If MAL was in danger of shutting down, how hard would you work to save it?

I know there'd be at least some of you out there who'd be bummed if this website went offline, as much as you don't want to admit it. So what would you do to try to stop this catastrophe? Start a petition? Send pleading messages to Xinil? Create or contribute to a Gofundme? Donate money in general? Become a mod to help out the community? Be more active on the forums?

Or would you just sit back and watch it all burn like

This is a thread for serious discussion so please keep any discourse as such. MAL is serious business after all.

I would become a mod and work tirelessly for my people. We'll get the site back online if it's the last thing I do.

That'd mean losing my anime list which I've put work into organizing.

Move to hummingbird I guess.

If it's shutting off. Let it shut off. I'm here for quality time. And as long as my entertainment is intact, I want it to provide me the best quality that it can and for that I work. Simple.

Export list, save list, change manually.
To be fair if the site was shutting down I doubt becoming a mod will help even if becoming a mod were to occur which I highly doubt will ever happen.

I wouldn't do anything, I'm just too lazy. It's just a site/forum, though it would of course be a bummer because it's a great database. But I would just save my lists and live on with my life. Maybe even switch to hummingbird, lel.

I have pretty much assembled most of my friends contact info here on MAL.

Most of them are on IRC anyway so aside from that, i really couldn't care less about what happens to the forum interface or my list or my profile, what matters is staying in touch with my friends and those are very tightly categorized on my Skype c:

The CD cancer trolls , the childish online drama, the circle jerking, the ignorance ... will not be missed.

Do what I can here and there to help the site stay around, it wouldnt be hard to keep in contact with my friends or export my list, but I guess I've grown a bit fond of MAL.

I wouldn't do much.
Export my anime list, ask around which site the users of MAL will migrate to, and follow suit.

Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons.
It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.
-Walt Whitman

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

The user personal list, often contains personal information. It doesn't belong to MAL, because there is a 2-year U.S. copyright on all personal invention. You cannot sign this away. So, if I leave, how do I get the User MOD to erase everything I've ever written from the site? This includes comments about anime or manga I may have written, reviews, recommendations; and any entries in any Clubs I may have joined, or any posts I may have made in any forum? I OWN THIS STUFF. Period. Not debatable.

Looks like someone didn't read their user agreement before signing up :/

OT: I personally have an account on multiple websites like MAL, but personally like the database it has here. Haven't been a part of the community here really so no comment that, but for all the information stored here alone its worth saving imo. Plus I like the overall profile design and customization here. There are so many sites that don't let you use signatures or customize your list the way MAL does.

As long as the list function still works I'll be fine, I don't really care about the community and even if the list function stops, there are other listing sites.

So yeah I wouldn't do shit.

Man, that would suck. Such a large database of anime, very active community... it would be a huge blow to anime fans.

We've got other anime databases but I don't like the interface as much for any of them.
