| I can't say I'm a fan of the character design, but I think I'll get used to it. Other than that, I liked this first episode. This show did give me the GATE vibes somehow. Hopefully it'll be just as good. |

| Haven't read the LN or manga for this, but the pre-shipwreck portion felt a tad rushed. Kinda like they cherry picked events to easily summarize what was probably a slow start in the source material. Still far from bad tho. I quite enjoyed this episode at least and am looking forward to tactical warfare that should hopefully be coming up. No problems with the character designs. ... and OMG THE CAST IS COLLEGE AGE AND THE MC PREFERS WOMEN IN THEIR 20'S!! O_O!! Seriously, how often does that happen in anime? lol Why is it that people are calling Ikuta a jerk? :x From what I picked up, it seems that he has a lack of respect for royalty/nobility in general, but also recognizes individual talent/worth. Definitely cocky and amazingly self-confident, but seems to me that confidence is probably appropriate. I see no problem with having a MC who does not fall under the all too common characterization of the gentleman/hero with the sex drive of a 10yo neutered house cat who has doubts over his self-worth even after saving the world a few times. Seduction and flirtation are underrated skills which generally indicate a very humanistic character with higher intellect and a good sign that his exploits will be entertaining to watch. (Excluding hentai. Porn logic is made of more fail than anime logic. Scientific fact.) 7/10 so far and hoping it goes up from there. ^^ Can't wait to find out the backstories for everyone. |

| I think the episode would have been better if it had explained the setting a bit better before the mc got on the boat (their destination, the purpose of the exams...) , but I guess that'll be tackled later on. Also, I felt like as soon as they reached the island, the pacing became slightly off with transitions from scene to scene which were not very smooth. On the plus side, the visuals are good and more importantly the cast of characters seem likeable, especially Ikta. Promising. |

| It was a good first episode. I like our cast of characters and the main character seems promising. I'm interested to see the "Invinicible Lazy General" in action. I'm assuming he'll be an amazing tactician. 7/10 |

| Totally not a fan of the artstyle, the girls look as unattractive as the ones in hentai anime, but the story and atmosphere visual are great. The MC is interesting as well; pervertedly funny. This already gets me hooked |

| Tbh even though Madhouse is my favorite studio, I was expecting a lot worse (enjoyed it though). I definitely see some potential, but this anime could easily end bad. Also a lot of info-dumping. The art and animation were pretty good. I'm just putting this out there, but if madhouse really wanted to do a political war series, they should've just given Kingdom an re-adaptation. @NaturalPerm I agree with you about the character's faces. They look too similar and not really a fan of the design as well. I mean I think the red head's clothes and overall detail looks pretty good, but the faces ugh x.x |

| Was quite enjoyable, though it did feel like some things were skipped because the flow wasn't quite smooth (and apparently they were). But it has the feeling of an epic, so I'm surprisingly looking forward to this. I like the interaction between the two leads. The guy's entertaining, but you shouldn't go around feeling up people... |

| Story telling wise, it's off to a pretty solid start. I'm not 100% engaged yet, but I can see it becoming more interesting. The art style is definitely a turn off though, I don't mind realistic styles, I mean I actually liked Shounen Hollywood which is probably the most similar to this, but this...it's unattractive? Most likely because of the upper lip line, and also the jawlines. Also, I like Ikta except when he's being one of those normal MCs who likes to pick up on females. But lol, he'll later become known as the "Invincible Lazy General." That's got me a bit interested. I'm liking the setting as well. |
| First of all, the OP :/ Very generic. While visually there are interesting themes in it, the song screams LN adaptation and some outfits also scream LN adaptation. The military prevalence in OP does intrigue me, so hopefully we get more of that and more of strategist and less of pointless LN violence and pointless LN fanservice. If to start with technical aspects - the animation quality is okay. I will never for the love of all that is holy, be able to get used to the atrociously generic character designs, but the animation quality is okay. Somewhat dated by today's standards but does not look atrocious. That said I would believe it if someone said this was animated two or three years ago. Story wise it is refreshing that they skipped the whole "oh we are at the military academy" ln trope. Holy shit was I dreading this show being literally that. On other hand it really feels forced with how all the MCs just randomly come together and start the plot. I would have liked some actual build up and set up to make them more interesting than generic. I like the bits where there's actual strategizing and tactics going on, like where MC talked about the island's eventual fate. However haremy bits like in the ship are utterly generic and annoying LN usual stuff. The end of the episode and the whole stranded in the enemy territory did interest me by a lot. MC is somewhat refreshing in his attitude however at the same time it gets annoying quickly. His womanizer attitude is also nice but could easily lead to generic ecchi tropes, so jury's still out. The redhead MC is insufferable so far tho. Typical better-than-you girl who keeps reigning in the male MC. Everyone else is pretty generic. Typical moe clumsy girl, typical comedy relief fat guy, typical MC-rival-best-friend-guy, typical loli. The mascot things are annoying. 4/5 |

| The first episode presented a little about each character in the series and also made an introduction of the plot, I like the animation style, I think it can fit well in the war theme, I'm very anxious and I hope to see a little more of the plot in next episode .. |

| Already the scenery reminds me somewhat of the civilization from Rokku no Yuusha, though the characters we've been shown and the fact that we have a somewhat military setting makes this out to be a bit more like Senjou no Valkyria with magic. I probably laughed more than I should have at the end when I misread the subs: This man, Ikta Solork, would later come to be known as the Incredibly Lazy General XDDDDD |

| Pacing depends entirely on whether or not this is 2cour. If 1 cour, then yeah pacing is off as they are blowing through material. If 2 cour, then pacing is just right to get us to that sweet V7 material. Either way will be a fun ride as we will essentially get playboy Lelouch without bs geass powers. |

| Hmm i was skeptical after seeing the trailers for it but have to say that the first episode was better than i though. Animation and character designs are good and the voice acting is top notch. Plus the fact that this anime has three of my favorite seiyuu's in the main roles is another plus. Given the fact the MC seems to be a thinker rather than a fighter i wonder will he use his brains to out think his enemies instead anyway this was a strong start |

| Does the sprites in this anime remind anyone else of these guys; Also it was ok to start with, but I don't think the best first episode this season, Madhouse can do so much better. |

| I don't know what happens in the LN this is based on, but this is a fantastic start. Loved episode 1, just the right amount of everything, no action yet but the intrigue is all there. |
| Not bad. Seems decent fantasy set in an own fantasy world and better than Endride. Like that it is more a bit steampunk. (Guns and those flying ship of the enemy.) Did not like those spirit-stuff that much. The chars are okay. I hope it will be 2-cour or split cour. Seems like it is starting slowly and they might take a few episodes before they get back to the empire and start the main story/action. Looking forward to see the main guy become a general. They already hinted a lot at the beginning that he seems intelligent ... and lazy ... reminds me of another guy that was not general but a good fighter. (Ryner Lute from Densetsu Yuusha.) Edit: About too many info ... or exposition ... where people talked about in previous posts: Of course there should be info. But it should not be too much since only talking and giving info makes the pacing bad and makes watching a pain/boring. People then will drop. Giving info when needed is the best way to do it. And that is how they did it here. Some info about Empire vs. Republic. A bit explained about the chars (2 from some famous family and then the princess). We will get more info when needed. For now - escaping from there ... we don't need to know all about the political systems there. For fighting there might be some info about the spirit-things needed. But they have not fought yet. Maybe next episode then. |

| Kinda don't like how the anime designs are completely different compared to the manga, but I can see why they are doing this, they really want to go with this story in a novel way. At least the spirits are still accurate. Can't wait to see more. |

| Some of the voice acting was a bit cringeworthy, but overall I can see this being a pretty decent story so long as MC's pervy tendencies remain on the backburner. For once I would like to see an action story with a pervy MC actually be about action. |
