Everybody made it out to be this "awesomely amazing Victorian horror anime with dark, psychotic themes, etc" Instead I got an angsty preteen who whines too much and his butler who solves every little problem with the snap of a finger. >_> Around the same time I read a bit of SAO and... | The last episodes of Mawaru Penguindrum. I gave it an 8 'cause it was a beautiful anime, and the symbolism and story-telling style was nice and different. BUT there were so many unanswered questions! The character development was also pretty weak (mostly Kanba's, to be fair). What I think is that it tried to be something much bigger than what it actually was. That made me pretty sad. :/ Edit: I've been thinking about it non-stop since yesterday, and I'm slowly coming to terms with some of its aspects. I still think it could had been a lot better, though. |

It's plot is a mess, each arc takes in new villians and many of thoose were made just for fighting, there is not a strong link that strings them together enough to make the story feel good, not to mention the pacing that feels a little rushed. And the ending battle lacked logic, Natsu swaped them both without using dragon mode, just because he had the hope of others... If there is any logic bound to that then explain it... |
