Mai was definetly the most enjoyable girl to watch. I just hope he ends up with her at the end.

4 really. 2 technically since Makoto was actually a fox, not a human, and he didn't forget Nayuki existed but rather ignored her for the most part.

Mai is actually the one he kind of truly ignored since he kept going to that town a few more years. He has an actual excuse for Ayu/Nayuki beyond just "I couldn't find you when I came back" which is the excuse he used for Mai.

This whole episode i thought "Mai please don't die" and suddenly she commits suicide and I was STUNNED! Thank god that her power saved her :D

This anime keeps surprising me, so the demons where illusions that were created by her own power... INTERESTING!

I hope we will see more of Mai but I doubt that...

Anyways, great episode like always!

Wow, this series is amazing. I love how it wrapped everything together. I really thought Mai was going to die there. Glad she didn't, otherwise this show would of reached a whole new level of emo.

Looks like next episode moves right into Shiori's arc. I hope the next episode still continues Mai's arc a little bit. I want to see Sayori and Mai together again.

That attempted suicide was a step too far, ruined the mood completely. Rest of the episode was great, despite the cop out explanation.

Ikr, trying way, way too hard there. Bullshit, couldn't take it seriously.

Welp. That was...okay I guess. Only thing to make me tear up so far was Mai's friend's backstory, goddamn. ;_;

This show, though still nothing special in my eyes, has gotten much better since Makoto got offed. <3 I'm looking at a 7/10 now.

Well. This arc actually made me cry, unlike Makoto's. I guess I'm a sucker for the unexpected, aka, I won't cry if I expect it. Proof is Makoto vs Mai. I figured what would happen by the end of Makoto's arc, so I didn't cry. This, I didn't expect her to kill herself! So I cried. The voila all's well that ends well.

Quite interesting episode indeed, we get a little more back story on Mai and who she was when she was little, she holds a special healing power of some kind "this was never really mentioned in the 2002version". When Yuuichi finally understands it he tries to let Mai remember that he is her lost friend. Where in the 2002Version Sayuri saved Mai from stabbing her self with the sword here the fragment of her healing power saves her "Hope" But yea this episode is really great this is something the 2002 Version totally didn't had and it really fits in the total story quite well!

Loved this episode!

Not bad, glad all of my questions regarding this arc have been answered. ^^

This arc had a lot of great moments and the plot was definitely better than Makato's arc was a lot more emotional and had a far better feel (at least to me). Might be because I don't entirely care for Mai's character that I think this way, Makoto did also have a far better build up too. Still, not bad, I enjoyed this arc quite a bit. :)

If Mai killed 5/6 of the demons who were actually fragments of her power, does that mean she only has 1/6 of that power left? D=

Yes, she only had the last bit of power left which is what healed her. In the anime this also serves as an explanation of why Mai doesn't just "heals" the other characters later on... she can't (she also can't save Makoto because Makoto was a supernatural entity beyond her power). In the game she has to remain with Sayuri at the hospital for several months because she is now "powerless" hence she couldn't completely heal all her wounds (nor Sayuri's).

Shit, stop fucking scaring me like that D: First Sayuri, now Mai...
So, she did that to kill the final 'demon', herself? I guess she couldn't accept that it was her who caused that to Sayuri :/
Her past was pretty sad, but it was really cute how she made a lot of snow-bunnies :)
This arc was much better in my opinion than the Makoto arc.

I really wonder though what's the reason behind Yuuichi forgetting everything. I don't think it's only because of the long time.

Next up is Shiori's arc it seems. I'm not that interested about her, but I hope for the best!

So the demons are part of her not being able to face the truth of Yuichi leaving. To me Mai and Yuichi are the only cool characters. The rest are faggots. 8.3/10.

So I guessed right after all in my last post, wow. It make me feel good :P

But more seriously, it was a really great episode, loved it. So the demons were in fact creation of Mai to escape from reality. But what I didn't saw coming was that Sayori was physical representation of her power. But yeah, I didn't that Mai had these power too, so I was pretty much clueless about this.

Her story was sad. Man, her power is so cool, how can people not accept it >:(

So now it's Shiori arc. I really don't know what to expect from this, maybe she have an degenerative disease? Maybe I'm also looking too far. After that it will surely be Nayuki arc, then Ayu arc, then I'll be sad.

And here man , I'm still quite shocked , I did not see that coming at that moment , I just froze , i'm just glad she didn't die then and there ;_;

I couldn't help but shed tears during the scenes with Mai and her mother

So the demons turn out to be manifestations of Mai's power?

these last couple of episodes are definitely my favorite so far of this series.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DID THE SAME TRICK TWICE AND IT ACTUALLY WORKED. TWO episodes in a ROW they throw a character death at you then within 2 minutes "lolalive." And what more, I believed it EACH TIME. Maaaaan that's low. I didn't cry though; I was shocked, but there wasn't nearly enough time to cry.

Love Mai though.

To be precise, the 2002 version tried to squeeze in the details of her past into the anime, it was just that they didn't have enough screentime to do so and to prevent convolution, just showed some hints of Mai and Yuuichi's past together, as if foreshadowing that a remake will make things clear for us (which KyoAni did!).

Excellently done, KyoAni. Mai's arc has been so well-revamped that the ending sequence was entirely different compared to Toei's version, making it much better and more legitimate. While it was a nice twist that
in the end of the 2002 version, this one made an extra point in support of her past with Yuuichi that she had supernatural powers which came to save her life in the end. The Toei edition did give out hints over their past, and since I didn't play the VN, all I could do was guess and hope for KyoAni to touch on this subject at hand. And well, sure I was impressed. There concludes Mai's arc. Still, I had to admit that Mai wasn't one of my most favourite girls, even with the remaster's effort to make it twice better. 6/5

I almost turned the episode off as soon as Mai killed herself...I was crying that much. I did not want to see any more that would make me cry even more...
Luckily for me, I couldnt see through my tears, and couldnt find the close button (or pause). As soon as I heard that her wound was closing, I was overwhelmed that I started crying with happiness.

This is really a great series, and I dont want to finish it just yet...but I cannot stop watching! Im just going to have to watch this again at some later point...

Mai attempting suicide didnt touch me as much as Makoto's death but I did wonder if she did die maybe every girl related to Yuuichi would die ...
I had a chuckle when the power that's residing in Mai called itself "Hope" ... kind of corny.

omg emotional roller coaster! this is what I wanted!! :D
So many plot twists in last episode and in this one even more every few minutes/seconds!

I raise my vote for this anime after this arc;d

I rly start to think what I said earlier that yuuichi is dead and is having journey of what his life was, something like what people see before their death.

This or I got no idea what is going on, Makoto arc, this arc, all other girls and Yuuichi it is all too unnatural.
First arc looks like remembering first pet, then first friend maybe? what will be next?

So 15 episodes and we only covered two girls, and three left for 9 episodes? Im guessing Nayuki's arc will probably be mixed with Ayu

For some reason, this episodes really didn't click as much as Episode 10.

I found it interesting that this was like a side-effect of Mai's power but the developments after that was a bit rushed and therefore slightly dull.

Backstory was really nice though but the suicide attempt sort of dampened the mood for me, like many others it seems. Old Mai, or should I say, a fragment of her power calling herself/itself "Hope" was a little cheesy too, although I get where its coming from.

By the way, how come the events didn't destroy the school but caused a ruckus earlier during the party?

But, with that said, I really like the trio and I'm just glad we'll be able to see more of that.

Looks like Shiori's turn next. Something happening to Nayuki's mother could possibly indicate that we'll be seeing two girls in the focus simultaneously, I guess.

Edit: Turned out the school was damaged after all. Yuuichi expected more damage, that's all.

One of the best episodes of Kanon, but that's natural since it's featuring one of Kanon's biggest redeming qualities (Mai Kawasumi).

It would have been nice if she had died though, a dramatic end to an arc, but I guess no such thing. Mai needs her own anime.

Also the only Raw I have on my computer. I really need to get the raw of the dance episode though.

so the "demons" that Mai is fighting are actually created by her own power.. because she did not want the boy to leave.

almost cry when she was with her mom in the bench with snow rabbits around them.

indeed, this is one of the best episodes of Kanon.

This anime is making less and less sense as it goes on. These demons never existed yet they were clearly affecting what was happening in the real world, like with the windows. Moreover, wtf even is Mai's "power" ? Something conveniently thrown in at the last second to sort this messy plot out? None of this makes sense.

Yup Mai's backstory was really sad, very unfortunate that the school was built on the same field that Mai used to play on

The "Mai was making the demons to cope with her lost friend" twist was really good, understandable usage of the supernatural here

Wow, I didn't see that twist coming. I always thought people accusing Mai of being responsible for all this chaos were in the wrong, but turns out they weren't. Poor girl was stuck in some delusion, actually I can even go as far as saying that was psychosis, that's so sad, especially when you think about how she hurt Sayuri, not just once but twice. But this twist definitely explained her mental state, she always seemed so strong yet so fragile, her suicide attempts being the biggest proof. But now that she has Yuuichi, I hope she'll really come to accept who she is and will be able to move on, she deserves it.

Even if I liked Makoto's arc, so far this one is my favorite ! The story was very touching, and I liked Mai a lot (surprisingly because usually, kuuderes like her aren't a type of characters I really enjoy, but she is too good of a character to ignore), plus her theme is truly beautiful, very fitting for her character, I'm gonna miss hearing it now.
Also, I'm glad no one died this time ! I still miss Makoto so losing someone else would've been heartbreaking. And it was nice to get a backstory for Sayuri, I was afraid she would just be "Mai's friend" but she was a good character on her own (though it's a real shame she didn't get to give the plushie to Mai).

I guess the next arc will be about Shiori ? I'm curious about her, so let's go ! Though I wonder how many episodes the remaining arcs will last, there's not enough episodes for them to be as long as Makoto's and Mai's (unless Nayuki doesn't have one but that would be surprising), so I hope it won't be too rushed.

Just one last thing : I already guessed it before, but now the show being about people feeling abandoned/waiting endlessly for someone dear to them is 100% confirmed, but so far, Yuuichi always seems to be the one accidentally abandoning others (it was the case for Makoto and Mai, apparently also the case for Ayu, and Nayuki always seems hurt when he forgets to come), I wonder if this will be the case for Shiori as well and furthermore, I wonder how all this will come to explain his amnesia.

Of course Yuuichi was that one friend Mai mentioned in those earlier episodes, as if I was expecting someone else. Also those demons being Mai's delusion all along... well whatever floats the boat.

That Mai attempting suicide part felt a bit cheap, so as an episode will take that last one of Makoto's arc over this but as a whole, this arc over Makoto's one any day.
Honestly not a fan of either of those, but still have to make a choice.

People always have a weak constitution in this show—so many hospitalizations.

Ah, that explains the "demons" they're fighting and why they only attack the school campus, and it's always causing damage to that school. Interesting twist.

I was surprised when Mai suddenly stabbed herself. While I'm glad she survived, it would've made more impact if she died.
