'Kidou Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo' Unveils Production Staff

The official website of the Kidou Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) television anime unveiled the production staff and a second teaser visual (pictured above) on Friday.

The anime series will air on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. on MBS, TBS, and 28 affiliate stations' Nichigo programming block beginning October 2022. A prologue to the television anime will premiere at the Gundam Next Future: Link the Universe event on July 14.

Kidou Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo marks the first television anime in the franchise since Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) aired in two 25-episode seasons in Fall 2015 and Fall 2016.

Thank you. I realize I have yet to try anything he created. I will look into fixing that after I clear up some of my current backlog.

Wasn't it Valvrave that really tarnished his reputation as a writer? That show seemed like Sunrise was trying to make another Code Geass but without the entertaining style Goro Taniguchi maintained on that while directing.

Kinda depends on what you liked from IBO.
If you like the "nit and grit" and are okay with old animation, then Ryousuke Takahashi is for you. His entire opus is really interesting and covers all kinds of settings while maintaining a level of sobriety few other mecha directors have.

Ookouchi has kind of a negative reputation due to code geass but having watched a lot of his shit I think he's decent writer.

Been a while since a legit Gundam AU. Hopefully turns out well. Should at least be entertaining (trainwreck) if nothing else because of Okouchi.

They probably want the prologue episode that will come out in few weeks to be the first released footage to the public.

I'm quite cautious about the writer. The guy did some good stuff. But he also did Valvrave and Code Geass R2.

Hisone to maso-tan is a very underrated anime so its cool to see its director get that high a profile work, the code geass guy is a mixed bag for me but his hits are really good, infinite ryvius is a gem.

Everything over the mess that were Okada and Nagai on IBO, but I'm not a big fan of this either.
Okouchi's later works are too over the top for a more sober mecha franchise like Gundam. Too much relying on random twists. But then again he wrote King Gainer and that was a pretty good anime, so...

I had hopes it Okouchi would be the writer when Sunrise revealed the protagonist looking a little like Akira from Valvrave. Didn't think it would come true lol

Guess this explains why Code Geass Dakkan no Z is being written by the Kyoukai Senki writer. Okouchi is back to writing Gundam.
