'Girls und Panzer der Film' Sells 1 Million Admission Tickets

The official blog of the Girls und Panzer anime series announced on Tuesday that the movie Girls und Panzer der Film, which opened in theaters in Japan on November 21, has surpassed 1 million admission tickets sold.

As of April 4, Girls und Panzer der Film has earned ¥1,805,276,384 in the Japanese box office with 1,096,617 admission tickets sold. It is currently the fourth highest-grossing movie based on a late night anime series, behind Love Live! The School Idol Movie (2015), Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari (2013), and K-On! Movie (2011).

While standard screenings of Girls und Panzer der Film have mostly ended, the movie began 4DX screenings on February 20 and has since seen reinvigorated box office sales. The official website currently lists 33 theaters screening the movie in 4DX format, with three additional theaters scheduled to begin screenings later this month.

Girls und Panzer der Film will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 27. It will also be available for digital purchase on Amazon Video, Tsutaya TV, PlayStation Video, Hikari TV, Bonobo, and Rakuten Showtime.

A new update to the Box Office Gross for the GaruPan Movie.

Girls und Panzer Movie has finally passed the 2 billion yen milestone and has mobilised over 1.2 million attendees, as of its 27th weekend:
http://girls-und-panzer.at.webry.info/201605/article_6.html . I guess Madoka 3 only has a few weekends left before it falls to GaruPan, provided the GaruPan Movie lasts for that long at theaters.

The 4DX screenings is 1000 yen higher than normal movie tickets. The normal ticket prices are:

1800 yen for an adult
1500 yen for a university student
1000 yen for elementary, middle and high school students
1100 yen for seniors (> 60 years of age)
1100 yen on the 1st day of the month and/or on ladies' day (which is every Wednesday)

So yeah, that's why the trajectory of its Box Office gross increased a lot after the 4DX screenings started.

Girls und Panzer Movie finally overtakes K-ON! Movie for 3rd highest grossing late-night Anime Adaptation Movie:
http://girls-und-panzer.at.webry.info/201604/article_10.html . As I said, if the GaruPan Movie is given sufficient time at the Box Office, it would be inevitable it'd pass K-ON. For the record, it took 23 weekends for GaruPan to reach 1.9 billion yen, while it took K-ON! 22 weekends to do so.

Yup but I enjoy the trade off. I doubt they would have matched this quality 5-3 years ago. As long as I, the fan am happy I can care less about the sales. Besides they are making a profit from this franchise anyways. 1 billion or 800m its still good. Now if it made 500m I would be a bit worried.

Yes, the increase in the slope of the trend line coincides with the beginning of the 4DX screenings on February 20.

In the beginning it really seems like it's only about the girls making tanks / tank battles cute, but later on the tank battles are surprisingly engaging, clever and exciting IMO. That's also a huge part that made me like this series so much. I recommend watching it~ =)

Can't wait til this is released on disc. Finished this series awhile ago and was excited to watch the movie only to find out that it hasn't been released online or dvd yet.
