| Is this a bait post? Berserk whole initial shtick is that is brutal as hell while GS world is unforgiving at best. It's like comparing a cup of spicy instand noodles from a store with a oni (the maximum level of spicyness on some restaurants) level ramen from Japan itself, a dish so powerful that can kill foreigners without even reaching their tonges |

| I haven’t read the manga for Berserk, but going off what a number of people I know who have read it have said compared with what I’ve seen of the anime, Berserker is far darker. I don’t know the details or reasoning, but I remember one of them telling me one scene in the manga has children getting slaughtered and apparently that’s even the darkest scene |

| Berserk is by far darker. Goblin Slayer is like a teenage goth playing dress up. I mean aside from that disturbing rape scene in the first episode, everything is typical. They even threw in that bullshit no drowning, burning, or whatever rule to give a weak excuse for being typical. |

Horror and gore was my favorite thing to watch on tv when i was little. Like Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Children of the Corn, etc. were all my favorite movies. Why shouldn't they do stuff like that? it's awesome. I wish they still did stuff like that.. it's gotten extremely tame in comparison to what it used to be like.. At most we got like.. Because the Witcher 3 covers its darker subject material with depth, restraint, and most of all not for the sole purpose of shocking the viewer and characters that have to go through truly horrible things are built up so you give a shit about their struggle. Goblin slayer is the opposite of that, it goes "THis person has a tragic backstory you should feel bad and side with them for them" < Only reason to give a shit about goblin slayer. "These nameless fodder character were raped you should feel bad for them and hate every member of the race that raped them." <Episode one. "This random nameless elf girl was raped and tortured you should feel bad for her and hate the goblins more." ^ The viewer is never really given a reason to hate the goblins or invest in the characters that they harm because these characters are never meaningfully built up. And these horrible acts never really serve to enhance the story other than making it dark for the sake of being dark < Which is just edgy. Filling a story with needless hardships and horror isn't dark, it's not mature, it's just edgy at best and pandering to people with a torture porn stiffy at worst. |
