Lmao, the first minute of this epsiode look like something out of a bloodbath horror movie.

Looks like the episode features Ranko and her special birthday event. One thing they need to worry about is money, something that any business should be wary of. Happy Birthday to Ranko though! Cake is normal but it has a special meaning to them, especially Ranko.

This episode shared a lot of similarities with horror movies, in that it was very stupid. With the stunts they pulled in Episode 1, I do think they've toned down the insanity quite a bit, and without that, it leaves a bit to be desired. That said, I still liked the episode in all its stupidity, especially all the Ranko moments, and her birthday celebration.

Okachimachi stole the money from the Sheep cafe too, perhaps he/she saved the cafe! If there are no repercussions that is...

well this seemed to be the kick starter to the end of the episodic segment. at least to some degree.

the episode itself was hilarious and heartful, but I am mostly excited to see what happens as a result of it.

it is obvious enough that what they did isn't going to just slide like nothing happened, and with the already hinting at a backstory, I think the second half of the show will be a lot more plot driven.

If there's one thing they aren't holding back in, that's the insanely absurd stories episode after episode. Like just imagine getting drowned in a large tub full of tomato juice lol.

So not only Ranko is capable of wiping out an entire cafe. Her battle comrades, I mean, fellow maids, are only slightly worse in this department.
This honestly looks more and more like Postal 2 game with maids :D
And I love every bit of it.

Happy birthday to best girl ranko-san! Just when you think this show can’t get any wackier it does lol.

Killing other people that have the same birthday as you is definitely one of the wildest plot points I’ve seen.

The fight against the sheep girl had me dying man and Ranko’s concert to top things off was perfect. Love how she kept her deadpan even when singing.

Hopefully we start getting a more consistent overarching story after this though!

My girl Ranko turned 36, congratz. I'm happy she got a birthday party. Other than that crazy episode as usual and Ranko wishing that bitch happy birthday gave me a good laugh. Also the ED song by Ranko was lit.

Happy birthday Ranko! =D

It was almost a day that ended badly for her and Nagomi after their attempt to get people at the sheep cafe to go and celebrate Ranko's birthday. Since her birthday is the same as the blonde sheep maid, they captured our duo and placed then in a big barrel, tied up to a chair and chain ball and proceeded to drown them with an onslaught of tomato juice with a young sheep thrown in as a bonus.

Meanwhile, I didn't expect the manager herself to wear the maid outfit, but honestly, she actually looks good wearing it! XD

Thankfully, the other maids of Ton Tokoton took note of Panda's hints and made their way to rescue Nagomi and Ranko, killing all the other sheep maids in the process.

Overall, this was a pretty fun episode. Not only did we get a special ED with Ranko, but we also had a nice moment with a flashback of a bit of her past, where she used to hate violence when she was younger and still new to working as a maid in Akiba. Hopefully we'll get more snippets of her past in the later episodes.

Another day at the Oinky Doink Café, and the debts rack up because of the senseless manager. So, how to earn money? By holding a birthday party, and Ranko's turning 36 in 2 days. But not everyone is optimistic for the birthday event, and Nagomi is practically abandoned by everyone.

So, Nagomi seeks help from a sister café Maid Sheep, which the cafe itself is also short-staffed, and that Kaoruko also shares the same birthday date as Ranko. All formalities aside, it becomes clear that even within the same organization, they're practically rivals as well, enough to make one swine too many.

But this is Akibahara, and a maid turf war to be precise, and both Nagomi and Ranko are thrown in a barrel full of tomato juice, plus a sheep as a courtesy dying gift. Suffice to say that Ranko was looking forward to her birthday celebration, and she couldn't be anymore greater being hired at Oinky Doink. Okachimachi was just nice to witness what happened, and it's payback time to save both Nagomi and Ranko together.

Okachimachi, you're the MVP to ensure that Ranko gets her wish.
Happy Birthday, 36-year-old Ranko! With your special ED for a present.

Something tells me, that Ranko's true goal is to completely dismantle the crime syndicate and that Organisation pulling the strings. They already wipes out like three Cafees and I don't believe it wasn't planned.

5 episodes in, and I'm still not bored of the whole maid gang schtick. They still keep it fresh every episode despite following the same episodic formula.

Man, I wonder how long ranko has been in the slammer. The flyer with the faded ink is such a subtle detail of the cafe's poverty but so funny to me.

LOL. If you fail to see the most obvious reason for Yumechi and the others to act like that (an obvious surprise party) no wonder you think everything is bad without further explanation about actual important stuff, like storyboarding, character writing, or the proper use of absurd humor on a dark comedy.

Ahora a esperar otra semana.

Do people actually do that when planning a surprise party? What is their train of thought?

But yeah, it's not like 4 out of the 5 episodes released conclude in the exact same way and that the mix between violence and dark humor is awfully executed. The show has been incredibly uninteresting so far but at least it seems the story will finally find a sense of direction now that the girls have "attacked" their own territory.

I think this episode was a step down from last week, and they still have yet to recapture the sheer insanity of either episode 1 or the OP, but I liked this episode. it was a bit slow and not as out-there, but it had heart and the characters feel like they're being fleshed out more, if only slightly

Damn, Sheep cafe events are really cut throat! Imagine not wanting to share a birthday! Insane!

Oh ... and evil Bond villain like plan! And she tossed the little lamb in too! Why? What did the lamb do that was wrong? Poor lamb!! Baaa ...!!! Did they keep little lamb at the end? Or ??? I mean sheep cafe is basically dead by now.

I can't believe Ranko was actually trying to DRINK the liquid to save our heroine maid!??

Other maids to the rescue! It's a bloodbath but all "off screen" dammit, I wanted to see the other maids in action! Now I'll just have to imagine it.

This is becoming one of my favorite animes of the season. I really felt bad for Ranko at first and was disappointed that the other girls, besides Nagomi, seemed to dismiss her birthday. That feeling got worse when they went to their supposed "sister" cafe and ended getting kidnapped by the crazy sheep maid girls, but once the panda witnessed what happened and seeing the cake delivered made me feel so much better.

Although the girls have their own distinct personality it's great to see them helping each other and the cafe, even the manager went out of her way. I hope that they pay a big part of their debt with the money that was "recovered" and that they don't face consequences for stealing it and for taking out that cafe. Lastly, the celebration of Ranko's birthday was great to see, even with a piece of cake missing since the manager checked it for poison lol.

Agreed! I felt bad in the first half of the show but was relieved that it was just an act. Panda has been a helping hand a few times, besides in this episode there was an earlier episode where he yanked a gas line open that caused the casino to explode after Ranko threw a grenade (or some type of explosive).

First of all, it's pretty much an american sitcom trope of acting cold towards the birthday guy or girl in order to create a bigger impact with the actual surprise. Don't expect it to work exactly the same way in real life (but that doesn't stop from people imitating art). Like for real, it baffles me that you can't understand such a simple concept on your own.

Secondly. How is it awfully executed? What's wrong with how these sociopathic maids that mark their own territory creating a fake gentle facade towards their customers, but act in all murderous vibe against our heroines. It's no different than something like Sweeny Todd. Sounds to me that you're grasping straws in order to yell hurr durr bad animu

Godbless this fucking show.

With how Ranko was when she was but a young maid, I am going to be disappointed if Nagomi doesn't become a murder machine by the end of this lmao.

Damn, what did Ranko do to end up in the slammer, I am sure that's gonna come up again later and of course more of her backstory.

Man, I feel bad for Nagomi, but she's just really hilarious as well lmao, it's hard not to laugh at her freakouts.

Kaoruko randomly holding a sheep was already hilarious, but I lost it when she threw it.

Let's fucking go! That Ranko ED was great. Rest In Peace to Tenchou though, just as Maid Sheep had Rest In Peace.

Absolutely based song by Ranko at the end there. if masters were present at that time then everyone could have seen the charms of our best maid Ranko. She's just a level above everyone else.

This was the best episode till now just because of Ranko's dance and song at the end.

The Chin chin joke though and Nagomi admitting she's curious haha.

I laughed a lot this episode.

With what happened. It was implied that Sheep was gonna be wiped. The only thing I didn't like is they didn't headshot that bitch maid.

Chief eating some of the cake is just like her.

Fortunately they even got some money to at least pay off their current month's debt or whatever.

5/5 episode. Ranko's dance and song made my day.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

Jesus, the insanity in this episode is off the charts. I'm sure it's only ramping up from here.

Absolutely adore Nagomi's willingness to give Ranko a proper celebration. Even if it wasn't gonna turn out well, it's the gesture that counts. Little bit of backstory for Ranko-chan with her previous life at a Maid Teahouse, where we get to see her old boss who passed away in the first episode. And it looks like Nagomi found her resolve towards her cafe.

Too bad we didn't get to see the bloodbath that ensued during their rescue, but seeing the head sheep get her just deserts was good enough. And with Maid Sheep annihilated as casually reported by Zoya—judging by Tenchou's blank reaction, which then turned gloom and doom on the table in the background, there might be some heavy repercussions for the coming episode.

Also, Ranko singing and dancing to her own number for her special birthday episode's ending song is everything!! Lastly, Tenchou in a maid outfit posing as Ranko, she couldn't be more out of place lmao.

An overall chaotic, yet pleasant and feel-good in the end episode. Can't wait to see more.
