I've been driving since 1997, after 2007 my interest in driving or having cars dropped below Zero. These days (public transportation/Uber/Lift >>> more convenient than deal and pay(taxes, insurance, way overpriced gas and pain in the ass parking, etc.) for a chunk of metal that just stands there(most of the time). F.u.c.k. that!

I learned how to drive when I was 14. I have to drive almost an hour everyday just to get to school and back home.

Living in the countryside, used to drive 4-5 hours/day for work. Never had an accident (well, I did hit a mirror once, but it was intentional, the dude was driving in the middle of the road to avoid putting dirt on his beautiful SUV, and I was tired of changing my tires because I was the only one going offroad every time. My insurance covers mirrors broken by assholes in SUV, not punctured tires (^: )

I for some unknown reason to me do not drive and am avoidant of it. I suspect I am just afraid I'd accidentally kill an animal or scratch up the car because I don't think I could easily adjust to the size of the vehicle. Also I am near sighted so I can't read road signs till I am close enough I would bave to make quick actions and I feel almost dizzy with glasses on when it comes to motion so I am not sure how to remedy that.

Well...technically speaking I know how to drive a car, but I don't have a license, because I just can't get past the theoretical exam. I just can't memorize 1100+ questions, sorry! Yeah, I know other people can do it too, but I just can't. I'm learning since 2014 and I still fail the exam. Even though I don't drive too badly.

Nah, driving a car isn't very practical where I live. There are very limited parking spaces in this city, and if you do manage to get a parking space you'll be charged up the ass for it. We have the subway and a lot of things are within walking distance, so it isn't really needed in the end anyway.

I knew how to drive automatic when i was 13, but that's not really difficult.
Didn't learn how to drive stick until i turned 15. Where i live you can legally start driving at the age of 14, and it's practical to own a car rather young because everything is so spread out.

Yeah. I can drive pretty well. Got my license like 9 months ago, got a car and I drive to university everyday. Takes me about 15 minutes with traffic, a few minutes without. I like driving because it keeps my mind out of things. Combined with music, it's heavenly.

I cannot put my two arms in front of myself for more than 10 minutes without feeling back pain. There is no way for me to drive a car.

I'm disabled because of my back pain. I had to sell my upright piano because I can't play it anymore, and I can't type on a computer keyboard for very long either.

Both manual and automatic; I prefer one in some settings over the other. Not sure if I enjoy local driving, but do enjoy distance driving.

I don't have a driver's license and I hope I can keep it that way. I prefer to live in urban areas, so having a car would be a bother.

@Seiya I get the backpain hindrance, sometimes one pain can stop other mobility and for another person it is something they can get over. But ever? There are some modifications that are designed to help, though I can still see how starting that process is a hassle.

@Ezekiel@BallistikJuice
Do you happen to live in large cities, or just easier? Cars are a financial responsibility besides the obvious (driving w/o crashing) and its a hassle that grows by owning one(gas, insurance, taxes etc). I see them more useful, even if sitting, as metal options. They give you the ability to go with things. At a cost, but people will always pay to go.

@thatrpgdude I like vans (better if in this decade though) cause of the versatility they allow you. Need to go somewhere? A storage place? A fuck/hot box? Looking at homelessness?--atleast better than a small car or none.

Is it the drive itself or the people on the road while you drive? :)

I would find both options annoying. Also, you could have taken note of the registration plate and filled in a law suit. Actually, I wonder how the SUV driver could do that for that long, since he had likely had to have encountered other drivers as well.

btw.: was the duration that long for you because of distance only or also because of too many cars getting in your way? And how does the situation look nowadays?

Sometimes it's the people and a lot of the time its the road.. theres so much construction in my city its a pain in the ass to navigate also gas is really expensive here cause of the carbon tax that was recently implemented, parking is a nightmare downtown, then there's insaurance owning a car in general is just expensive...

Small cars are far easier and better to drive for me. The one I drive is complete trash as well. And vans are useless for me anyway since I only drive myself.

Nope. I never want to learn either. I could say it's because I care about the environment and want to do my bit to tackle climate change... but the truth is, I'm just too scared to drive and I never leave the house or need to go anywhere anyway.

Up until I had my car accident at 22.

In big cities/metro areas, I get by fine without a car. In highly spread-out rural areas, it's obviously rather shitty.

I learned how to drive when I was 14, normally on dirty roads driving a shitty manual 91' Toyota Corolla with no ABS. When I got my Driver's license in 2004, I baited my dad to buy an old 94' F350 to me and it worked out it was my first ever own vehicle and I still have it to haul stuff.

I have no fear of driving but I would be lying if I say that I would drive in India.

Automatic all the way, because it's more relaxed in the commute traffic, plus, you can much easier accelerate. It is good practice and useful to be able to drive manual as well, though. Only thing that works better in manual transmission is the start-stop automatic. In my father's car, you just have to set the clutch to neutral and the engine goes on again when it's shifted to first gear. But in my car, as soon as the car in front of me starts to roll again for a little, the engine starts. Which is why I always disable it.
