Nothing in this life interests me anymore. The only reason I am alive is because of anime.

No friends, no gf/bf and even family members don't care about you. But you keep on living in the hope that the current scenario will get better. Does it get any better though? Does it?
If it doesn't then you need not worry 'cause anime is our escape from reality.
^
Ever felt like this? If yes, then what will happen if all anime shows magically disappear from this world? What will you do then?
If no, then why are you watching anime? You got a wonderful life, so don't waste it by watching Japanese animation. Do stuff that normal people do!

Watching anime is not fun anymore. Well, more like killing time for me. Even it is disappeared, looks like it doesn't matter.

There was a time when I too loved Western series and I would waste my time watching shows like Doctor Who, Breaking Bad, Dexter, etc. Unbeknownst to me, there was a divine realm (called anime) still waiting to be explored by me. And when I explored that realm, it captivated my soul and trapped me inside forever. I dropped all those Western series that I was watching and diverted my attention over to that realm. I transformed from a newbie to an otaku.

It is actually the same scenario for me but replace anime with music. I can just sit around all day listening to music and never do a thing. Although I only do that in weeks intervals, I don't think my life all that bad generally. So no, I haven't fallen that deep.

Definitly felt like it at some point and anime definitly saved me cause I wanted to escape reality. But as I grew older (lol I'm only 17 wtf am I saying) I realized that irl relation ship are way more worth it than anime. Still I consider myself half-weeb I guess, but the Japan culture in general is a true passion and I've been studying Japanese to go live there one day. Long story short, anime is good.

Make my own anime. (Though technically, I guess I'd have to move to Japan first. heh.)

Music is my life, and it's pretty much always been that way.

I listen to far too much music, to the extent that it interferes with my anime-watching goals.

While my depression has become somewhat manageable and I've going to therapy for a couple of years, I will admit that I have used anime and games as a means to escape reality in the past, before it eventually was suggested to me that I start going to therapy.

Even with anti-depressants, I still have days that are feel 'blah', but I find ways to get through them somehow. Though I focus on music, gaming, and to lesser extent these days, anime, I volunteer on the weekends and I'm taking steps to lessen my social anxiety by talking to people IRL when possible.

Probably leaving a lot of details, but what I think you could do is not let anime be the sole focus of your life. Try stepping outside and meeting up with friends.. or if you don't have any, try to make some new ones. Watch Bob Ross or videos that might inspire you to create or bring something positive into your life.. or maybe even try and learn something new everyday.

One big piece of advice is, while you may be anxious about it or deadset against it, try finding a therapist or psychologist in your local area that you can open up to about your troubles and anxieties.

Well my little hobbies are what keep me occupied and sane, but I've probably done more escapism than is healthy.
Relying on one one thing when depressed will eventually cause you to loose interest in that as well, so try branching out and forcing yourself to do other things, and find others to share in your hobbies before its too late.

I can see you

My name is Not Important; what is important is what I'm going to do. I just fucking hate this world, and the human worms feasting on its carcass. My whole life is just cold, bitter hatred, and I always wanted to die violently. This is the time of vengeance, and no life is worth saving, and I will put in the grave as many as I can. It's time for me to kill and it's time for me to die; my genocide crusade begins... here!

Well I was in your state once, when I had nothing more than Music (tho I think music is more mentally healthy and less degenerative than Anime) but I guess I eventually found that things got better when I decided to take things into my own hand and tried improving my overall life, it gets better but the road is still filled with annoying pains.

That's really sad... i don't think anime is the ultimate therapy for depression or "flat days" (I've no depression, though my best friend has it. I'll never know and understand entirely bc its something really serious tbh, but i try to help him as much as I can). The reason I say this, is bc 1/3 of the anime i finish I get an "Anime Post-Depression", which in a manner it's not healthy at all with fragile mental health. Okay, you can start another one and try to avoid thinking about the end and the story of the previous one but in a long way it becomes a never end circle.

As many others said, the rl is the real therapy. But you need to get help from a therapyst first. He will guide in your "Isekai" adventure, to understand, and deal most of the time with yourself. As many stories from anime and manga series, the true "boss" is yourself.

Music is fine, it's healthy so don't put it a part. But anime can not become your cornerstone on your life at all.

For example, i never come in to drama shows when I'm getting through a hard time bc i tend to fall in a "emotional pit stage". I only watch them when I'm very busy in a day to day, like going to the University or the lab, and later meet a couple of friends. And the next day so on. Thus let you cope with your "Shit what i'm gonna do with my life now" feel.

Try to understand yourself, and make a daily basis partition of your anime genre according with your emotional state.

Anime and otaku-ness got me out of a pretty dark place. I've been suffering depression since about 2011, and when my grandfather died in 2015 things took a turn for the worse. Anime helped me out of a really tough spot and now I still have depression and bad social anxiety but I'm more at peace with myself and more focused on developing myself as a person.

Things will get better, I assure you. Thank god anime is there to give peeps like us a helping hand ^_^

Dude, you really need to visit a specialist. That's no joke. As said before, get friends in MAL or other webforums. Try to get in manga/anime conventions or videogames. But keep in mind: No one has more power to help you than yourself. Try to find a therapyst.

I don't know which path did you take in life but I can assure you there are plenty of ways to get better. And as a person who deals with depression on my friends, I know about that "I don't wanna help myself. Don't deserve it" feeling. Don't get stuck and find help.
