You are missing out though. The reason why she looks like a fox (it's a wolf btw. just saying) is because that's her form as a god of harvesting. The stories are usually solid, the romance is well done, the conversations are great and witty... In general the whole journey and flair is amazing and even if you don't like economics (like me) it feels very refreshing.

Why? I've only read the first 9 volumes (I was waiting for 17 to come out), but was the way it ended something that needed a continuation? I'm always up for more Lawrence and Holo but I didn't think it was needed.

Damn it, at first I thought it was for the Anime and had my eyes wide open. Hopefully this increases the chances of a new Anime being made as unlikely as it may sound.

Is it a 18th volume or a full sequel? Good news nonetheless. Was pretty happy with how the 17th volume ended though

I don't see why they would do this. The LN ended perfectly.

Yen Press killed translations and Brains Base killed the sequel with its crappy work. Even though I loved the first series I actually feel rather indifferent about the news. It's not like I'll be able to read it and I doubt there will be another season for the anime. Sequel done by the people and the studio from the first season, that would be great news...

How did they kill the translations? I'm actually kinda sad if this is true and you got proof since I bought all the Volumes except for the final few that I'm waiting for release.

I dunno how to feel about this.

On one hand I absolutely love SaW and it's one of my favorite series. On the other, I thought the 17th novel ended pretty poignantly.

Really hope it

I don't know how the books end because I'm at vol 10 too. But I don't think he would have waited 5 years to come out with a sequel if the final volume didn't have at least a satisfying if not a conclusive ending. I think this sequel is most likely going to be one of the standalone "Side Colors" side story volumes.

The final volume was more than satisfying. A very happy ending type of satisfying, so it confuses me if it truly is a sequel to the main cast...

Recently bought and read the first 3 volumes of the Light Novels as well; currently halfway through the fourth one. This must be some kind of fate.

If it's being released in Dengeki Bunko Magazine then it's going to be a collection of side stories. I hope this means we'll get more anime since Durarara got more anime after LN sequel series was announced.

The Spice & Wolf anime already covered Vol 1-3 & 5. There are 9 volumes of the main story (Vol 4, 6, 8-10, 12, 14-16) and 4 volumes of side stories (Vol 7, 11, 13, 17) that haven't been covered by the anime. The manga covers LN Vol 1-2, 4, 8-9, 14-16.

If they decide to make more anime then most likely they will need to cover Vol 8-9 & 14-16 since they are very important. Vol 4, 6, 10, 12 are optional and they might not cover Vol 7, 11, 13 and most of 17. I hope they will also cover the epilogue story of Holo and Lawrence in Vol 17. It will need at least 2 cours but if we're lucky we might get 3 cours covering the rest of all the main story volumes like Durarara.

It's not considered "milking" when it's a show that the average person likes! That claim is only made with the continuation of a popular moe, fujoshi, or idol series.

A sad double standard that speaks volumes (I'll be here all night) about naysayers.

Ugh that sux might wait abit longer and see if it gets a 3rd season then.

The second season ends fine. Their status as a couple upgrades and they continue on their journey. No cliffhanger as far as I can see.

I would love a 3rd anime season (I own almost all of the Light Novels) but I think it is pretty unlikely.

Yeah seriously, hopefully this new light novel triggers some interest and they finally make a season 3. Or I might actually just read the LN to find out wth happens.

Judging by the announcement, it will be a monthly published content. Which means short stories. That may or may not make something big enough to be published in a volume afterwards.
There was that small story included with the spice & wolf artbook that was also happening after the end of volume 17 so that won't be the first short story we'll get.

So at worst no new volume,at best probably one volume, similar to the "side colours" volume 1,2,3 and the volume 17.

It's just a nice way to thanks the fans for the 10th year anniversary rather than a commercial milking or anything. Rather than really continuing a story that already ended, we may see how those characters are doing in their life after this, similar to volume 17 content. Which is nice in itself.

Besides, I kind of want to see

Paulo27 said:

You don't milk something that didn't have great sales to begin with. Especially not with just releasing a few side stories as a thanks for the fan and a celebration for the 10th anniversary.

Too bad it's just light novel for now. But I have a good feeling we may be getting another season. At the very least, I think this news gives more confidence for season 3.

I doubt it. Brain base decided to skip completely one volume, which introduced a character that will be important at one point in the story. Even if they do a s3, this will have to stop before the character comes back anyway, so no proper ending even with a S3 (the only win for anime watchers only will be that it doesn't end on a cliffhanger anymore)

Volume 17 has been fantranslated since 2012 or something.

Sales of what? The actual anime sold 9k for season 1 and 5k for season 2. There was a re-release where they produced a bluray version for both seasons that generated another 9k sales in total for both seasons. Not bad sales but not fantastic.

I'm not sure what sort of bump there was for the light novels but we managed to get 17 volumes which is pretty good really.

Well a sequel for the novel. Not that it really needed one but to It is still MOST WELCOME.

Not have a third made many having to read the Light Novel (including myself) so I would say that the anime did it's job in promoting the LN.

I sure hope that its the same illustrator for the sequel and there isn't much change in the setting, characters or even time line. Yes....i love the series as it is in terms of its plot and story telling. So a side story is a good thing but nothing like what happened for Hidan no Aria with double A.
