According to Issui Okawa's Twitter, it was announced that his science fiction novel Michibiki no Hoshi will be getting an anime adaptation. The second sentence on the image indicating "screen adaptation to come Fall 2018" is not clear if it talks about the anime adaptation or if there is another adaptation coming. Further details regarding the project will be announced at a later date.

Michibiki no Hoshi is Issui Okawa's science fiction novel published under Kadokawa Haruki Corporation's Haruki Bunko label. Four volumes total have released.

Synopsis
People on the Earth traveled through the galaxy and had a chance to contact aliens. They realized that other races are late at civilization, so they have established the Ministry of Supporting Outside Civilization. They have sent officers titled "Outside Civilization Observation Officers" and started secretly supporting aliens. However, because a young officer named Tsukasa Tsujimoto and three beautiful androids discovered and mistakenly made contact with a creature called "Suwarisu," it caused the galaxy to be in turbulence later on...

Only 4 episodes for the anime is rather disappointing, hope the anime will be next year and not when the live-action film is. Hope we get info on studio and staff and a teaser anime visual sometime this Fall or Winter 2017. (Source for the 4 episodes: http://adala-news.fr/2016/08/le-roman-michibiki-no-hoshi-adapte-en-anime/)

Some random french site I've never heard of, do you got any other source? 4 episodes sounds incredibly disappointing.

No it didn't said how many episodes, basically the site mixed up between the total volumes of novel series and anime episodes.
(i don't even know how this french site got the info wrong when they just copying 4chan's thread in earlier today lol)

Well glad they're wrong, as 4 episodes would be way too little for 4 volumes (or more). Normally they're pretty accurate as they copy from Yaraon so wasn't expecting them to get something like that mixed up.

@Zefyris: Fixed the synopsis. Thanks for pointing it out.

Just realized the synopsis in the first post

@tsubasalover Your synopsis is wrongly translated, this is the opposite. Humans realized that many other races in the galaxy are late at civilization, so they established "Ministry of Supporting Outside Civilization" and are sending officers on alien worlds. Hence why this is the officer who is human assisted with androids and the alien he came in contact with isn't an officer.

'Earth is late at civilization, so the aliens have established the Ministry of Supporting Outside Civilization'

Why would they do that?

Aug 25, 2016 9:27 AM by Katsu-kun

Bad writing, they aliens should have realized that earth's technological level is due to humans using captured alien technology and punished the humans for doing so.

Sounds like a space opera you don't see a lot of these days, will probably be right up my alley.

2018 fall is the other(live action?) project, the anime one doesn't say when.
I think there are 2 projects for this series.

That's good to know, hopefully the anime comes sooner.

The point is to get people interested so they buy the novels to read beforehand. Watch the novel sales thread to see if it gets a spike.

Well if u say so. Altho its a bit ridiculous anyway...
That's the whole point of doing anime and live action adaptations anyways. This is also why sometimes you don't even need to do the adaptation. The ads for it can do the trick, get people to read it. No need to make the anime or live action movie in that case unless you think they have further potential to sell the books.
