!

A beautiful ending for a beautiful story :')
I was so anxious that I couldn't wait and checked out its ending. I don't think I would've been able to watch it peacefully if it weren't for that haha. But even so, I really enjoyed the finale. The soft music accompanying the whole departure scenario was great. The post ending scenes were lovely. Especially when you take notice of the names they had for each other, which kept on changing and became more intimate in the chats over due time :')

Overall, I'd like to say this one of the best fulfilling romance I've watched in the recent years. Watching Koutaro and Akane acting awkwardly around each other with some diabetic cute moments from time to time always put a smile on my face whenever I watched the episodes.

It happens to be a progressive type of romance, just the type I prefer. So it was pleasure to see how Koutaro and Akane's grew better with its each successive episode. The anime always had this good ambiance which made you always engrossed in it. Also, the music was just another beautiful element of the anime. Loved how well it was executed.

9/10

Pretty sure it will reach about 8.15-8.3 within a week or so. Astonishing how it began off with like 7.2 with its first few episodes but now 8 seems so inevitable.

It was a nice ending, and loved the post ending story board, if we never get a season two a nice way to tell us what happened.d

I loved this anime, it started slow for me but I just couldn't help but fall in love with those two.

The ending was just beautiful. Although, I don't believe long distance relationships work, they portrayed the messages and the problems that occur with couples well, how they are lovey dovey sometimes then they fight, they don't message much back and all that. I'm really happy about the ending though. It was a great experience watching this anime, one of the best this season.

You know, I just realized why I love this series so much and hold it so dear to me. My Girlfriend and I have been together for almost 4 years and have been in a long distance relationship or over a year already. We may have problems with spending quality time with each other and find the time to talk but in the end she's still the person I look forward to talking to after a long day. I guess, it just hit me a bit harder than most since the show almost reflected that feeling of dread and sadness of being far apart. Couldn't hold my tears at the end glad I decided to watch this show for sure.

I was worried for a second, but never in a million years was there a chance for Chinatsu and Kotarou to end up together. Each time they talk Kotarou is either looking for Akane or thinking about her. No chemistry at all. I appreciate how clear the writers made it that Chinatsu's feelings were one-sided.

I notice the contrast between this and 5 cm/second. In 5 cm/second, during first act cellphone usage are still uncommon but for this anime which take place in period where phone and technology allowing for easier messaging through LINE.

And wow. Look at the poll result. 93% give it 5/5.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

I like how there wasn't a cliche meeting at the train station, and Akane didn't even see Kotarou out the train window as she passed by. I thought for sure that would at least happen.

I loved this anime and will love it - i'm happy with whole series and even how it ended - after all they were for long with each other (since third episode I think it was) and they got married (what we can see in ending) - which makes me happy. The one thing which made me sad is that we didn't saw they together at trainstation or at least Akane didn't saw/heard Azumi screaming he loves her, it would totally destroy my feelings.

still 9999999/10.

Azumi and Akane, stay strong :^)

I really enjoyed Tsuki Ga Kirei. It was a nice, smooth lighthearted type of anime for me. Tsuki Ga Kirei was really relatable to me in how I'd expect middleschoolers to act. Their relationships aren't crazy serious or get into drama. However, it did show how family issues and distance can be a real issue. This ending was really shocking, it was sad for Azumi to not pass, but it is in a way very realistic. Azumi was kind of an average person, while Akane was someone who was a bit better tham average education wise. I guess even in the end if he didn't pass, the after ending text messages do show that they do end up with each other either way so I'm satisfied. It'd be interesting to see how Tsuki Ga Kirei would be made if it had more episodes showing the long distance troubles or the highschool life. Even so, it still was amazing for 12 episodes and was very emotional in many parts. I like how the anime showed Azumi's love for Akane through his story through his perspective in middleschool. What made the story even better was when Akane commented "What happens next?" In general, I really liked this anime and was worth while.

The series was really good, I felt the crying parts were a little bit rushed though and unnecessary because seriously I couldn't feel shit when Akane cried for like 3 minutes. The romance was awesome, I was getting those NTR vibes when I started seeing closely that they won't be seeing each other again but luckily the ending cards worked well to fix it all up but seriously one more episode would've been so much better if a timeskip with animation and shit would've happened too.I would've ended episode 12 with how Akane left with the train and Kotarou went chasing after it but I would've added after that, a cliffhanger of how he is having trouble catching trains or finding a job and that would add lots of plot to episode 13 as well (around 10-15 minutes) and a time skip screen time of about 5-7 minutes. But I'm not disappointed of how the anime ended.
Average music(+0.5), brilliant romance(+3), No NTR (+1), no loli torture porn (+1), nice plot(+2), no show time of how or what Hagita did to confess his feelings (and obviously get rejected anyways) but who really cares (-0.5), realistic and great characters (+2), shitty CGI + animation (-2), nice art (+1) great locations for dates, school, homes feels really realistic. (+2)

8/10
I wish for a sequel to this even though we already know what happened, even though we do it's always more interesting to see the way it happens and not "what" happens.
Different points of view for characters like that blonde kid that loves that middle school teacher and Hagita x Cucked short-haired girl maybe? (Cuck x Cuck) would be nice.

Honestly I'm wondering if that Happy End was really intended from the start or or not.

The stuff they say at the end, the atmosphere - it felt so much like the end of the road. Maybe they were afraid of the feedback from the fans, so they decided to add the scenes.

I hope the teacher confessed ^^

That was a very sweet ending. The running part did hit a bit of a cliche but at least they didn't have her see him like most typical anime. Though that at the same time kind of hurt for her to miss it.

I can see why he didn't tell her. he probably didn't want to ruin their friendship. And she wanted to know because she felt... well they are dating, that's something she deserve to know.

IDK for some reason at that final animated bit, the whole first love thing made it felt like they won't be together at the end. I thought they will be friends but no longer dating or something. At least I got the vibe of it being a first love thing. But the ending showed they married after graduating from school and getting a job.
Which felt a bit cheesy but I guess it worked out, still believable. I felt a bit more ambiguous ending is better. After all they are only middle schoolers, rather unlikely. But with the age of the internet and cheap high speed public transportation this becomes a rather possible outcome.

The story was simple but well written. Shows you don't need anything exciting to make a good love story. Above all the story and characters are relatable and believable. One of the best love story anime I've seen tbh. Didn't have anything special, but achieved that certain charm of a first love.
All the wacky stuff in anime usually detracts it from the romance. Just simple classic love. Nothing more, nothing less.

Despite of the low quality animation, Tsuki ga Kirei is a perfect love story.
It just feels so real, so diffrent from other school love stories. There is no fan service, no unnecessary jokes and gags. This makes this anime incerdible unique and just nice to watch.

I liked the ending montage but let's be real here. A long distance relationship like that, especially for middle school students, would have never worked out. The staff played it safe by going with the happy ending and almost felt like they were pandering. To be honest, a Shinkai ending would have been more fitting but eh that's just me.

It's also a shame we never got to see much of the supporting cast because they were really interesting.

Your comment reminds me of the wise old adage, "Never say never."

Although highly unlikely, it is not impossible that such a romance could last into adulthood and marriage. And if it's not impossible, why not create a story using that as a premise? The premise is a lot more possible than that of most other animes. As Disney knows full well, fairy tale romances with nigh-on-to impossible happy endings are what the general masses enjoy most.

Oh god, I have no words other than how beautiful the finale was and full of wild-running emotions ;__;.... Gotta hand it to the staff how they managed to wrap it up like this, well done montage as well. That ending was just so precious, I'm so happy they managed to pull through the long-distance and eventually married....

Without a doubt one of the best shows this season. A love, actually a first love, can't be any more innocent, pure, adorable and real than this in my opinion.

I am actually so torn apart right now. This episode was so sad and overall I enjoyed the entire series immensely but how it ended is leaving a weird taste in my mouth. I can appreciate that there wasn't an asspull for an ending but I can't say I was fully satisfied with the scenes during the credits either.

If only the credit scenes were animated with maybe some narration from both of the main characters. That would have sealed the deal for me at least. On one hand, it's nice knowing that things worked out in the end for the two of them but how they chose to show it to us felt a bit empty to me.

I am so badly wanting an OVA or something although I'm unsure what content they could offer us now given that the story has come full circle.

One of the better and more memorable anime from this season and I am very glad I stuck with it.

Solid 9/10.

I don't believe it could play out like how this show makes it out to be but even if by some small chance a romance like that even happened, it doesn't change my point that the staff plays it safe by using the montages instead of showing how their romance lasted till adulthood. We never see any of their daily struggles as they try to cope with long the distance relationship while living their lives which is why the ending feels like they're pandering.

I also don't quite agree with the second part. Romio and Juliet isn't well known for having a happy ending and neither is something like Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuioku-hen or heck Final Fantasy X. General masses can enjoy bittersweet endings too.

Sometimes you just need a good, solid happy romance to pick you up.

And that is exactly what Tsuki ga Kirei turned out to be and I am freakin' thankful to the creators for it! This could've been one of those bitter-sweet or open-ended or down-right literary-types that all have some kind of sad element to the *overall* finish, but not Tsuki ga Kirei.

Yes, it was sad that Kotarou didn't get into Koumei.

Yes, it was sad that Akane moved away. (Having moved so many times in my childhood, I totally understood their feelings on that.)

Yes, it was sad that he didn't see her off at the train station.

But...

His story said everything that needed to be said.

He ran all the way to the train crossing to shout to Akane (and the world) that he loved her.

She didn't give up on him (as evidenced by taking her "potato" with her).

She reciprocated the strength of his devotion for her.

And it paid off with the rare -- but possible -- successful LDR.

This story had its ups and downs, its suspense and tension, and the endings is what makes all those moments worth it.

10/10.

I couldn't have worded it better.

I'm going to miss this show.

Not wanting to get into any long disagreement, but I think people (not just you) are missing the point of the end credit sequence. With every episode we were given glimpses into the future of Kotarou and Akane's relationship via the ED LINE chat messages, whether we realized it or not. There is also one most significant piece of foreshadowing that I've not seen anyone mention on any of the forums I've been on (I'll get to that shortly).

The ending sequence of episode 12 is quite befitting of a series that time-skipped to specific events throughout the entire final year in the lives of the Akane and Kotarou. It ties together future specific times in their love life with LINE messages from those times. Of course most of us would rather have seen more episodes that detailed the joys and heartaches that they endured, but to put that all into 12 episodes would have made the series as a whole ridiculously rushed. Had the studio had the budget to do 2 cour then, sure, there could have been a greater detailing of their lives together and apart.

Oh, as to that foreshadowing I mentioned, at the very end of new OP starting with episode 6.5, on the very bottom right-hand corner of the bottom page of Kotarou's [13.70] manuscript is written the Japanese つづく which does not mean the end, but does mean, of course, to be continued.

As someone who's currently in school for fiction writing, although I'm not sure how the market is over in Japan with light novels and such, the probability of him getting a book out there and just living off writing stories is pretty unlikely, usually you get a main job to work on and do your writing on the side.

Oh yeah, for sure, I know that much. Still, with it being something of a subplot throughout the anime, with his love for writing and his mother's worry for his future and all, I would've liked if we got something conclusive of what career path he ended up choosing in the end.

Eh. No matter though, there's other loose ends but I'm fine with the ending overall.
