'Kidou Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo' Unveils Cast for Prologue and Main Series, Second Teaser Promo

The official website of the Kidou Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) television anime revealed the main cast for the main series and prologue, as well as a teaser promotional video on Thursday. The anime is set to broadcast every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. on MBS, TBS, and 28 affiliate stations' Nichigo programming block starting in October 2022.

Kana Ichinose (Darling in the FranXX) will be playing Suletta Mercury, while Lynn (Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai) will be playing the role of Miorine Rembran in the main series.

Nadim Samaya: Hiroshi Tsuchida (Shingeki no Kyojin)
Cardo Nabo: Miyuki Ichijou (Detective Conan)
Nyla Bertran: Sachiko Kojima (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (TV))
Wendy Olent: You Taichi (Princess Principal)
Delling Rembran: Naoya Uchida (Vinland Saga)
Sarius Zenelli: Atsushi Ono (Re:Creators)
Vim Jeturk: Tetsuo Kanao (Dr. Stone)
Kenanji Avery: Youji Ueda (Ousama Ranking)

Hiroshi Kobayashi (Kiznaiver) is helming the anime at Sunrise. Ichirou Ookouchi (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch) is in charge of the series composition and script, and Takashi Oomama (Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis) is composing the music.

Marie Tagashira (Zegapain ADP), Juri Toida (Gundam Build Divers), and Hirotoshi Takaya (Zetman) are designing the characters.

Kidou Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo marks the most recent anime in the franchise since Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) aired in two 25-episode seasons in Fall 2015 and Fall 2016.

Cast is looking pretty good so far.
Its nice to see Kana Ichinose get her first major role as a seiyuu.
So far her roles were ones that didn't have much depth to them so this will be a nice challenge for her.

Looking forward to seeing this when it comes out

Last year or the year before, their illustrators gave interviews where they were openly proud that Sunrise was still using 2D mechas.

I keep seeing people talking about this series having 2D Mechs but I don't remember Gundam show ever having 3D Mechs.

Origin and Unicorn shows doesn't count since they're just a recut of the movies.

Most likely it will just be a gender bender version of most of their tropes. For example, it already has naive everygirl as the MC and edgy shoujo as the opposite female character. Just like the past Gundams had a hot everydude as an MC that was opposed to an aristocratic edgy handsome guy. The only thing is, given the Japanese mentality and Ichiro writing style, I can imagine that they can go the yuri or Class S route without the stereotypical romance as the biggest difference.

Gundam Info have released a statement about it's official screenings:

The screening events for "PROLOGUE" the prequel for the latest Gundam series "Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury" are decided!

Various screening events will take place, beginning with the San Diego Comic-Con held on July 21st in San Diego, California (Pacific Stand Time).
(Times and further details will be announced separately.)

Distribution for "Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury" and "PROLOGUE" will also be available on GUNDAM.INFO. Details will be announced at a later date.

Wow I did not expect Kana Ichinose to be cast for this. Suletta Mercury will be her fourth role in a mecha anime.
Lynn has actually been in Gundam before, voicing a younger Masahiro Altland.

Not a particulary big fan of the prologue (and thus the main series Gundam because of all the streaking lines) Gundam feeling heavily like a Unicorn-lite, but other than that I'm cautiously optimistic. At the very least Okouchi knows how to do a fun mecha show.

It's only character design so far, but why does it look so much like Darling in the Franxx? Similar costume design, cartoon character design, children learning to become mecha pilots...

Also, I'm interested in the emphasis on the second female character and the involvement of Ookouchi in writing the script. Are we waiting for some female super friendship and female Char-clone?
