That power up...Vegeta isn't messing around this episode.

On another note, it's weird seeing him with blue aura. But seriously, I think it's nice to see Vegeta beat the shit out of Freeza, every single square inch of him. I'm ready for the next arc.

I really liked this episode.
Vegeta vs Frieza was very satisfying. It was much longer than the movie.
I also liked the destruction scene better since they actually showed everyone dying this time round.
That Future Trunks reference was neat.
Gohan deciding to train again made me happy.

The food in DBS always makes my mouth water.

I think Piccolo is hiding (basically not telling on his own) some sort of huge power-up. That would make him relevant again.

Universe 6 Arc begins next episode! [Animation looks the same in the preview though]

27. The Earth Explodes?! A Climactic Kamehameha
Original Airdate: January 17, 2016

Vegeta saves the wounded Goku from Frieza's wrath. Frieza fires one final beam to kill Goku, but Vegeta reflects it towards Sorbet. It pierces his chest, killing him. Vegeta reveals to Frieza that he too can use Super Saiyan God. Goku, healed by a senzu bean, explains that unlike himself, Vegeta reached this power level on his own. Frieza is no match for Vegeta. He is beaten out of his golden form by the Saiyan Prince. Frustrated and about to die Frieza uses an old trick: he destroys the planet. Luckily Whis forms a barrier just in time to save those around him, but Vegeta and the other loved ones on earth are killed. Beerus and Whis offer Goku a chance to save them, as Whis reveals he can turn back time, though only for 3 minutes, and he must rest awhile after doing it. With time reversed Goku successfully kills Frieza with a Kamehameha before he attacks earth. After everyone brings the confused Vegeta up to speed Gohan returns to his wife and child, while Goku goes to revive Piccolo. After this, a party is thrown at Capsule Corp. Gohan apologizes to Piccolo and asks if he will train him again, to which Piccolo agrees. Vegeta and Goku agree that they would be stronger fighting together, but have no desire to do so. In Hell, Frieza is once again trapped in his cocoon, tormented for all eternity.

Pretty strong ending for this retelling. Frieza's beatdown by Vegeta looked nice. I loved the insert shots of the loved ones as earth blew up. Interesting limit they put on Whis' time reversing power too, the cooldown time. Gohan's scene with Videl and Pan was adorable. I'm sure his fans are glad he intends to train again! :D That Future Trunks nod was hilarious. :D At last the Champa arc begins next week! I'm excited! :D

Rating: 7/7

This Week in Buu: Briefly seen sleeping as earth explodes. :D

Did You Notice?: In addition to Frieza, Buu probably also survived that explosion, unless him sleeping had any effect. Kid Buu survived earth exploding. While weaker, it's safe to assume Fat Buu did too. Especially if a badly beaten normal state Frieza survived.

Next: God of Destruction Champa?

Picollo hungry.

I can picture Gohan helping Picollo train and help him get a huge power up. As for Gohan, while he was barely able to maintain a SSJ 1 transformation, I don't see him reaching his Ultimate form again. Right now I put Gohan around Imperfect Cell level, maybe weaker than that. He could probably get as strong as regular fat Buu but that's about it.

Vegeta beat the living daylights out of Freeza, those face punches, RIP Freeza

Clueless Chi-Chi doesn't even notice the bright light xD
I liked the ending where Gohan embraces Videl and Pan, very sweet.

It's said they survive on water, but not that they can't eat. There's a scene involving a meal cooked for King Piccolo in DB, though he wasn't established as an alien yet back then.

Finally over this crap. I still dont get the point of re-showing the movies in tv form. Instead of just showing the movies in tv form, they could do 2 things:
1. EXPAND/EXPLAIN the 2 movies way better, which they didnt. Both movies could be easily expanded with a deeper story or something, e.g. we never got a reason why Frieza got so damn strong in that short time. Dont even tell me that he is so damn special, i dont buy that crap.
2. They could just beginn DBS NOW with the new arc instead of dont know how many months ago. It just seems like a money-grabber for TOEI.........which it was ONLY that. Even with the new arc probably nothing will change but lets wait. Point is, they could just start on january 2016 and we wouldnt need to watch those 2 crappy arcs.

Finally they're done with the unnecessary retreading. I will say one of the few improvements over the movie, was actually seeing the characters realize that everyone died and actually somewhat grieving even if only for a couple seconds. In the movie nobody seemed to give a single fuck when Earth was blown up.

God, I hate this episode. It is the same stupid ending, already portrait in "Fukkatsu no F". Frieza had no chance to begin with. He didn't even get to kill Goku - nothing! But even if he killed Goku and Vegeta, he wouldn't stand a chance against Whis's stupid time-traveling-ability. Wouldn't it be enough OP if the just used the namekian dragonballs to revive everyone?
I just hate how nothing in this fucking series has consequences for the main-cast anymore!

Also the animation keeps getting worse from episode to episode.

The only good thing about this episode is, that Piccolo is going to train Gohan again and I hope they don't screw it up.

The art was terrible at certain points but it's nice to see that Vegeta acquired the power of Super Saiyajin Blue on his own unlike Goku who required 6 people too. Hmm so Gohan is going to re-train his Dull Body huh about time let's see the little kid Gohan who beat Cell while his father and Vegeta couldn't..

Probably the best episode aired so far, though I don't think it was hard to beat the previous episodes. The animation wasn't great but it was good enough in my opinion.

I liked how it was a bit more dramatic seeing the Earth get destroyed. I also liked the little nod about Future Trunks killing Freiza. Even though all the previous episodes felt really dragged out, it was good to see Vegeta's fight with Freiza longer whereas in the movie it was much shorter.

Anyway, despite this episode, my expectations are low for the next arc.

Woooooooo!!!!!! FINALLY DONE WITH ALL THIS TRASH. The real Dragon Ball Super starts next week! Thoughts in the meantime:

- Goku's kill-stealing is ridiculous. Like, it took him just as long to charge up as it did Vegeta--there was legit no reason to write it that way save to introduce the fact that Whis can time-travel.

- I was hoping Gohan would decide to start training again. But it seems like it's not soon enough, since going by the manga in the next arc it's Goku, Vegeta, Buu, and Piccolo as the main fighters--unless Buu somehow drops out. Even still, Gohan kinda sucks so he's going to need some time in the Room of Spirit and Time to re-learn how to go Super Saiyan. Ugh. I'm honestly still kinda pissed he's going SSJ at all--the original Kaioshin gave him an ability surpassing that power, and now suddenly he lost it and can barely do SSJ, nevermind SSJ2. If this were any other anime than DBZ, I'd be kinda cool with it because there could be a real character arc for this kid who was once really powerful but traded it for book smarts only to realize his world is too harsh to just neglect his powers and hope someone else does the protecting. But more likely Gohan will look bad-ass and leave things to Goku and Vegeta again.

- Watching Vegeta give Freiza the hands was actually worth re-watching this thing.
Jumping in Headfirst - I hear reading it causes immortality. Warning. Reading may not actually cause immortality.

Easily the best episode so far.

Vegeta actually acted like Vegeta, the fighting actually looked good, or well better.

And Gohan may become decent again, I hope they do it right though, and at least mention about his full potential form before he ascends to ss god or whatever.

Oh man, so happy we can move on to new material. It's bad enough dealing with subpar animation, but having to deal with a horrible adaptation of good movies was painful. Hopefully the new arc is fun! Glad Gohan is going to get back to training too, I disliked his current life.

Loved how Frieeza didn't kill Goku because he had to dodge that insignificant ki blast Vegeta throwed at him. Also loved how Frieeza had time to destory Earth before Vegeta could kill him but when time reversed, Vegeta and Goku both had time to charge the blast, vegeta noticed, got out of the way and Frieeza just stood there like "oh shit, I even forgot I was about to destroy the planet"
Piccolo about to eat Takoyaki, Gohan asking Piccolo to train him again, and I can go on and on with this. Dragon Ball Super was suposed to be canon? This feels way more like filler than GT and I'm afraid of what's to come...
Just my opinion, but the low quality animation and art is the least of DBS problems, for now

Finally an episode that was actually good. Vegeta wasn't treated like a joke for once and beat up Frieza like I would've expected him to do. I just kind of wished they would've shown a few short flashbacks of the Vegeta back when he still worked for Frieza during that beatdown. You'd think getting to beat up Frieza would be a big deal for Vegeta, but he doesn't show it.
Also very glad to see Gohan is getting back to training.

i hate when people ask this question millions of times during the DB series.

Ki control dude.

It's a valid question... During the series it was made clear that Goku and the others always point their attacks to the air so that they don't destroy the planet, that was one of the things that Dragon Ball original excel at, comparing other animes where MC's damage everything without knowing if the planet or people die. You can't simply use Ki control as an answer for huge flaws that this sequel has.
Even more, if the Kameaha kills resurrected Frieza and Frieza can destroy Earth how come Earth would come out "unscathed" by the blast that kills Frieza? It's just that Toei isn't even trying anymore as long the sales are good they won't do shit to fix inconsistencies in the story or in the animation which is just sad.

Frieza had already returned to his original form, which was already weaker than normal Goku to begin with at this point. A decent Kamehameha from a Saiyan God would be more than enough to destroy him. I don't think the fact that Frieza has enough Ki to destroy the Earth has anything to do with his body endurance.

As far as DB is concern, we've seen no correlation between physical strength and Ki potential. I mean Kid Buu has the power to destroy Earth with a simple blast but in the end he got obliterated by an attack that didn't destroy Earth despite it containing the energy of most humans on the planet. Such was the case with Cell too who was destroyed by a man-made explosion (since technically Gero created the self-destructing device that Cell had) and then later his Super Perfect form was destroyed by Gohan's not-so-destructive-to-Earth Kamehameha. So really, I don't see why anyone would start complaining now. I'm starting to think it's because the title is "Super" instead of "Z".
