Yotarou's intuition about other characters in this season is starting to impress me more than I had thought. He might come off as a goofy character but he understands certain people like Konatsu.

I think it might come from people experience that Yotarou is able to express his ability although it did also feel like he bit off more than he can chew. That got pretty dramatic tbh. The feels of this episode...;_;

No OP.

Sukeroku seems to want to confront something because of his wife's worry.

Sukeroku's yell seems to break the awkward atmosphere.

Ishida-san's character's performance!

Family performance and it seems like the lady tries to learn the instrument next.

Now THAT was a drama filled episode, holy fuck that was intense....You know when you get no OP or ED, that shit is gonna get REAL lol

I was so happy that Yotaro went up and said all that stuff to that Yakuza boss and really just let everything out all for the sake for his two loves :'') Everything about that scene and especially the emotional parts and dialogue included was just perfect and thankfully our boy has found his Rakugo

What I want to know though however, is if the Yakuza boss is REALLY the father of Konatsu's son....Part of me feel like this isn't the case considering how she kept something hidden after all that and it just seems like that man wouldn't have knocked her up since he's already having a fling with Miyokichi's old friend

Either way, it was nice to see her acknowledge Yotaro as her son's father and genuinely smile at listening to him recite things and seeing Yakumo perform like Sukeroku was too freaking awesome

Amazing episode overall and it looks like we're finally getting that timeskip next week :D I wonder if Konatsu is going to try and become performer too or one of those ladies that plays the little guitar thing for performances (Since she decided to quit her old job and all)

Well as I expected we had a confrontation with the father of Konatsu's child this week. And to think it was the boss responsible for sending Yotaro to prison! That's gotta be painful, but Yotaro handled it like a champ. Refusing to back down and using his rakugo to express his feelings. I loved how this tied in to his inability to understand the meaning behind the rant performance, as well as Konatsu's fear of winding up like her mother. It certainly seemed as if that was a distinct possibility without Yotaro's intervention. I'd like to say this matter is resolved for good now, but we have lots of episodes left so it wouldn't surprise me if it got revisited. Still, that end scene of Konatsu calling Yotaro daddy to her, or rather their, son was an encouraging sign. This episode really flew by and had me deeply invested throughout. Probably the best of the three so far.

Also, while I knew it wouldn't happen and wouldn't make any sense just to show how wrapped up I got in this when I saw Yotaro get roughed up a bit I really wanted Yakumo to burst in with a group of hired rakugo goons to beat the everloving shit out of that boss. XD

Also, also Konatsu in the preview has me worried she has no plan to perform herself anymore...which I hope isn't the case. Well we'll hafta see...

The confrontation with the Yakuza boss was intense. What a thing to do by Yotaro.

Dude, that Yotaro rant was the best scene of this season of Rakugo so far. Brilliantly animated and it was amazing to listen to.

Yakumo doing a rakugo for Yotaro at the end was nice to see as well, but it seems like he is having pain...

I honestly don't know how Ifeel about Konatsu. I don't fully understand her decisions and behaviour, but I hope she will be nicer to Yotarou, because right now she is kinda like her mother. I see the next episode takes place several years later, aaah I love this kind of thing, I can't wait. :D

what an amazing episode. one of the best in the whole rakugo series so far. the drama was superb and the ending really sweet. liked the "fight" scene and i like that the real father isnt a complete yerk (despite doing the gang stuff). all in all one of my favourite episodes of anime in a while (beside some sangatsu episodes)

Wow that was an intense episode! Yotaro's confrontation finally happened, and man was it amazing to witness. It really showed me how grown up Yotaro has become, the way he handled it was splendid.

Yakumo's rakugo performances near the end was very different when he was mimicking Sukeroku's style, and by the time he finished it he looked really frail. Based on the preview looks like more time is passing by. I am honestly worried that something bad is going to happen to Yakumo soon.

Also I'm so glad that the Gang Leader isn't a one dimensional asshole.

Like others have said, concerned about Konatsu. Yota has alot on his mind, he states he thinks about these possibilities & such.
While this has helped Yota take a step forward I feel she is stepping back, even if she's trying to avoid her mothers footsteps.
Its funny how everyone understands Yota's own rakugo besides himself.
Yakumo's performance was stellar.

Yeah I'm not sure if I was mistaken but did Konantsu ask the mistress to introduce her husband to a prostitute?

Because he seemed listless recently and she didn't want to bed him (since they're not lovers per se), but to keep the peace she considered getting someone else to do the job. Evidently seems like she quite cares for him since she's concerned about his well-being.

THIS EPISODE WAS FANTASTIC. The confrontation with the yakuza boss and when Yotaro got thrown into the pond (holy shit)... speechless. I thought Yotaro wouldn't be that interesting of a character this season because he's a bit of a fool, but I've never been happier to be wrong! Then, when I thought the episode wasn't going to top it, Yakumo performs Inokari for us. I'm downright fangirling right now. I'm so moved that my eyes are wet. xD

Yeah I get that they care for one another, but they just don't feel like a functional couple.

I'm tired from all the single mother politics, psychology, and debating around Konatsu from other sites, so I'll just leave it at that.

Brilliant episode. Maybe it was the intense atmosphere throughout, but by the end of this episode I started feeling a bit overwhelmed and I had to stop myself from tearing up.

It seems like this episode might have wrapped up the first major arc of this season as next episode looks to be a time skip. And quite some time too since their son has grown up a lot. And they've got quite a good looking kid ngl; Konatsu looks good in the preview too.

10/10 episode.

Someone posted this on reddit, here's a scene-to-scene comparison of Yakumo & Sukerokue's Inoroki (no sound). While watching the episode, I definitely caught some of the repeated movements in Yakumo's performance but to think they repeated the motions verbatim . . . I love this show. That was an emotional performance, and one of my favorite scenes in the series . . . but man, it may not have even been the stand-out performance of the episode. Yotaro's rakugo rant was so intense, so perfectly seeded, and so impeccably well directed & animated. This will be my anime of the year, at this point there's no question for me.

Didn't notice that, the way it was recreated was really clever. Thought yakumo was going to have a heart attack.

Terrific episode. The thing I hate the most about this show is that each episode only feels like 5 minutes. This is already AOTS, no competition.

Yakumo looked like he was in pain after he performed Inoroki, that had me worried a bit.....

One thing I enjoy about this series is that it has a very distinct way of using dialogue, sound, and movement to relay information across.
We as the audience, are not treated like idiots and there is no talking down to the viewer.

Not all of its secrets are laid out on the table at once either. These characters continue to unravel slowly.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC EPISODE :')

Finally, after the long wait, I got the drama I was craving for <3

We got to know more of Yota and Konatsu's past, about why was Yota in prison before taking up this profession and also revelation of real father of the kid, clearing up the doubts we had.
But, what was Yota going to say before Konatsu tried to stop him and the boss threw him off?
"The boss was interested in her..." coz? He do looks like that kid's father so I don't know what else it was gonna be.

To end the episode with Yakumo's Sukeroku-styled performance was brilliant.

More Rakugo is more Rakugo. Good episode, especially with Yotaro confronting the boss like that, announcing that he fathers Konatsu's son.

That ending though... never thought Yakumo could do that.

I loved Yotaro's courage to face that yakuza guy. But i got a little confused if he really is the father of konatsu's kid.

And as usual, Yakumo's rakugo was flawless. I'm fascinated with his face expressions. In some parts it was so similar to sukeroku.
