Manga 'Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia' Gets TV Anime, Live-Action Movie
Ojiro began drawing the slice of life school manga in Big Comic Spirits in May 2019. Shogakukan published the eighth volume on Wednesday (pictured).
Synopsis
It all started with the death of one of the Astronomy Club's members. From this, the rumored ghost of the club came to life.
Grumpy insomniac Ganta Nakami stumbles across the moderately rebellious yet easygoing Isaki Magari in the Astronomy Club's abandoned observatory. Magari is jolted awake and tries to escape from the scene, only to have a broken door prevent that, forcing the two inside. The two forge an unlikely friendship, leading them to use the observatory as a safe space for them to interact.
Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia follows the insomniacs Nakami and Magari's time in the starlit observatory as they help each other cope with insomnia and the lasting effects it has on student life. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Shogakukan posted a special animated promotional video commemorating the release of the seventh volume last October.

Sounds like there’s a decent hype around this from here so here’s to hoping this’ll deliver.

Japanese Live Action sucks. Excited for the anime hope it turns out to be great.
The Rurouni Kenshin films as of recent are fucking fantastic for example

"Nothing but cosplay mess"
Yup, only watched the crappy manga adaptation ones, not the actual major movies or even the well-made manga adaptation ones.
As for now, you're still a know-nothing-know-it-all with very little knowledge in Japanese CINEMA. Then again, considering your age, not surprised. Widen your range first before acting like a big shot. Also, most Japanese movies are movies about normal people, so no, the problem is not with Japanese cinema, it's YOU and your narrow knowledge.

Damm bro this guy is annoying asf. I didn't even watched all anime classic that doesn't mean I can't give any opinion on anime. For what I have seen Japanese Live action is noting but a cosplay mess.

I don't care if you don't like the Japanese movies that YOU'VE WATCHED, but when you're generalizing Japanese movies like that, you're dissing people who made huge contributions to world cinema since the 1950s. Yeah, it's useless arguing with a know-nothing-know-it-all like you. Probably never watched any of the movies I mentioned, anyway. Just so know, many of movies I mention becomes influential in world cinemas, Including France and Hollywood.

Yeah, watching the crappy ones makes you an expert in Japanese movies, sure. None of the movies I've mentioned are "cosplay mess". You do realize there are movies where Japanese actors dress normally right? Or period dramas where the costumes are actually good? Like Ran, 13 Assassins, the Kingdom live action adaptation. No wait, of course you don't lol.

Why are you getting triggered !? If you like Japanese Live Action it's fine it doesn't mean everyone should. Moreover there will always be some exceptions in every media I might find something enjoyable who knows.

Ningen no Jouken, Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Tokyo Story, Kwaidan, Ran, 13 Assassins and Shoplifters would like to talk to you. Don't talk like you know about about Japanese cinema when all you've watched is some poorly made manga adaptations. Tokyo Story is considered one of the greatest movie ever made even by director like Scorsese. Ever heard of Kurosawa, Ozu, Mizoguchi, Kobayashi or Koreeda? No? Then shut up

The PV was done as a celebration of a manga Volume release, it’s not tied to the anime adaptation
Yea, it does look pretty good.
I hope that the anime ends up on the same level and gets a good studio

Figured it was bound to happen with its MAL high average score (8.44 atm)... oh well, at least the industry finally noticed something interesting for once and the PV genuinely looks great! Seriously, who's the studio behind this??
Gonna keep an eye out for further info, the little I've read of this manga was pretty chill.

But no one is talking about classical cinema here…
this is in the context of Live action adaptations so brining Kurosawa’s name and movies doesn’t mean anything, it’s not like he’s gonna direct it.
(And Ikiru and Redbeard are the best)
