THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It's hard to look at Satoko the same way again after the recent episodes. Still, it seems Keiichi is still kind of fond of her.

This episode had a light and dark tone. I also still admire how wise Rika is with the adults. Very impresed at how she can keep her thoughts open but also planning ahead. I don't like the adults in this show tbh.

What happened to Takano-san? Is this Satoko-hen? And is that Hanyuu, wtf. Really, whether this is in the Satoko-hen or Matsuribayashi arc, help.

June 8, 1984, Rika's uniform was so cute. So they have passed the cycle of destiny? So it's 1 years for the future story? When viewed from Tataridamashi which began in June 9, 1983. I'm looking forward to Mion on this episode but it's like they discussed at school that Mion goes to another school. Even though Mion has left, club activities still continue.

Why is Irie-sensei always interested in maids, I thought Irie was a lolicon. Irie's examination of Satoko seems good, Hinamizawa Syndrome (God Syndrome) Healed! But Hinamizawa Syndrome should be incurable, why in this arc? This Will happy end or bad end, give me happy Route.

Hinamizawa syndrome can disappear as long as that person doesn't leave Hinamizawa or rather that person has to love Hinamiza? It is a fine declaration, there's no curse. Oyashiro-sama is always watching us.

I hope this will be a happy declaration. Hold on sec, is that St.Lucia archieves?

And yeah, new ED?

Satokowashi-hen...other than having Satoko's name in it, I'd feel that this is leading us into something totally different.

The opening portion is the finisher of Nekodamashi-hen, especially towards Takano and Tomitake. Trying to help vet Takano away from interrogation, the connection to Matsuribayashi-hen is as ever illusive. And Hanyuu though in a brief meeting with Keiichi and Co., a different timeloop reached in that it doesn't involve anyone dying.

WOW, did both Rika and Satoko look a fair bit aged donning Mion's school uniforms. Still having fun in school, always the good part to start a new arc, but without the Sonozakis this time.

In Hinamizawa, not having the syndrome is definitely a good thing, and that is true for Satoko. And meeting both the mayor and the Sonozakis' grandmother Oryo, to performing at the Wataganashi Festival (LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO), Oryo showing up with the Chief, and giving assurance that Oyahsiro-sama's curse is gone for good, as-is with the Hinamizawa Dam incident. Good intentions gone wrong once, now reversed with no afflictions of the curse whatsoever.

But don't forget: this IS Higurashi, there's no such thing as a happy ending.
The dream that Rika once had with Satoko about the timeline where they're together to enter St. Lucia...I'm suspecting a red flag in between those lines.

Wait, I’m a bit confused. What happened after last week’s revelation? Did satoko pull the trigger and make a new loop?

Also, this new original route is really interesting. I love Rika and satoko in the school uniforms 🤤 and could the key to peace be both of them leaving the village and going to school elsewhere? Really cool set up. Can’t wait to see how this plays out

Edit: nvm I just realised this is a continuation of s2 loop, so it just didn’t answer last week’s situation.

Some bad shit most likely goes down at St. Lucia next. To Satoko that is, not Rika. And Satoko makes a deal with "the devil" so to speak. That's what I'd guess anyway. Satoko won't just loop on her own, that's not how it works.

If that's what you believe Rika...

Wait wow this episode was pretty chill. Takano's plan failed, Tomitake came and took her. Some time passed, Mion graduated and both Satoko and Rika grew a bit and nothing much happened except from some SoL stuff and that was it???

I was waiting for the plot twist the entire episode lol and I guess having no plot twist was the plot twist of this episode. Thou I dun mind an episode like this at all. Considering just how much these kids go through, getting to watch them having a chill life is bliss.

Right so suddenly this is now a continuation of Matsuribayashi-hen then?

I mean after Satoko's revelation I guess the rest of the show might largely serve as a sort of origin story for Bern and Lambda whilst still also being a new continuation of the ending of the original. It's a bit warped, but could be interesting

The very name of the arc itself still indicates that things will go to hell pretty soon again anyway though

New school year so new uniforms for Satoko and Riko but no Mion at school anymore :(
Well for sure this episode feels very optimistic but I highly doubt it will stay like that, especially for how Satoko changed...

It's basically doing an answer arc like the eye-opening arc. I think continuing the events after Matsuribayashi. It's showing what led up to last episodes cliffhanger

Shion comes from St. Lucia, It's like they talked in the club that Mion had to go to another school. In that case, should the main successor of the Sonozaki family be absent from the watanagashi?

"I don't care if I get spoiled" I remember this so well lol.

At least my wish came true, I knew it would though. I want to know what happened in the original epilogue. From one sentence from Rika in the pronounciation, at least they didn't forget about Saikoroshi.

This ending, Idk, I didn't quite like it like the first one. This opinion might change, but Idk.

Something tells us that the cliffhanger in the last episode didn't end with a shot, but could as well. I don't see a chance for Rika in another loop, since Satoko seems to start off with a big advantage.

Yeah he reached L5 after killing his aunt in 1982, Irie keeps him in a coma because he's in a constant state of L5 and if he wakes up he will be violent and attack anyone in front of him/scratch his throat.

This is an editing/translation error right? All they say in JP is "gakkou"... didn't Mion just graduate high school and would be in college now...?

EDIT: Wow, I had no idea Mion was 14... from the character designs I literally thought she and Shion were high school seniors. Just kidding!

No she's going to high school, idk if they didn't explicitly say "high school" in the JP line but it's stated in the Matsuribayashi VN anyway that she was going to high school now, she's 14/15

So they just left us with last episode's cliffhanger and now are going to show us the root of the problem from scratch? Hello anxiety my old friend lol not complaining tho, nice way to nurture the suspense.

About this episode in itself, it is hard to take its easy going atmosphere when you know where it is leading us, but I liked it anyway. Older Rika wasn't surprising to see since we already saw an even older version of her, but, if I'm not mistaken, it's the first time seeing older Satoko, and probably we will see an even older version of her by the time Rika graduates and go to St.Lucia. Probably that's when whoever presented her to the loops will appear as well.

What?? I'm thoroughly confused as to what this series is trying to tell. I can't pin on the story itself, it's all over the place and it's very hard to connect one arc to another.

My guess is that he needed a reason to separate and isolate each club member. I don't believe for a second Shion would stop looking after Satoko (especially since she knows Comatoshi is in Irie's basement) and Mion would just miss Hinamizawa's biggest event. It feels like hack writing.

A great episode? Is this really Gou?

RIP newcomers tho. But to be honest I dont get why the Takano flashback was needed in this ep.

RIP Keichi's and Rena's growth spurt as well. Not even their hair changed lol.

I always assumed Satoko/the Houjo werent ostracized anymore after Matsuri but I guess it didnt happen.

And I really wonder what the cause will be for Satoko turning into the most irredeemable bitch.

Okinomiya isnt even an hour away so Rika leaving, after even asking Satoko to attend St. Lucia as well, is no fucking reason to start killing your friends in order to make them stay with you.

And we got our LambdaxBern joke as well. That's all for Umineko references everyone.

As for HS being curable now, I am fine with it. One year has passed so finding a better vaccine(unless Irie is lying about the results for whatever reason) is lofgical.
