At the bottom floor of the building with a dog signboard, in the shopping district near the office street, there lies a cafeteria called "Youshoku no Nekoya," that has an illustration of a cat on the door. It's been open for fifty years and has satisfied various salarymen from nearby offices. Despite it being called a Western cuisine cafeteria, it also provides other varieties of menus. For the people of this certain world, it's their one-and-only special cafeteria.
There is, however, one secret to "Nekoya." The cafeteria is closed to the public every Saturday in order to make way for special guests. When a bell rings, customers from different places of birth and races appear who ask for mysterious and delicious dishes. They are actually the same dishes served to the salarymen, but these special guests find them to be more exotic than to what they are used to. As the cafeteria aims to serve masterpieces, it is usually referred as "Isekai Shokudou."
What is the strangest ,most unsettling and one of the strongest desires in this entire world. It is the feeling of hunger.... hunger for good food. It is interesting to see how this feeling of hunger can change people's mind drastically. This hunger can make people do any and everything...no matter who it is.. a salaryman or a beast .
The anime "Isekai Shokudou" is a bout a western cuisine restaurant , Nekoya , which seems to be a regular restaurant , serving normal food to people all day, six days a week. But there is a secret. During a weekend, the restaurant
becomes a eatery for customers from different worlds and races... serving them the same regular food, which on the other hand is somewhat exotic for the non human customers.
This anime shows how a person... be it a human or a beast, is ready to throw away his pride and sit in front of the table , just to enjoy a good meal. Its also about how its is just a single bowl of good food required to win a person's heart.
All of The characters are really good and likable. Besides the main cast, it is also interesting to watch all the different customers and realize how despite being from a different race... behave so much like humans when it comes to food. The setting and all the characters together make it a really enjoyable and heartwarming story.
The Art , being done by silver link, is really beautiful and color palette also matches the theme of the story. The character design is also pretty near but also feels somewhat bland and generic... tho is still not bad. The music... is just amazing ... the OP and Ed are really good and one just doesn't simply skip them.
In conclusion, The anime is actually good. The concept of the show is really interesting.. but with just 4 eps out as of now, there is not a whole i can say about. The show treats all its characters really well with respect which is not something we often see. I would really recommend this show to everyone one if u haven't tried it already.
Story: The story has its cliche aspects such as having the aspect of dimension traveling, but the anime puts a unique twist onto it. The story itself is not that interesting, but it has a refreshing feel to it. The creators take their time with the story, which is nice since it does not feel rushed at all.
Art: The art is fantastic its not too hard on the eyes and everything is easily identifiable and does not look confusing.
Sound: The voice acting seemed to match each character and there weren't any awkward points where it felt out of place. The music fit well with the
anime and was soothing and relaxing.
Character: The MC although he does not have a lot of info revealed yet, his character is not all that interesting.
Overall: It was a really relaxing anime, The story is solid and the art and music were nice. I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for an anime that allows them to kick back and relax and not give a dam about the world.
These is one of those series that are niche to those that like to watch anime for the chillax, rather than going for that typical slice of life with em young school girls. It's one of the many show in that department that make me like it so much despite it slow development and the movement of the plot. Which is a really good thing, there're no rush, nor irregular pace in this show. Even the structure, when they show us a short back story of a character, all of that was done quite well, and the order of what to show first is logical.
And you gotta love the concept of having people from different mythical races and ethicity (them being a person from a fantasy world), and come in to experience a dish, or rather, a part of a culture that they've never witness before. Will this gets old once the idea had been done multiple times? Yes, nevertheless, and we'll have to see what the anime have in store for us aside from that repetitious stage and structure for the events in each episodes. Where a character that's entirely different from the other, either in status, race and culture, are introduced.
Much of the sound tracks, the environment, the neatly drawn art and animation, and the vibes that this anime builds is gorgeous and superlative. And it's definitely not a show where you just comes and expects a very intricate, deep, and philosophical story. Instead, this anime is better to watch an expectation to enjoy it and chill. It's nothing like any other show that I've seen. The presence of the door alone makes the vibe seem heavily mystique, and magical. The evaluation of an anime shouldn't be narrow down to plot alone, tbh, it should be evaluated base on the genre of the show, and how it does in comparison to other slice of life and chillax stories there are. That being said, im surprised that the show's rating are rated quite low.
