'Odd Taxi' Gets Anime Movie in April 2022

The official website of the Odd Taxi television anime announced an anime movie on Saturday. The movie, titled Odd Taxi: In the Woods, is scheduled to open in theaters in Japan on April 1, 2022. The website also revealed a teaser visual (pictured above) and teaser trailer. The lead cast and production staff are returning for the movie.

The movie will reconstruct the episodes from the television anime and take place after the finale. Scriptwriter Kazuya Konomoto (Setoutsumi manga) wrote a new scenario for the movie. Asmik Ace will distribute the movie.

The mystery anime series aired in 13 episodes in Spring 2021. Amazon Prime Video streamed the anime exclusively in Japan, while Crunchyroll simulcast it with subtitles in North America. The latter will begin streaming an English dub on January 16, 2022.

Baku Kinoshita directed the series at animation studios P.I.C.S. and OLM, with assistant director Norio Nitta (Inazuma Eleven episode director). Kinoshita also drew the character designs with Hiromi Nakayama (Pokemon Movie: Ring no Choumajin Hoopa key animation).

Japanese hip-hop MCs and producers PUNPEE, VaVa, and OMSB composed the music. Production company P.I.C.S. is also credited for the original story and planning.

Synopsis (TV series)
Eccentric and blunt, the walrus Hiroshi Odokawa lives a relatively normal life. He drives a taxi for a living, and there he meets several unique individuals: the jobless Taichi Kabasawa who is dead-set on going viral, the mysterious nurse Miho Shirakawa, the struggling comedic duo "Homo Sapiens," and Dobu, a well-known delinquent.

But Odokawa's simple way of life is about to be turned upside-down. The case of a missing girl the police have been tracking leads back to him, and now both the yakuza and a duo of corrupt cops are on his tail. Set in a strangely familiar city filled with unusual individuals, Odd Taxi is a bizarre story about a humble taxi driver and the mystery of a lost high schooler. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

i like the open ending the TV show has but i admit i like conclusive ending more so im hype for this movie

Oh for fuck's sake, no. Any "additional scenario" after the ending will just cheapen it.

Once again, some cunt in a suit feeling entitled to even more money has ruined what was a near-perfect show.

Wow, only in 1 year, we can see the movie of this anime, instead going to 2nd season or take a break until few year later it's gonna be a special event (maybe OVA, ONA, etc)

Huh, this is pretty ironic. It was only recently that I was thinking about the possibility of a second season for this show and thought it would be unlikely even with the open ending.

Again with the recaps.... I was hoping more but it's not something I was waiting for. I didn't expected a sequel to the story but still I was hoping for more character arc or after the final episode where did the plot gonna end.
Still keeping the thought aside, I will still watch the movie for reminiscing the whole series.

Is it really a recap? It says they will reconstruct the TV episodes and will take place after the final, so does that mean the movie will have a different ending?

The TV anime had a proper and complete ending. If they give it a different ending then it will ruin the story for me.

I'm very happy about this. I wouldn't be surprised if the ending was a little different and if they added some bonus scenes, like things from the audio drama for exemple? Would be cool.
