I will change the score of a show if I rewatch it and feel it merits a different score. I can only remember doing this twice out of the rewatches I've done. The vast majority of shows I've seen I'll never rewatch so its not something that happens often.

...even a saint needs a soldier to do the dirty work.

As time goes on, and as you watch more Anime, your tastes naturally advance. I do not have the same opinions on Anime I had when I first got into Anime, nor do I have the same opinions I had simply a year ago.
I find I always lower scores, but, VERY rarely increase them. For instance, a show like Death Note used to be a 10/10 on my list, and I worshipped it, however, as time has progressed, I've become more willing to admit the flaws of the show. I suppose my approach to Anime has become more mature over time, much in the same way we mature over time outside of Anime based on how much time we spend in the real world.

I have no idea how I ranted that much over nothing...

Sometimes, but the change isn't very big. It's usually increased/decreased by 1 or 2.

Yep, you will eventually watch or read something you like more (whether similar or not) so i feel most of the otakus do change their score in due time.

For some of the immature 10's I gave, yeah, I unrate them since I doubt they deserve that rating as enjoyable as I thought they were at the time.

But most, until I rewatch them I don't know.
Even now, some of my ratings I'm unsure of my criteria score. Especially anime that I consider bad to my taste and/or overall writing.
I doubt it but I kinda hope that one day I fix most if not all of my scores of old anime/manga.

Not really, I reached peak maturity in a year of watching anime. My tastes and opinions haven’t really changed much since. At most, I’ll change something by one, but that’s pretty rare.

yes because i have rating compression (confused whether to rate it 7/8 or 8/9)
and sometimes i don't quite enjoy a well-written anime, and realize it deserves a better rating

Yes, I do. It's usually ±1. As an example, I gave Another a 7 when I first finished watching it. But after a while, I raised the score by 1 and gave it a solid 8.

Yes, I rate things on an analytical POV as of now, but before I rated shit purely based on enjoyment, etc.

Am I the only one who looks at my list when I'm bored and starts adjusting scores on a whim? I think I should be more firm in my scores, but a lot of times I have fun watching a show and a few months after watching it I realize the show was actually pretty bad.

And then I rewatch it and remember what I enjoyed about it.

Of course, that happens quite often when the hyped toned down, or when I've watched enough anime to realize a certain one wasn't that good compared to the others

Generally when I change a score, I almost always lower it

I do, because scores are relative. For example, there's not much difference between a high 7 and a low 8, they're interchangeable.

To give another example: even if I have a lot of 10s, I consider five of those above the rest; I could drop everything else by one point to make this difference clearer, but I already use the favourites list for this. It all depends on how I want to shape my list, which may change over time.

Yes. I already know that when I rewatch some anime, I'm going to score them higher because I'm not as normie as I was.

Yeah i do, and usually the score goes lower than before. I remember when i rated Domestic na Kanojo 7. But then i started lowering its score. (Currently it has 4 score, which i think fits enough).

The only anime i changed score to higher rate are: Bunny Girl Senpai, Yuru Camp, and Haruhi season 1. Initially i gave 8 score to all of them, but later it went up to 9.

Wow, surprised to see so many people are bothered to review their scores. I myself don't ever do that because i think initial impression is important as well and also it's interesting to see what you yourself considered a good anime years ago. Many of 7-8's in my early anime watching years would receive 4-5 nowadays.

Back then i was giving 10 score to lots of anime. Then i realized that 10/10 for me personally should have special part in my heart, and lots of 10 scored anime isn't that special, and end up being 9, or even 8.

Yes since for example I might give a show a 7 and think I liked it more than another show I gave a 7 so the score for the latter would decrease.

Yeah, I tend to lower scores every now and then when I recognize I got caught up in the hype surrounding a show.

I have raised a few scores retrospectively too, though. It helped when I gave up on trying to rate anime with these arbitrary criteria I'd been told were what determined if a show was good or bad. Now I mainly rate on what's important to me and my own experience.

I will from time to time. Usually after a rewatch. I find myself doing it more often now, since alot of the stuff I rated on this site I rated over 10 years ago. My views on things have changed greatly over that time. I usually lower scores, but recently I've raised AoT and Angel Beats after a rewatch. With shows like that I think I just wasn't in the right headspace when watching them as they aired.

I rarely rewatch anime but I do change my scores very often, usually because of seeing so many great shows that literally excel in every metric and every aspect which makes me re-think some of the "overrated" scores I gave to certain shows, I usually end up decreasing my scores rather than increasing them.

Yes. And sometimes it's also mean cutting favorites. I used to have Cowboy Bebop and Baccano as favorites sitting comfortably with '9' back when I thought Gun, Smokes and Jazz were the coolest thing ever. Now preferences has changed as I become older and I prefer atmospheric or melancholic tone in my anime.

I used to do that a lot more, but then I reached a point where that would require way too much effort as my number of watched anime increased, so I haven't in a while. Usually I would change a bunch at once tho with larger gaps of time between them. Another thing is that I now have more experience with factoring in how much my dislikes of a show affect my overall opinion than I used to, so nowadays my first score is often more true to my actual opinion and I don't need to change it later.

I consider scores are very dynamic, prone to changing from time to time.

Yes, something like this. Last time, I did a massive reset so that my average score would be a 5.0, balanced as all things should be. It kinda slipped up a bit already, but I'll rescore again once I watch enough anime again

I used to change it frequently when I was newer to watching anime but I'm pretty firm on how rate shows now. I don't think my scores will remain completely constant because as I watch more anime, I get better at identifying what exactly I like and don't like and I change my scores to reflect this.
I usually lower scores when I realize that I didn't enjoy it as much or when I realize it had other flaws but sometimes I increase ratings when I realize I rated it a little too harshly based on the immediate reaction I had after watching it.

Yeah! Sometimes I rate stuff when I am just starting them ~ep 3 but then realize I judged too quickly. I should probably just wait until I finish but yeah. Sometimes the more I think about an anime the more I realize ideas that I overlooked and grow to appreciate it more.

Anytime they are around .5 range in which I'm forced to choose between higher or lower score OR strong feeling (+ or -) of maybe I didn't give the right score months afterwards OR start comparing scores between series i.e. when x is definitely the correct score but y has the same score and it didn't feel like it should be in the same tier

I would adjust

Yeah, as I grow and change, my views and tastes also go along with it. Also after all the dust has settled you tend to look at a work differently than if you had just finished it. Personally if I don't even remember them the score goes down, or if I had no strong or lasting emotion towards it.
