Yikes, losing something important like a police ID is no joke. This episode had tension in terms of its usual drama for the story.

This was also an episode where Kawai suffers some mental anxiety after what she witnesses on the job. Being a police officer is serious business for anyone.

Lesson learned if you work for the police don't lose your badge.
Things worked out ok for the tho.

The second part was pretty much about the harsh reality of working for the police or any other emergency service, you will encounter things that you don't want to encounter and death children is one of them.
It's sad and not everyone can deal with those situations, honestly people working with emergency services who deal with these things every day deserve a lot of respect.

Welp, losing your police badge/ID is just as scary, as proven by the Astro Brothers Minamoto and Yamada. But man, Yamada is really in trouble BIG TIME.

Losing your ID in the line of work, where your esteemed colleague Minamoto is much requested, it's unkempt that this kind of incident will keep happening if one eye is closed, and everyone in Machiyama is mobilized to find for Yamada's ID, regardless of position and the usual patrol work. The ladies handling the same old woman Saito, and Fuji sure knows how to use psychology to win her usual suspects...and lo and behold, thankfully, it's nearby her place. Getting judo-ed by your lieutenant 100 times is a punishment worse than seppuku, haha.

Normal people sure like to give police a bit of trauma, as such with giving up licenses when accidents happen that fits within the line of Traffic Control Division under Sgt. Miyahara. The fatal accident of 3 cars with a baby's loss of life, that can be a police officer's worst nightmare to experience trauma like that, not realizing the severity. That's why child seats are just as important in traffic safety, and while Miyahara can stomach these kinds of things, Kawai took it too personally as she didn't experience something like this before.

It's people like Miyahara that traffic safety has aways to go, and they are the first line of defense in governing traffic. Always have appreciation for traffic cops.

Losing an I. D . is scary if you are Yamada and he has to find it or you get fired. Saito is definitely an interesting character and I’m glad she had the I.D instead of a criminal. Yamada definitely will fill those throws for the rest of his life.

Being a police officer is mentally draining and takes a lot of strength to get over tragedy’s that happen so often to then. It sucks that happens in todays worlds and it is important to show this and shows that it’s not something to take lightly. Police deserve so much respect for doing everything they can.

I really didn't liked the first half of this episode, have a horrible message. Now the old lady is cool even being certainly an attention seeking asshole? "Hey, I found a Police ID just outside a police station, should I return normally? Nah, let's misuse a little for my pleasure."

To be honest I wanted to see that car accident investigation. Like was a PSA for child car seat, or elderly is danger driving? The strange part is no one around the baby.

When they say "Astro Brothers" it reminds me of "Space Brothers", in fact, they're kinda look-alike, haha.

This is the first time I see Miyahara, the traffic control sgt. He's hot! And he look best in his working uniform.

This episode is such a Yin and Yang in the first half and second half. But this anime is probably the only anime in recent seasons that impact my daily life routine, now I'm gonna be more mindful when driving.

Even as a part of police force you don't want to witness something like that, and more so being a novice or newly recruited ones. Experiencing trauma is a given. Though liked how they handled things with Mai in the second half.

This show has been surprisingly good so far. Never really know what to expect from each episode. part one of an episode they might have you laughing along, the next you might be horrified, and the next episode maybe you get emotional.

The first half involved Yamada loosing his police ID which happened to fall into old lady Saito's hands. I don't understand why she held on to it when she found it outside of the police station. Luckily, Fuji was able to convince her to hand it over, but Yamada ended up getting punished by the lieutenant with 100 judo throws. In the second half things took a turn for the worst when Fuji and Kawai had to respond to a major traffic accident that resulted in the death of a baby. This traumatic experience has scarred Kawai for the rest of her life and it took a while for her to get over it after a pep talk from Sgt. Miyahara of the Traffic Control Division who sees these types of incidents on a regular basis.

The one thing the academy can't teach you is how to deal with the loss of life. It's apart of the job as a emergency responder.

Great episode! Yamada was crying because he lost his police ID xD. The full police were ordered to be discreet in searching for the police ID. Saito also really wants to see Minamoto as usual lol. Fuji pretends she has an older sister in order for her to talk to her though xD. Yamada found his ID as Saito found it on the road. The irony between the oldish man turning in his license and then an even older man trying to renew it at the police station was funny lol.

And a baby got run over lol. Mai got pretty sad over that for some reason xD.

Looking forward to the next episode!

I forgot that they had police ID like that, true that it's very annoying if you lose it and that it's used by someone ill-intentioned...
I understand Kawai though, seeing a corpse of a deceased baby because of a car crash is very shocking, I hope I won't see that IRL I would be shocked the same

This series has done episodes where the first half was light-hearted and the second half got very serious, but this episode took that formula and went much further into the serious direction than I expected it to.

Before that, I did like the first half, where Yamada lost his Police I.D badge and was brought out in front of everyone, many coming in on their days off, just so they can help find his badge before it falls into the wrong hands. Thankfully, one of the ladies who pesters Yamada's colleague, Minamoto, with many calls, was the one who found his I.D badge and was calling the station ever since. For once, she's done a good thing. =)

Now we come to the second half of the episode and things got VERY dark. Kawai and Fuji arrived at what seemed like an unfortunate three car accident at a busy intersection, but Fuji was mortified to spot a tragic fatally in the form of a baby.

I can't blame Kawai from having this trauma effect her this badly, but thanks to traffic cop Miyahara giving her a took pep talk, she was able to regain her senses and her eyes regain colour, too. I can't blame her for having a big appetite after not eating much since that traumatic accident.

This episode was great, overall. While the first half was amusing as usual, the second half is a harsh reminder that you can't have an easy day all of the time. Once in a while, working in a profession like the police or other emergency services, you will come across a tragic incident like this sooner or later and I wouldn't blame anyone whose perspective of life changes if they witness something tragic like what we saw in this episode. It's all the more important to take every day for granted.

The way things set up at the beginning of the first part made me think Yamada had lost his gun, like some other cop in Ichi the Killer.
Now that would've been a major screw up worth atoning through harakiri.

This episode was another example of a good mix of comedy and seriousness, the first half being the more comedic one when Yamada loses his ID which is one of the worst things you can do as an officer based on how he was taking it lol, you also become the errand boy too, but thankfully Saito, who is usually a nuisance, was holding onto it and trying to return it.

The 2nd half is where things get serious again, leading off lightheartedly with Sgt. Miyahara overhearing Kawai’s badmouthing, to Kawai becoming traumatized from dealing with a fatal car accident, and I’ll say I immediately knew it was a baby the second Fuji was distressed, and man Kawai once again had it very rough for a whole week due to it, but thanks to Sgt. Miyahara’s speech, she got the glow in her eyes back and immediately began chowing down on instant ramen lol, and I did really like what he said to. Sure maybe Kawai should have went to therapy after that, but I do like this outcome too, and I’m glad to see she didn’t quit.

Wasn’t the best episode, but it was ok. The lost ID didn’t really go anywhere and the traffic moral lesson didn’t feel natural since Kawai’s gripes against them didn’t make a lot of sense in the first place. I chuckled a few times though.

Well done Miyahara, Kawai needed that - as well as Fuji - after such a sad and traumatic event.

Fuji recently has seen the - among others - dead body of the elderly man, the attempted hanging and now this, you can see how jaded the Police can get and desensitised by it all

Holy fucking shit, that tone shift hit me like a truck. That's definitely the heaviest we've ever gotten so far. They really get you when you least expect it, it's honestly amazing.

Here I am enjoying Yamada's lost ID, that totally not gay for Fuji lady and Kawai being caught in 4k, then suddenly, bam, intense depression.

Sgt. Miyahara's monologue to Kawai was fucking great.

That was not the message, though. She didn't even bother Minamoto at all during the incident, she only wanted to return it discreetly, exactly as she said.

Damn, finally they touch the traffic accident with fatal victim, not to mention its also a baby. Its about time. Imo, they should've shown this on an early episode, because the traffic case for me kinda be the most wanted topic to be expose for the police sol theme like this, especially for the patrol police pod like Kawai and Fuji. So its actually surprising how they insert this case now.

Anyway, the pattern still the same like previously. Comedy relief first at the beginning section, and they hit it more seriously with Kawai trauma over those traffic accident. Well, even if its sounds pretty serious, as how its might affect those redheaded whole career as a good police. But how they portray it still as funny as i need xD. And of its Fuji again whose solving the mystery, just what i needed too!

I'm so tired of these old hags calling all the time for Minamoto. Can't Japanese police just arrest them for interfering with police daily work or something?

As for the second half, it sure was somewhat more interesting but it felt totally off after such ridiculous first half. Tonal shifts aren't this show's strongest point, I must say,

First half:
A foolish act of carelessness that absolutely cannot be ignored. Someone could use stolen police ID for nefarious purposes, but the fact police searching for it would certainly damage their reputation of news got out. Points for Saito always wanting to see Minamoto.

Second half:
Things took a dark turn, but it's the things police have got to be prepared for. The mobile traffic unit commander tells Kawai that she's the normal one, and it's the cops like him and Fuji who are messed up to just go on whenever they see a corpse.
Kawai's losing appetite and sleep just thinking about it. At the same time, she's more serious about traffic safety, not turning a blind eye to a mother and her unseated child in case the tragedy happens again.

Wow Saito san saved the Yamada. She deserves the hug from Minamoto lol.
On the other hand,  witnessing a heartbreaking scene is unavoidable as police officer and I think it's normal for Kawai to feel tramautized.

Kind of reminds me of this incident that I encountered at work. It was so heartbreaking yet, there are things that we can't control and we can't do much but to hope for the best for the family and try to move on and become stronger.
