Dat piglet <33

I think Hachiken is getting used to his farm live now. Decent episode again. I got some nostologia from this episode for some reason. Oh God, poor Hachiken. I couldn't help but laugh at the scenes when he ran like crazy with those food.

I just love the way Mikage rides that horse though. The ending made me hungry as usual ;.; I want to grab into the screen and reach that food..

That baby was cute.

It was a thought-provoking episode. They didn't go dogmatic. Instead they let the viewers take it as it was. I liked the execution.

As expected Pork Bowl is now Pork Bowl....
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

"Take responsibility", hehe. Aand that's how rumours get started. lol @ Mikage's reaction

Thought provoking indeed, betrayed my expectations every step of the way. When he said he was gonna buy the pig I thought he wanted to keep him as a pet, just like the teacher said. Then when he said he wanted to buy the meat I thought he was gonna do something sappy like bury it. But he really has learned a lot. I guess when given the choice of giving his beloved pig a respectful send-off and turning him into food he chose the "Why can't we do both?" option.

Also, that scream at the end (ぐあー!甘じょっぺー!), was that Hachiken's voice? If it was, then apparently he has gone full-on native, even to the point of adopting the dialect :)

Execution of this episode was brilliant. I like that it showed how much Hachiken has grown and how the other students have as well. I like that it took a path different from what you would expect. It's so nice to see how they're all always there for each other even if it's to get food or start random misunderstandings (cough Tokiwa cough).
Can I just have the OST now please? Because the main piano piece was super beautiful and I need it.
And as always the food. It's torture for the food to look this good. And that there's a screen separating me from it D:

I shed a few tears when Hachiken remembered how small Pork Bowl used to be, and then how he thought that the animals had such short lives. It was pretty sad too when he was cleaning up the empty pen by himself. I like how he even went to watch the slaughterhouse video, he's really developed quite a lot since the beginning. He bought Pork Bowl as the meat and even prepared it by himself, he's got a lot of resolve. Great episode!

One thing that has always stuck with me from being raised on a farm is that you don't waste meat. That steak in the freezer was once Frisky the calf out in the pasture. On a small farm you get to know your animals and their personalities. It's important to remember just what went into that meal you eat. Hachiken found a way to honour Pork Bowl without just thinking of him as a product.

But the highlight definitely was "I'm going to have a bump soon. Take responsibility for it..."
Please don't feed the trolls!

Another really nicely adapted ep.

Lol'd at the first part with the misunderstanding XD

I'm really liking Yoshino more than I remember in the manga. And Aki dropping the duster ;)

More and more development for Hachiken ^^

Again Buddha sensei and his cheese XD.

That end was indeed drool inducing.

Nxt ep last ep of the season. Can't wait for nxt season.

I always liked Yoshino. Now her anime version is extra adorable.

What I like about Silver Spoon is that it's not preachy at all. It shows that, despite killing, farmers have a great respect for the animals. It's always easier to be a vegetarian or a vegan if you grow up in the city and without all the harships of the rural life.

The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.

R.I.P. Pork Bowl. I really thought Hachiken wants to keep him as a pet by buying Pork Bowl. Great twist for buying the meat instead and sharing it with others.

And that end! I always like seeing their group eating together especially if the food was raised or cooked with a lot of effort. Makes the food much more better :)

What a cute episode, nice to see everyone enjoing their pork bowl. Also the rumors part was funny, I liked Mikage's reaction.

Anyway, im surprised with how cheap is a kg of pork meat. Almost half of how much it cost where I live.

The slaughterhouse scene was pretty heavy, especially Aikawa's reaction. And Hachiken tearing up before he ate Pork Bowl..like he said, bittersweet. His development really is handled so well.

So the show built the drama between Hachiken and Pork Bowl for many episodes, and in the last moment... it delivered. Good drama, I liked it.

That comedy bit in the beginning was pretty cliché, though.

I really got the feels when they showed the flashbacks. Really craving pork right about now.

I wonder how that smoked cheese tasted.

Next episode is the last for season 1, and then half a year wait until season two...but it'll be worth it.

It really depends on how far it needs to travel, on top of the quality of meat when raising it. It would have been even cheaper if Hachiken didn't give Pork Bowl extra attention with liquid feed. Pretty sure it would have cost more if Hachiken was still living in the city.

It was sad during the 1st half when Pork-Bowl was being sent away, and I'm surprised that I'm touched during those scenes. Then they began to eat it in the ending scene XD.

Well I was laughing in the beginning when the rumors began to spread between Hachiken and Yoshino XD.

This was one emotional episode. Who would have thought I would have all these feelings just from a pig. Pork Bowl! ;_; It was great that Hachiken bought Pork Bowl himself. Watching the slaughterhouse video must have been quite hard for Hachiken and Aikawa. I really like how Hachiken has matured so much ever since he he first came to the agriculture school. The misunderstandings in this anime is always hilarious. I actually like Hachiken x Yoshino but Hachiken x Mikage is already set in stone. xD

Yeah, this a big part of why she's always been one of my favorite characters in this series in spite of her low amount of screen time.

But I also really like her personality, even I do feel sorry for that teacher from time to time ;)

Or anywhere, not surprised it appearing in animation since the Japanese really truly love their food.

Though I would say that the context of the other animation is SLIGHTLY different :-)
