Black Clover

Asta and Yuno were abandoned at the same church on the same day. Raised together as children, they came to know of the "Wizard King"—a title given to the strongest mage in the kingdom—and promised that they would compete against each other for the position of the next Wizard King. However, as they grew up, the stark difference between them became evident. While Yuno is able to wield magic with amazing power and control, Asta cannot use magic at all and desperately tries to awaken his powers by training physically.

When they reach the age of 15, Yuno is bestowed a spectacular Grimoire with a four-leaf clover, while Asta receives nothing. However, soon after, Yuno is attacked by a person named Lebuty, whose main purpose is to obtain Yuno's Grimoire. Asta tries to fight Lebuty, but he is outmatched. Though without hope and on the brink of defeat, he finds the strength to continue when he hears Yuno's voice. Unleashing his inner emotions in a rage, Asta receives a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a "Black Clover" giving him enough power to defeat Lebuty. A few days later, the two friends head out into the world, both seeking the same goal—to become the Wizard King!

Patience is a virtue they say. And its true in many cases for me when watching long running shounens like Black Rover. Had i decided to write a review for this after 30 or so episodes i might have only given it a 5. Asta is one of the most annoying protagonists ever. Constantly screaming and shouting. A complete idiot. Theres not much story development. Theres to much time wasted on Asta being a complete idiot.

But then around episode 30, or the Midnight Sun arc something starting to happen. An antagonist, more backstory, world building, and pieces of the story puzzle starting to take ... stage. There are some great fights. Animation is top. And thanks to this we have to endure less and less of the Asta being stupid and boring shounen ”humor” stuff. And from there to the end its a wild ride with the Elf arc being some of the best there is in shounen. And by the time the show has ended it all feels a bit empty. Both because the journey ended up bring so great but also because it ends with cliffhanger and no resolution.

One thing that stands consistantly good is the music. Both the OP/ED and the original score.

It may not reach the heights of the big three in shounen (Bleach/One Piece/Naruto/ but its not far of at its best.

Mixed Feelings

Anime with friendship and a motivated protagonist, although powerless, are all included in this anime. The main thing is its not only story about protagonist also about the side characters also. The spice elements make is better to watch like magic, demon etc.

Story (6/10): the story is generic, its taken from others source like mixing up two or three anime ideas. But it doesn't less its appetite but feels boring.
Character (6/10): need lot of work on that matter like why is the high of main protagonist is this small, like his muscle is bigger then his Hight and his gfs. The background story of character is well ... enough.

Artwork (6/10): well enough
Voice-over (7/10): well enough

Enjoyment : I've enjoyed it, but lot of parts like adventuring, roaming makes me feel bored.

Eventhough I sat through all 170 episodes and even watched the movie... i do not recommend you to watch it if you dont want to waste your time. I would even have a mixed feeling about it if the animation wouldnt be so shitty.

There were some good 5 moments in this show. => The only arc i somehow enjoyed watching was the Elf Reincarnation Arc from about eps 100 to 122. The animation in this arc was actually good compared to the rest of the anime and the fights and story were also kind of interesting and enjoy able.

BUT... for the other arcs just straight ... up boring exept the first 3 eps.

Not to mention the last arc in the anime "the Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc". Villains are just ass-pulls and not writen well.
The only good thing about this arc where the first few minutes of the fight of Asta against Dante bc his Gravity-Magic was cool. but it just got put down by a repetitive and boring fight and bad power point like animation.

In conclusion: The story is just bad and boring, fights are repetitive and boring and the animation is just ass.

And also the story could have been compressed in about 50 total episodes. There are more flashbacks in one episode than there are fingers on your hands. And the flashbacks get replayed like every 2 episodes. Some flashbacks were shown about like 6 times... like i get it the backstory is kinda sad.

I also hate that asta gets like demolished in every fight in the first minute and somehow manages to defeat them with ease at the end because of another speedboost and him saying "I'm not done yet, i will never give up, AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH" ._.

If you really want to watch black clover:
Watch the first few episodes till asta joins the black bull, then watch a 10 minute summay on Youtube of the arcs till the "Elf Reincarnation Arc", watch the "Elf Reincarnation Arc" and then watch a 5 minte summary on Youtube of the other 50 episodes. By doing this you will save yourself from watching 140 boring episodes of the total 170.

My 5/10 rating is only because of the Elf arc (20 eps)... without it, it would be a 3/10.
