Well... well well well...... There were some major events throughout, but first I must admit that I'm really surprised that Fremy even decided to follow the other Rokkas after they tried so hard to slice her head off. As much as I saw Adlet's intervention calm Nashitania and subsequently Goldov off, I don't see any reason why Fremy would trust this idiot of a man who met up with Nashitania before meeting up with herself. Shouldn't she be even more suspicious that it was all a trap set by the three of them to lull her into a sense of false security before they took her down? If it were up to me, I would have just ran off and told the others not to bother one another.....
Even after her revelation, Fremy still feels the most "innocent" in my books (regarding the quest at least). I mean, what sort of an antagonist would you be if you put a target on your head from the beginning? She just openly admitted to offing potential Braves-candidates. Although I don't condone murder, I'm wondering if there is a distinct reason why she wants to weaken the group dealing with the Demon Lord (like to get herself into the team?). There's also the possibility that not all Rokkas are nice people, and she may have had a bone to pick with the ones she killed off.
Considering how Fremy herself was chosen as one, I'm assuming the criteria for being elected is more of a combined assessment of both your desire to kill off the Demon Lord AND your actual ability to do so? So it doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a good, noble person, right?
Adlet being split off from the group (without even showing him killing anything like the others were), got my suspicion meter running again. It seemed way too convenient that he was able to run off to the other temple without anyone following him. Of course, you would probably point out that it was all a trap to trick him to open up the temple door and hence to make it seem like he was framed in activating the barrier, ergo him being innocent... but I still have my doubts regarding him. He reverted back to his "Gung-Ho" personality when the other Rokka's appeared, so I have an issue with trusting him at the moment (even if he's the one providing most of the narrative). Could be because of my previous experience with Heavy Rain (that delusional detective's route), I'm of the opinion that those who hide their cards in front of people he should be trusting may not be that trustworthy themselves.
Of course, the most obvious scene of destruction of evidence has to go to Nashitania when she was swinging that sword around like a madwoman. Clearly saw at least two items being destroyed/displaced during that scene, and considering we don't know where she'd been in the 12 hour period between splitting and meeting up with Adlet, the entire showcase makes her suspect.
Also, Nashitania's motion in stopping Chamo's hand indicates that she knows her, or at least how she attacks people, so it may have shown her to be "good" in trying to save Fremy from being killed, but then again considering how calm she was in doing so (as opposed to her panic attack immediately before that) it could also be interpreted as preventing things from starting too soon, like "the time isn't right yet".
I was previously ruling out Goldov's involvement with her possible "ulterior motive" (as speculated last episode), but given they'd been together in the 12 hour time frame, I'm not so sure anymore.... though he could still be working under her orders without knowing or questioning what purpose his actions were for (hence making him half-innocent). The images shown in the ED also give credence to what I mentioned of his character previously. It seems like he was taken in by the Nashetania's Royal family at a young age to work for them, and subsequently internally swore his eternal loyalty to this Whimsical princess that he's so enamored with. I can already feel the tension between him and Adlet already.
Then there's the other three Rokkas who appeared at the end of the scene. My first impression of Chamo and Mora gives off the impression of an out-of-control brat and her mother (or at least the only one who can control her). Am only speculating here, but I get the feeling Chamo isn't very smart, and hence can be manipulated by someone (that being Mora). That said, Mora only introduced herself and spoke a few lines, but her immediate reaction of shutting up Chamo seemed a tad suspicious. Still, seeing as there wasn't enough time to showcase her full character, I'll leave judgment of her till next episode.
Same goes for Hans, I guess, except for the fact that his flamboyant, maniac laugh already gives off a bad impression for him. Either he's an honest crazy pervert, or he's a dishonest crazy pervert, I'll decide next episode.
And like I mentioned last episode: SEE?!?! IF we hadn't already known about the magnificent 7 from the synopsis, this ending would have totally been a hype-able cliffhanger. But since we'd already been spoiled from the get-go, it all just feels so matter-of-fact now...
Enjoying this show a whole lot, but yeah.. just a little peeved about the above.
Oh, and sorry for the long analysis, just had to write out everything on my mind somehow. |
