Very good episode. Will the GGO stuff have a big role in the story? I hope not because the new story arc looks far more interesting.

You... Uh... Probably shouldn't expect too much from Asuna and Kirito's relationship for a bit after this episode.

No. That stuff was all Anime Original Filler because the RATH sequence would take too long. You won't be seeing any more GGO.

Shinon is actually the only reason I still watch this anime, I also really liked Shinozaki Rika (Lisbeth) design.
I wonder if this season is going to be like season 1 and 2 where half is ok and the second half is trash

Either I'm forgetting something or the anime really skipped the explanation of Alicization's world setting. It's been quite a long time, but I still remember the feeling of sympathy and anger that I felt towards their situation when I was reading the prologue, up until Alice gets taken by the Integrity Knight. But that feeling was somehow gone when I watched the anime.

Yes, as anime-watcher only, this Alicization arc I think definitely is a new adventure story of sao especially Kirito because of the new world (Underworld), new setting & new characters...good bye Aincrad, Alfheim world & GGO....

Yeah episode 1 start really great but I shouldn't get too hype thought.
GGO fillers were good I like it.

RIP Kirito .

Asuna will get less screen time and is more adventuring with Kirito & Eugeo.
Search for Alice and become stronger.

First of all, that was a fucking nice OP but man that handshake between Kirito and Eugeo was even nicer lol, I love it

As for the episode, I totally forgot that it was going to be 1 hour long so I was pleased to see that since everything from the budget to the story has improved

Alice (Just might be best girl lol) and Eugeo are very likable (Personally I loved them) and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them as well as seeing how great their relationship with each other and Kirito is (Such a nice trio man TwT) and I really hoped that we could have spend the entire episode with them lol

The modern/real world/GGO stuff was pretty nice (Even though it made me miss the SAO:A anime lol) and I enjoyed seeing Asuna, Klein and Sinon again kicking ass together (Or attempting to kick ass is what I should say). But man that side story really made me appreciate GGO so much

But as for the meat of this episode, the stuff about this new Deep Dive tech is intriguing and scary as hell just based on the implications alone (And its even more evident since Kirito is losing weight even) and with the re-emergence of the Death Gun stuff + Laughing Coffin and that group of guys from GGO, I can already see that there's some deep plot going on beneath the surface and I'm honestly excited by it all

For once it feels like everything ever since S1 is going to come together and connect to something big and that excitement has me really hyped to see whats coming next (The OP got me hyped too lol)

Pretty good start to what I'm hoping to be a GREAT third season and as usual, I LOVE EVERY KIRITO x ASUNA MOMENT HNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG Man they are so cute together lol

That was fun. I don't think anyone can disagree that the punishment for breaking the taboo was overly harsh. I mean seriously? That was probably the point though.

The only thing I could really complain about is the episode length, every episode after this is gonna feel so short now.

They also adapted the chapters well but i really wanted to see the scene were alice and eugeo blushed at each other when he touched her hands :/ oh well.

So instead of actually trying to undertand the new world kirito was in you just blindly throw of hate on little things on already the first episode. Seems right, keep at it.

Oh boy, where to start. I am glad to see Kirito, Asuna and the whole gang back at it again. Now the first half was really interesting, I didn't expect them to just drop us into the "new" world from the get go.

Now the second half was quite good. Was nice to see everyone actually playing in GGO this time, with Asuna also using a Photon Sword like Kirito does. We got quite the information dump in this episode about new full dive technology and Raft. I will probably watch it back at some point to take all the information in again (it really was a lot imo).

From what I hear other people say is that this is suppose to be the best Arc in SAO. I have been looking forward to it since it got teased after the Ordinal Scale movie.

So the Death Gun incident was yet to be wrapped up... and now the bad guy actually shows up in front of Kirito and Asuna IRL. So the cliffhangers already start in Ep 1...

Show Kureho and Zeliska. Not give anyone their actual in-game outfits, smh.

Good job A-1.

No, unironically pretty good job, production values seem to be pretty high. Except for GGO fights those were crap.

Was that the girl from Ordinal Scale in the opening? Uuuhm why?

Irrupt said:

Well, literally everything from Kajiura always sounds exactly the same. It's more a you like it or not kind of thing.

And whether it fits the show or not, and Kajiura music isn't a good fit for sao imo.

One question before i leave my thoughts about this episode > Is SEASON 2's story PIVOTAL for Alicization? I never watched Season 2 and i never will. I don't care if a few characters are unkown to me at the start (for example the girl with the sniper) But if the story connects heavily with the one of season 2 then i guess i will have to drop Alicization.

Man... The first half was so nice. Beautiful world building, cool characters, good soundtrack and a decent plot start.

But then the second half began.. Uninteresting boring gun shooting shit with laser swords and Snipers... I dropped season 2 for a reason! I don't wanna see anymore of that shit!

The real life stuff was boring too. I just wished they would have completely focused on the new world from the start to the end. Fuck this real life thing and FUCK this other world with weapons EVEN MORE. I know its Sword Art Online, and the Fantasy Worlds are only 'Games' thats how this Show works, but it would be so much better if we only had this new World to focus on.

The production seemed decent. Glad the Dragon's weren't CG, a good chunk of movement in this episode too. The backgrounds (especially in the first half) were all amazing and the colors are very nice.

another thing. The guy at the end "johnny black" am I seriously supposed to remember that guy? apparently hes from season1's first arc.. I watched that years ago.. and now he just shows up in real life? dafuk..

I'll be keep on watching a few episodes, hopefully they concentrate on the new world and not the gun shit.

Well I got around to watching it. My first half of the episode wasn't that good in my opinion, they just threw these two random characters at us and expected us to care about them especially as Alice was taken away. I hope this show gets better with every episode, however im sure that there will be a few things in which cause me to not enjoy it, as the case was with both the First and Second series.

Saying that, it had a good ending and im somewhat anticipating the next episode, wbu guys?

Is nice to see some more SAO! I really miss this! This episode was awesome!

Fist half was really nice, nice to meet Alice and Eogeo, Alice is really cute, was painfull to watch Alice being taken because she trespass the line with one finger!

GGO part was really awesome, seeing them all with GGO outfits was really awesome, Asuna were perfect as always!

Looks like Kirito is in other case, all is in a mistery!

The moment between Asuna and Kirito in the real world was really sweet, i almost cryed watching tells her that he cant leave without her! And Asuna is the best girl for sure!

Last scene really let me with a real cliffhanger, poor Asuna in that moment! :(
I am too much hyped for next episode!

Art and Design are perfect for me, i loved it! All character are well drawn, principally Asuna and Alice! OP look awesome at the end!

10/10 for me! I would have said more, but i liked so much that i am without words!

Don't worry. GGO is pretty much unconnected with Alicization. The second half of this episode with the whole crew playing GGO was an anime original as well. And you're not expected to remember any of the Laughing Coffins members' names cause they weren't mentioned in the first place. Most of the Alicization arc is through Kirito's PoV in the Underworld and will sometimes jump back to the real world.

Kind of glad that the episode was around 48 minutes long and I enjoyed watching it for the most part. The first half really caught my attention, with the introduction to the vibrant colors of the scenery and the greatly improved animation quality. The battle scene in GGO really got my blood flowing and seeing Asuna being as badass as ever nearly made my heart explode of excitement.

Though after the first half, I found myself kind of zoning out when Kirito was explaining about his part-time job and I ended up going back in order to watch it again because I wasn't paying attention. Not to mention Asuna kind of giving me the shivers when she checked Kirito's heart pulse on her phone dear god.

I would say that Kirito is dead meat, but come on. This is the first episode for crying out loud. I'm sure if you have gotten to this point of watching SAO then you would surely know how much this guy has died and suddenly out of pure luck and his main character shield, he comes back to life like he didn't get stabbed, poisoned, or whatever ways he nearly got killed.

Nice start with this first episode, it was a clever choice to make a 1h first episode to let us with the cliffhanger.

As a reader of the LN I'm not disappointed with this start, they put an extra scene ( the ggo battle) that doesn't appear in the LN, but it was quite good. Also the animation has improved, its more lightly and clean ( i expect very good battle scenes this year A1 pictures e.e), but by the other hand i have the feeling that the scenes where characters express his feelings aren't that good.

But in general is well done, i have very high expectations!

Watching other (terrible) VRMMO anime has made me appreciate SAO even more. I've read this is the best arc and have huge expectations about it.
My only regret is that Sachi is (still) dead and they'll probably drop her death's scene to reopen my wounds again.

To be honest, I gotta say, I'm positively surprised by the new direction they are taking the show in. A-1 is obviously bringing their A-game here (lol), with beautiful animations and crisp colors.

The first half was super intriguing. Didn't understand sh*t at first but things slowly began making more and more sense towards the end. Can't wait to figure out how Underworld works, and what's up with those Knights O.o

The second half was... well, a little less intriguing. Never really cared much for GGO, but from what I've heard, it won't really be a big focus in this season so I'm not too worried about that. The whole "Kirito getting stabbed" thing is kind of lame tbh (we all know this nibba ain't gonna die), but I guess we'll see where it goes.

So yeah, I'm interested. Can't wait to see where they take it.

I like Fantasy worlds, so I'm already digging this Underworld. So from what I got you live out an entirely new life in this "game" with memories from this world only, that's a cool thing tbh.

The info dump was kinda annoying but oh well, I see that laughing coffin are as annoying as ever. The animation and art were spectacular, I wonder how well they can keep it for 50 episodes.

Overall not a bad start, people are telling me that this is the best SAO content yet so let's see if that's true.

Also, Lisa is back at it with the SAO openings!
