The game is so inconsistent with its boss fights, the ones that work are fucking great(thankfully basically every late game boss) but the ones that flop like titan are so boring.Meanwhile I'm 30 hours into FFXV and the only time I've "died" so far is when I didn't keep up with Ardyn's car (the game wouldn't let me turn to the right >_>) so it insta-failed me. Also dont expect the game to get any harder, if you did side content the linear 2nd half of the game you are hella overpowered for, that said the boss in chapter 13 actually winds up wrecking people's shit even at higher levels, he doesnt kill you really but he willd rian resources from how much he K/Os noct and the party. I think XV needed a cool down for using items like in tales of to make it so you cant just immediately spam heals I just started chapter 7. Yeah the titan boss fight was disappointing, but at least the fight against the woman in chapter 6 was fun (I spent almost a whole minute in the air before dropping down). |

| Realized on my way back from Chicago, and this is how strange it was, that I've just been thinking about it... Feel like I really like Xam'd because there are parts of it that are super reminiscent of an Ursula LeGuin fantasy. Very beautiful/entrancing vibe. A lot of the dialogue tends to be very poetic and well spoken. Mysterious ambiance. Things are more implied than they are explicitly stated. General feeling of loss/self-sacrifice in service to a greater humanitarian purpose Definitely felt very Earthsea-ish at times. ;w; |

I should mention, like I said XV is a game with a fuck ton of flaws, mostly from wrestling with its abysmal engine but also from some bizzare design choices. Its oddly enough the most disappointing game of 2016 but also my favorite as much a contradiction as that may seem. But what I'm getting at, is chapter 14 makes up for so much fucking let downs that the game is pretty much solely reliant on how much you find that pay off worth it and that you should brace for some let downs. The game is just massively divisive for pretty valid reasons but I think it really comes down to how much you like chapter and up (barring chapter 13 which no one likes), I wound up on the side that loves the massive tonal shift even with its narrative shortcommings, but again its really all coming down to how much you enjoy chapter 14. Where the plot kind of falls apart the game is still saved by how good the main 4 characters are and I'd actually argue the part of the plot the game focuses almost entirely on which is the main antagonist is actually very good, its just the nifleheim conflict is really wtf worthy. |

Gonna slow down a bit and maybe just fish for the next couple of days so that I'm getting the patch before I get to chapter 13. I've still got tons of side quests but the main plot missions are finished in an instant. FFXV is definitely weird. I'm not going to post much about my thoughts before I finish chapter 14 though. I do like it even if I do have some grievances with it. The camaraderie between the main characters is what holds the whole thing together. |

Kokko said: that last statement is basically the reason XV captivated so many people despite its narrative shortcommings. The time you spend wit those fictional bros winds up holding a pretty heavy impact by games end. The scene with prompto at the hotel though is by far the most memorable moment, I cant believe it was optional cause it adds so much depth to that character in just a simple conversation.JizzyHitler said: arnaea was indeed a fun fight, I enjoy all the fights that actually let you get arial with it especially if you invest in infinite teleporting. I dont know how they will fix chapter 13 but I actually think all they need to do is balance a few things and add a few more cutscenes cause the reason its so fucked is its a very anticlimatic end to alot of plotpoints off screen. I like the intention of it which is to avert expectation and completely change the genre but it just doesn't have the execution to make it work. Just keep in mind, the 2nd half of the game does blaze by alot faster than the first since it is a linear storyline and a couple chapters are rather short, chapter 13 and 14 are pretty damn long but not 9-12. |

Kokko said: yeah i was kind of hoping for ignis and gladio to have a heart to heart scene in similar fashion, granted they both have scenes in the 2nd half when shit starts getting dire that are pretty big introspectives into their characters in the same way prompto had his, its just way more dramatic. XV has many flaws but those 4's friendships and hardships salvage its shortcommings for me. Thankfully through all its flaws the game really concludes their stories so satisfyingly alot of my fustrations are kind of overlooked in favor of fond memories.JizzyHitler said: The scene with prompto at the hotel though is by far the most memorable moment, I cant believe it was optional cause it adds so much depth to that character in just a simple conversation. I just wish they didnt wind up too far into development to leave luminous cause its blatently obvious that the game was meant to be so much bigger especially in the 2nd half. |

fst said: I can't imagine watching 750 episodes of anything tbqh One Piece definitely does take a long time to watch, which is partly why I was so keen on the simulwatch as a rewatch+catchup in 2015. It let me take my time with it, and we had a lot of interesting conversations along the way that usually isn't available for such a long series. It also helps that One Piece is still one of my favorite anime. On my first watch late 2013/early 2014, before it became a favorite, I was propelled by sheer newbie enthusiasm. |
