| To a large extent, I think taste is subjective. Context is probably pretty important though. If someone hates mecha, and gives most mecha shows a 4 or something and gives a fantastic mecha show a 6 or a 7, it could still be said that they have decent taste. Because they recognize that that mecha show is better than other mecha shows. I would be super confused if someone that likes magical girl shows gave Cardcaptor Sakura a really low score. |

It means we can take each other's opinions at face value (normally, you should adjust another person's opinion according to your model of him/her). Statement "he's choosy about anime he watches" is meaningful. It means it's quite useless to recommend stuff to him, unless that's stuff that turned out a lot better than it seemed (but it's useless to recommend too). Statement "his taste in anime is good" doesn't really mean anything. |
