Box office data has revealed that the 36th installment of the Doraemon movie series, Shin Nobita no Nippon Tanjou (Nobita and the Birth of Japan 2016), has earned ‎4,037,148,300 yen as of May 5. The earnings figure surpasses that of the 33rd installment, Nobita no Himitsu Dougu Museum (Nobita's Secret Gadget Museum), which earned a total of 3.98 billion yen in 2013.

Shin Nobita no Nippon Tanjou, which is a remake of the 1989 Nobita no Nippon no Tanjou movie, opened in Japan on March 5 and sold 3,559,4067 tickets in 62 days. According to the theater listing on the official website, most screenings of the movie will end on Sunday, May 8, when Japan's Golden Week holiday period ends.

The movie adapts the ninth volume of Fujiko F. Fujio's Daichouhen Doraemon manga series, in which Nobita and his friends travel 70,000 years into the past and meet Japan's prehistoric residents. The chapters of that volume were published between 1988 and 1989 in Coro Coro Comic.

This anime is really cool....Going so strong even after 45-something years and still showing no signs of decline....I guess anime (makers) must envy Doraemon a lot lol
Moreover Doraemon is the sole reason why some cartoon channels are still running in India...They air nothing else except reruns of Doraemon all day long.

Oh, makes me want to watch this movie, IIRC I've never watched this one
Just wait for it to be on TV like always.

That would be the last resort if I couldn't find the movie on the internet.

The commercial break is annoying

Why do I always hear about 300 movie screens for anime?
Doesn't Japan have thousands of screens so why the low number? is it because it's anime?
